why is the .png icon crooked and off-center?

It looks better like this!

Can someone please post a good config file?
Just installed this on linux and I'm currently using
vo=opengl-hq:interpolation:tscale=mitchell:scale=ewa_lanczossharp
video-sync=display-resample
With this is looks pretty good, but during some scenes there is a distorted line going through the middle of my screen (kind of looks like the display is refracted at an angle for a very thin row).
Are there any better configurations I can use?

Could you take a pic of this weird issue?

Did you try tscale=bicubic?
It's what haasn uses!

...

You shouldn't try to understand that hard...
Designers are not normal people...

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems a little less smooth than mitchell, but it did get rid of the weird stuttering line so I'll stick with this for now.

>and super-res
what super-res?

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-resolution_imaging

i can handle the design, it's sleek no nonsense. but i can't handle the awful aliasing.

why should I use this over Smplayer on my mint linux ? Mainly watch anime and movies.

smplayer is a GUI for mpv/mplayer

Do you know that smplayer uses mpv internally?
So if you use recent smplayer, you use mpv!

So I was part of the master race all along

Probably! lol

>jinc
Do you really use jinc or is it actually ewa_lanczos?

These screenshots are from imouto.my website.
The author, ranpha, uses madvr...

I think it's ewa_lanczossharp as madVR's Jinc is ewa_lanczossharp.

mitchell, catmul_rom are bicubic with different parameters.
What are default b and c values of bicubic?

What are the best monitors for mpv that are under $400?

>Smplayer

FULL RETARD

I needed something that emulated windows well for my old ass relative you faggot

How do I enable preview when hovering over the scrollbar?

Just drag and you will see instant preview!

How do I add the osc with below in ubuntu?
hidetimeout=200
minmousemove=0
vidscale=no
layout=bottombar
seekbarstyle=bar
Tried ~/.config/mpv/plugin_osc.conf as per man page but no workee.

looks so ugly, why can't they make it something simple

New mpv logo coming through.

kek what a failed.

disgusting

There are tons of "alternative" mpv icons in linux icon-themes!

>still no GUI frontend that is not shit

I swear you commandline autists are the worst

how do you record stuff and how do you install subliminal on windows?

What's wrong with smplayer or mpc-qt?

>DL wangblows build

I've been using MPV for a while now. VLC has the option to stop changing the size of the window and interface to the res of the video. How do I prevent this in mpv?

Reposting from other thread because ded. Also removed unnecessary bait and added other

>mpv is better in every way
>doesnt have a gui for settings
>default playback control gui is horrible and in the middle of the screen
>"you can install a gui user just read on page 2532 in the manual"
>you need to read a manual to use a media player

It might have slightly better video quality, It is no doubt more light weight, and it scrubs faster. But do you honestly believe people to read through a manual and make config files to make a few quick settings? I would actually use it if it wasnt such GNU freetard faggotry. And if the playback controls weren't so shit. Shame could have been a nice.

>inb4 vlcfag mad etc

Sigmoid scaling gives me ugly ringing artifacts unless I select fbo-format=rgb16 or better. The manual does warn that you need at least 16bit fbos, but it also claims they are enabled automatically. Default fbo format with serious ringing problems is 0x805b, rgb16 is 0x8054, rgb16f (visually indistinguishable from rgb16) is 0x881b.

I'm using MPV 0.18.1 from Debian Sid, with AMD hardware (Free Software drivers).

...

Alternate version.

geometry

I really think mpv devs should rename manual to documentation.
However mpv is an advanced media player, so not for everyone.
We are on Sup Forums so if you are dumb or impatient, you're in the wrong thread!

Also I think that sigmoid scaling should show a warning if you don't have sufficient bit depth, otherwise people might think it always looks bad.

on linux how do I get mpv to not close files after the video is over?

Where can I find haasn's conf? It seems to be gone from his github.

Same place?
github.com/haasn/gentoo-conf/blob/nanodesu/home/nand/.mpv/mpv.conf

I'm retarded. Thanks

>using meme-player Sup Forums, VLC edition
kek

did you just play a partially downloaded torrent?

add
keep-open

to config

need a good config for linux for a gtx 980

No, it worked fine forwards, then sperged when I tried to backseek. Worked fine on MPC-HC and fucking VLC though

kek

You know that VLC and mpv use the same backend, right?

You're comparing the same thing wearing different hats

And so does mpc-hc. That doesn't mean that all three players are equal, inbred mpvcuck

No, you don't. People using toasters need good configs.

github.com/dragons4life/MPC-HC-config-for-MPV

I got bored, kinda want to do VLC next.

>not even a fucking dialog for pasting stream URL
Just drag and drop? it's even simpler.
>tfw you actually like the icon for mpv
It looks pretty good, not even a fan of purple.
I want it to add this script to the github page I made but, I am not sure yet.

python.org/downloads/ - Download 3.5.# is the one I am using you can however download the other one.

Install, DONT FORGET TO ADD PATH ON THE INSTALLER. " ADD Python Version to PATH ", make sure is checked.

go on cmd
type
refreshenv
than type pip install subliminal
I am assuming you know how to install a script, so install this one on mpv gist.github.com/selsta/ce3fb37e775dbd15c698

As far as for recording stuff, I don't think there is a way, unless on linux.

i´m for the first time using LUA and this is the first script i wrote
when i try to use it though there is no reaction in mpv
can anyone tell me what i´m doing wrong?

pastebin.com/sYtx2uhm

>/test.lua:4: unexpected symbol near '$'
My console is printing errors for that.

I'm not quite sure what you want to do here but maybe check the sort function in github.com/donmaiq/Mpv-Playlistmanager to get some idea what to do.

Is there an easy way to display chapter metadata titles when you hover over that chapter on the OSC progress bar?(like what VLC and MPC-HC do) pic related

Try using a good player, like MPC-HC

Can mpv extract a VP8 frame from a video and put it in a WebP file? What about H265 and BPG? You could take screenshots without any quality loss that way.

>what is set default

use svp manager

How can I set my own values?

Unless you're actually using an mplayer backend instead of mpv

getting a blue screen with vanila finesharp help reeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you using hwdec=auto or hwdec=auto-copy?

vo=opengl-hq:interpolation:tscale=linear:scale=ewa_lanczossharp:cscale=ewa_lanczossoft:dscale-param2=1.5:scale-antiring=0.8:pre-shaders="~~/FineSharp.glsl"

Don't use the old finesharp shader and pre-shaders!
The current one was improved!
gist.github.com/igv/a9a21ad1f6dd7d0b4452

Smplayer looks like shit and mpc-qt is not available for Windows.

There are some themes for smplayer!
You can build mpc-qt, you should do it!

>take screenshot
>freezes for a few seconds
trash

question regarding mvp and hevc ts files.
Have a config file set up for

hwdec=dxva2-copy

When i try to play a hevc ts file it uses my cpu instead of my 960. doesnt happen in mpc. happens on both win 7 and fedora.

10 second sample
mega.nz/#!7wJjnAqK!VSN-uxkdbLqiPjRxe9fQEUMIveCD1XLlkBbOshKkeZI

My question is is it the files or mvp?

I just installed MPV in Debian testing and its flicking, what do

Where is mpvs config directory on windows?

User Name/appdata/roaming/

is it not possible to provide an already build version of mpc-qt?
Yeah it happens, this so far is the least culprit.
screenshot-format=png
screenshot-png-compression=1
screenshot-png-filter=0
screenshot-tag-colorspace=yes
screenshot-high-bit-depth=no

you can also use something other than png
I am really starting to believe people who keep asking these questions are trolls.
github.com/dragons4life/MPC-HC-config-for-MPV

Thanks!

or..

why?

Even thought i'm on wangblows, i've managed to get it all neat with some user scripts, but something i'm missing is the capability to keep same audio/sub option on a playlist, is there a script already done to do this, or should i make it myself?,
Ex: I'm whatches ChinesecartoonXXX with sub eng lang jap
as soon as the next episode comes it resets to lang eng no sup

Try something like
alang=jp,jpn,jap,japanese
slang=eng,en,english
in conf

mpv.io/manual/master/#options-alang
mpv.io/manual/master/#options-slang

how did you know that i use the old one! so yes my working install is old mpv + old finesharp, and now im getting a bluescreen with new finesharp + new mpv. the .glsl is in fact the latest one, but i guess there's something else in the line that makes it not work?

Does MPV automatically detect settings (.conf files) placed within the MPV subfolder?

I'd rather use that than %appdata%.

make a folder named "portable_config" in mpv dir and place all configs in there

Awesome, thanks.

Mpvs volume is very low for me.
There doesn't seem to be any way to change this.
Am I missing something?

Thanks anons, should've taken a look at the mpv.conf first. this even saves me the hassle of selecting it in the first place.

Added a workaround for this in

How many years now has Sup Forums been excited about a video player?

Why?

softvol=yes
softvol-max=200

>hwdec=dxva2-copy
This doesn't work properly with HEVC 10-bit
use hwdec=dxva2 and angle backend on windows. Linux doesn't have hardware acceleration for 10-bit yet

I just made a patch for Yeah, I know the code is shit

Also you can put osc.lua under .mpv/scripts and use it as external script without need to compile. (Disable builtin osc with no-osc first)

I've been wondering why does MPV not auto-play whenever you load a new file?

Why doe sit not start from start whenever it reaches the end and you hit play again?

That does not work any longer.

Volume-max=# is on by default.

Unless he is running an older version of mpv of course.
Is this a lua script or official?

sorry if im slow but how do i install/use this?

Well. Here is the patched osc.lua

see for installation
