How the fuck are people still buying 16gb phones? How can you be able to afford an iPhone, yet still be poor enough to not be able to get a 64gb one at least?

Because most of us are not gay and buy Android phones. We mostly buy 16GB variants because they have something called a Micro SD slot which accept up to 2TB cards. Currently though, the biggest size is 256GB.

Shaking my h

My S7 Edge just werks out of the box. My HTC One just werked too.

Android flagships are also for rich people, unlike the cheap ishit every hobo has nowadays.

what do you do with so much data? applications and os take up about 10 gigabytes, and i stream music from the cloud.

>streaming music
why
that's just unnecessary overhead on everything
>phone modem has to be running constantly
>carrier has to handle an extra 200kb/s
>only works well if you are a absolute madman and have unlimited data or fell for the t mobile jew
>cpu still has to decode shit, but also has to run the modem

>My HTC One just werked too.
No, it didn't.

16GB is more than enough for me. What the fuck do you store on your phone? CP?

Why you need so much local memory? I've never run out of storage on my 16gb iPhone. Just dump your pics/videos on your computer like once a year.

You underestimate the quality of HTC's One series.

>Inb4 M9
That was 810.

One M8 was the best phone on the market actually. Way way above the ishit.

Actually I shoud've gotten the M10, but I wanted VR. Porn is amazing in Gear VR.

>tfw both HTC and Samsung are leading in 4k and VR and apple can't even build a full HD phone

Why are you buying the inferior products anyway? Is it because you can't afford an android?

>You always must buy the most expensive model of something, otherwise everyone will think you're poor

And thus the debt problem.

>And thus the debt problem.
that's just people enjoying living outside of their means

I'm mostly home so I'm using WiFi when I stream music. Not data.

Samsung Notefag here, I don't like the way these phones are heading (3 browsers, battery, iris scanner, not respecting root customers, bloat, lag....) and want to mix it up a little bit.

I've never used an apple product (minus the 160GB iPod classic) but am willing to give it a try for a secure, reliable device.

Is there a way to torrent on an iPhone? (Why would you need 64gb otherwise)

Do they really break after 2 years?

Can I run screen overlay apps like Red Moon/Twilight?

Waiting for the new 7, so the price of 6s drops down...

i'm currently using iPhone 6s with 16gb internal storage. i think that it would be better to have at least 32gb, but i can live with what i have. why? i don't play stupid games, i use it for taking photos, listening music, reading news etc. you have pretty much everything in cloud now. i use tidal and google drive. now i have 4gb of free storage, with some music stored offline.

well the modem always runs

and yes, i do have unlimited data :3

if it's just idling it's using way less power than constantly downloading stuff

>werks in my machine
>werks on my machine
>no?
>needing more than 32 gb for apps
>isn't apple going to be switching to that soon anyways? One button isn't a game changer.
>citation?
>grasping at straws now

why even bother replying.

Who else 16GB + 128GB mSD card master race?

it isn't downloading constantly either -- only at the beginning of a song
and it'd download something regardless - software updates, program updates, social network updates, messages from messaging apps, etc

Bait aside, if Android is really so superior how come an iPhone which is at the end of it's life cycle still manages to beat every Android flagship (including Note 7)? And adding to the humiliation is the fact that the iPhone has a dual core processor with half the ram Android flagships have. Imagine the potential if Apple too started cramming 8 core processors and 6 GB of ram.

>software updates,
OS updates happen literally never
> program updates,
only if you're some absolute madman and left auto-update on
>social network updates,
you have to be literally retarded to install social network apps instead of just using your browser

You can torrent if you sideload iTransmission or jailbreak.
If you aren't retarded it can last for an while.
iOS 9.3 + comes with Night Shift which is pretty much a f.lux clone.

> still manages to beat
[citation needed]

I own a 128 GB microSD card, so I don't care how much onboard storage my phone has.

internal memory should ONLY be used for system and applications.
I use my Z1C with 16GB internal memory (which has almost always 11GB of free space with everything installed) and 128GB mSD card which contains everything else, including gaymes. It's nice to have a mobile server (n/ac wifi access point with internet acces + samba service with mSD card share + status http page + all kinds of services). Smartphone can also be used instead of a 2,5" external hdd, since you always carry it with yourself anyway.

There you go senpai desu.

mobile reddit (inb4) is hardly usable
i don't have autoupdate on, but it still notifies me of available updates

Sure fucking thing it will be faster in 3D with smaller screen resolution.
Also keep in mind that Android's multitasking keeps apps actually running when iOS suspends them.

>Android's multitasking keeps apps actually running when iOS suspends them.
You dip did you even watch the fucking video? He does a second round where he opens apps already open in the background and iPhone has them all open where as Note 7 has to reload many.

poorfag here. ordered a brand new iphone 6SE last night

YeahI fucked mine up the other day and home button doesn't work.i think i got 16gb but that is more than enough for me.

Oh and also. I could literally sell this phone any day the next few years for good money or get it fixed or a new one form apple if anything goes wrong. I'm not a mac fag at all. but i do prefer iphones. very solid device imo.

Thanks.

Another Q, can I expect the early 7 to be low-quality/buggy until 7s comes out or 7s Plus or something...

Does that mean that 6s Plus will be the best bang for buck when it comes out?

Don't wanna get stuck with something like the series that bend in your pocket

>Is there a way to torrent on an iPhone? (Why would you need 64gb otherwise)
Yes. I don't know why people torrent on their phones though and I have never done it myself.

>Do they really break after 2 years?
I have only ever used iphones that were >2 years old. 2014-2015 I had an iphone 4. 2015-present I have been using a 4s.
I get them for free when people upgrade.

>Can I run screen overlay apps like Red Moon/Twilight?
Yes, there is f.lux for jailbroken iphones (or sideload). You won't need it on the latest iOS versions though since they have inbuilt nightshift.

>non-flagship phone
>quad HD
>VS 640p wannaby flagship

This isn't even funny m8.

Note 7 is non-flagship? This better be bait.
iPhone manages to beat Android flagships is off-screen benchmarks as well so your screen res argument goes right out the window.

Note 7 is a gimped budget phone.

S7 edge is the flagship.

Note 7 is literally an S7 edge with slightly less aggressive curves and a stylus.

No, it's not. It's majorly gimped. It can't even run Oculus VR.

Stay mad, iPoor. Maybe some day you will be able to afford a real phone.

Let's all take a moment and address the root of the issue here.
iPhone uses C programming where as Android apps runs on JVM which is inferior when it comes to performance. You can cram 9000 cores and 16 Peta Bytes of RAM and you'd still be a step behind. The very foundation of your OS is bloated and runs on a pathetic shit tier virtual machine. iPhone had already won even before the war started.

>At the end of its life cycle
No it's not, the iPhone 6s in the video you linked to here is definitely very much so in its life cycle.

Also, if they added superfluous cores and RAM you would see diminishing returns.

In closing, your understanding of technology is weak at best.

>If anything goes wrong
You have to pay for that, just like any other phone.

You dissapoint me.

Apple kept the 16gb model so that they could claim iphone prices have not changed in years.

If apple doesn't axe its 16gb model this year its going to look really stupid as the N7 only comes in 64gb flavors.

Facts are propaganda now?

>i posted it again

Cuckbook removed messages access from the mobile version of the site.

>Posting a photo from 2009 at the earliest.

>Do they really break after 2 years

Most people I know have used the same iPhone for 3 years. Mine is currently two years old and works like I just bought it.

>everyone knows that the FBI is currently outraged because Apple won't give them the tools to get into their encrypted files

It was a old iPhone 5c with the secure enclave keep being ignorant

>able to afford an iPhone

better question: how is the iphone SE cheaper than iphone 6?
literally every single thing about this phone is better, next gen processor, double RAM, 18 MP instead of 8 MP camera.
the only numbers that are less is battery size and screen size, but lifetime is the same on everything except some hours less standby. while 4" isn't all that big, iphone 4 was 3.5", so it clearly is okay.

>apps only in internal storage
The only alternative is iPhone which doesn't even have external storage lol

They saved money by re-using tooling from the iPhone 5/5s production. It's Apple's idea of a budget iPhone. I hate iPhones but if the Nexus Sailfish ends up being shit I might have to jump ship and buy an SE. I don't really want to have a giant rectangle in my pocket just to have good performance because Android OEM's won't put high end guts into a hand-sized case.

>lag
It's not 2012 anymore, even then the pure stock Androids were just as snappy as the iPhone
>shitty multitasking
lol wat, iPhones have always had shitty multitasking thanks to not having enough memory to keep more than one thing active at a time. Every 1GB iPhone I've used has constant redraws when switching apps. The 2GB ones are better admittately but we're up to 6+GB on the Android side, I could keep switch back to browser tabs I loaded a week ago without a redraw.
>3 clocks
iPhone homescreen has 2 clocks unless you move the clock app icon, not sure what you're getting at here.
>apps only in internal storage
iPhones ONLY have internal storage, whats you're point? At least I can offload all my media to a cheap ass SD card and leave internal storage for apps. I laugh at all the 16GB iPhone owners constantly gettting "storage full" when they go to take a picture.
>on screen buttons
Subjective, iPhone kind of has those two with the back button that's in a different place across different apps
>shitty ports of apps
Not really no.
>having to install a custom pajeet rom in order to enjoy the OS
Subjective again, though I have no sympathy for anyone that buys a carrier-cucked phone or a Samsung of any kind.

yup that's what I was thinking too, there really is a market for 4-4.5 inch devices.
wouldn't go apple for it though, I'm more than happy with my OPO. was 300 euro's for a phone with 64GB and top tier specs, still fast and snappy, almost 2 day battery life after 2 years.
and thanks, looked it up and didn't know that 5/5S was same size as SE. still, I think it's rather weird they would have a clearly inferior model at a higher price in their lineup, it doesn't fit in with their otherwise so "logically incrementing" pricing schemes.

I'm all about android, but
>no shitty ports of apps
is just not true. developers use android as a second rate platform for the big apps. games, social media, ... the really big apps are more often than not pieces of shit on android. facebook app, instagram, tinder, snapchat, imdb, evernote (although I admit it has improved in the last half year), even the wikipedia app. on android they just have those weird quirks and bugs and shit not loading and whatever. maybe they're android issues, but you can clearly see there are a lot of flawless good apps on android too. it's just that when you compare the android app with the ios app, the ios apps just don't have issues. it makes me fucking sad, but it's the truth. and sure, those issues are usually minor and often fixed by a close the app and restart it, which is 5 seconds on modern hardware, but it shouldn't happen in the first place. and this is phones with better hardware on every single point of the specs sheet.

I have my iphone SE synced up to the cloud. I also have my phone setup so whenever it connects to my wifi, it transfers all of my photos to my computer and deletes them off of my phone.

I stream my music. I have a 12gb plan and I've never gone over my limit while streaming music on the way to work. I'm also a minimalist whenever it comes to apps, unlike many Android sperglords who probably have their phones filled with applications that they haven't used in three months.

I bought a 16gb iphone because I didn't need anything bigger.

The SE is based as fuck. It's the size a phone should be, it's cheaper than the 6 lineup, and has the 6s camera and internals.

But you can swipe left to go back in iOS.

Not an argument

What? The Note 7 is literally the exact same specifications of the S7, without the curved side edges, with a higher resolution and smart active stylus.

The reason it can't run their Gear VR is because of size/scaling, not because it's not powerful enough. The resolution of the Note is too large to accommodate the current Gear VR headsets, so they'll just release a new headset in a couple of months with the proper scaling and everything will be fine. Specifications have nothing to do with the fragmentation of VR headsets.

Why the fuck would someone knowing about an S7/Note 7 automatically make someone an iPoor?

>also, wanting mobile VR, ever

>youtube.com/watch?v=3-61FFoJFy0
Watch this nigga,4-6GB ram means nothing if RAM management is ass. 6S can run laps around Note 7 or S7 in performance.

Only reason ishit used c was to be as lean as possible, then for some reason genius jobs didn't think ahead for tech advancements. Now it costs little to have 2-4 gb of ram in a phone but ishit has no because they won't remove the background suspend then kill for apps. I don't even think they could if they wanted to either.

You can enable no freeze or background app kill with jailbreck and by looking at what the tweak does its clear that ios can easily implement this. Why apple does not add more RAM to iDevices is simple; less money to make. iphones have always cost less to make than android flagships yet has comparable(if not better) performance than them in real tasks. They believe in work smart and not hard philosophy; if with marketing you can sell dreams why spend actual money for better specs?

get along with the times, iphone has 2gb ram now, and as shown in the post above you, its ram amount isn't an issue anymore. maybe after a fuckton of tabs open in a browser.
still, android all day erryday, customizability and bang-for-buck.

>buys 300$ phone
>then buys 2000$ 2 Tb sd card.

Implying you need 16k on a 5' screen

Someone never heard of iOS background app refresh

...

OPTIONAL
DISABLE-ABLE
I keep everything disabled anyway. Only social media apps really need it and I don't use them.
>implying 1 or 2 gb ram isn't enough
>androids have almost the same amount of ram as my desktop and still lag and apps keep reloading

Oh fuck me I thought I was in Sup Forums. Thankfully, not like there is that much difference now-a-days.

16GB is suitable for streaming purposes and a few essential apps. Apple can milk this market, seeing as most iPhone users have low capacity phones, and can charge a bit per month for iCloud and Apple Music, etc.
64GB is tier two - consumers with medium/large amounts of content that require more than just a vessel for streaming. Reasons why people from the second tier undersell themselves is the price difference. And yes, +$100 for a storage boost is a lot to ask for, but keep in mind we're dealing with a luxury brand here. Your budget Android device can easily keep up in terms of storage for a lower price - and if price is your #1 bottom line, great. "Budget" is no longer in Apple's business model and it seems to be working. End of the day, arguing about business model tactics regarding products that are not marketed towards your demographic is an entirely fruitless waste of time.

~300 ppi is perfect. it's sharp and doesn't drain your battery as much as with higher resolution.

lmao at the iPhoners cherry picking Samsung phones as being representatives of all Android phones. Samsung phones are almost universally despised by Android enthusiasts, touchwizz lag and instability is well known.

> He Thinks Google forked JVM for the benchmarks.

Have you forgotten that a vast majority of phones before cellphone used Java Me? Java was choosen because everybody was using at that time.

Didn't Steve Jobs say how stupid it was to have any hardware based buttons when introducing the iPhone?

Yes and the fbi broke into it anyway with a 3rd party tool you stupid goy.

>Yes and the fbi claim to have broken into it anyway
Fixed.
But, oddly, they didn't find anything. Nothing that they were accusing Apple of complicity in hiding.
Go back and read the hysterical claims made by the NY attorney general.

0/10 didn't even flinch.

For enterprise sales where organizations won't be deploying phones with Infinity Blade 1, 2, and 3.
Push towards streaming media.
And yeah, so they can offer some kind of "cheap" option. But it's weird that the first jump is from 16 to 64.

And any you post the original iPhone? Back then 16GB was "huge."

desu I first thought I'd be very limited by my 16 gig iPhone (bought it used) but with Apple Music and me not installing many games anymore, helps my productivity and shit, I don't care anymore.
My next phone might be Android tho, with an SD card reader...

Because most IPhone users can barely afford it, so they laboriously gather money to then buy the cheapest model and pretend they are wealthy.

I got the 16GB iPhone SE and am fine with the storage. I stream everything and use a clip+ for my music.

>mfw that glorious iOS Crunchyroll app

I am in a queer position as someone who has grown up in a generation of people who use their smart phones as much as people used to smoke cigarettes (thank my father for that analysis), and is one of the few that feels no need to use their phone.

Personally right now my phone is an iphone 5c (yes I recognize how bad that is to say, I'm moving to Android once that piece of shit fails). However, it's 16 gb, and I barely use it.

Why would I?

I have a laptop that I do all of my programming and development on, either when traveling or at school, and everything that I need other than that, notes, communication, streaming, music, is already taken care.

The only thing that a smartphone could provide that a handy laptop couldn't was maybe a more handy on-the-go python interpreter and linux command line that I could carry in my pocket, but I'm not going to bother with that until I have an android phone that I can root, and don't have to go through any sort of chink shit with the iphone to unlock and use like a desktop environment.

The whole point of getting the phone was so I didn't have to rely on the school's desk phone at the front office, but even then it was a matter of convenience and not necessity.

>having to install a custom pajeet rom in order to enjoy the OS
>implying Cyanogenmod is pajeet when they write it in Seattle, WA, USA
0/10 Try harder.

I went from a 16GB iPhone 6 to a 128GB Nexus 6P. I DL'd a shit ton of stuff to the Nexus (movies, my entire music library, etc) but honestly I didn't need that much. I could have gotten by with 64GB no problem. I rarely watch movies on a phone and really don't need the shitty track from the ass end of every album I have. 16GB is unusable at this point, though. Barely even enough for apps.

Android users need 250 gigabyte phones to put their torrents on. iPhone users just pay for Netflix and 16gb is fine,
