>Tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) touched two-week lows on Thursday on concerns for mobile earnings after it delayed shipments of its premium Galaxy Note 7 smartphone amid reports of exploding batteries.
>The firm announced the delays for quality control testing late on Wednesday and also said Galaxy Note 7 shipments to South Korea's top three mobile carriers had been halted, rattling investor hopes for strong second-half mobile earnings.
>Quality control problems, if confirmed, could deal a major blow to the world's top smartphone maker, which was counting on the Galaxy Note 7 to defend sales momentum against new Apple Inc (AAPL.O) phones expected to be unveiled next week.
>A decline in Samsung's smartphone average selling prices and profits appeared inevitable given the current problems with the Galaxy Note 7, he added.
RIP Samshit.
Also, exploding batteries??? LMAO!
Not only is Note 7 getting demolished by a last year's iPhone, they can't even keep batteries from exploding.
>demolished by last year's iPhone >iphone 6 bent >iphone 6 overheating >iphone 6 touch disease sure thing kid
Grayson Bennett
>touchwizz
Jason Phillips
>when samsung finds any issues >halts shipments to make sure problems are fixed
>when iShit explodes >applel stonewalls and pretends it doesn't happen and keep selling until hit with lawsuits and millions of customers with 3rd degree burns
Asher Thomas
Is because nobody cares if iCuck FANBOY gets blown up by their battery. Literally human detritus.
Jaxon Butler
This
Every normal company does this
Though this should be a lesson on how swappable batteries are always a better deal
Lincoln Lopez
>samsung is kill
I hope you realize they are so big they could buy Apple using their single quarter budget.
Isaiah Edwards
Touchjizz sucks
Joshua White
Buying Apple would be a loss. They're quickly fading into irrelevance and their giant $97b debt in the US could just barely be paid off by their offshore cash after 40% taxation.
Julian Bailey
Don't forget
>Screen is easily scratched >Phones randomly brick after a few days of use Why do Samsung phones have such a low build quality and QC issues? It's not like the phones are cheap. And even cheap chinkphones don't have these issues.
Nathaniel Jenkins
>millions of customers with 3rd degree burns
Wait, when did that happen?
Brody Sanders
You crop up in so many threads with this 97 billion number. Where are you getting it from?
I have been saying this for literally years, lithium batterys are literally tiny fucking bombs that can be set off with a pinch, who thought this was worth it for phones?
Hunter Adams
>now
Andrew Ortiz
>screen is easily scratched Mine is fucking scratched already and I got it on launch. So like, two weeks ago.
Its been in nothing by an empty pocket.
FOR FUCKS SAKE I HATE SCRATCHES.
Cooper Nelson
Fuck samsung
Eli Hill
It's good to see Samsung are doing something about it within days of the problems arising.
Apple would still be in denial mode.
Colton Jackson
Note7: Scratch like shit Shit exploding like Michael bay movie Bootloops worse than LGG4
Sam fucking shit
Jacob Long
>buying an exploding phone
Eli Adams
I love mine. Had it two weeks and it's fucking awesome! Fuck apple!
Leo Butler
>might have been circumvented if battery was replaceable This is yet another reason of an infinite reasons to have removable batteries. Fucking retards.
Literally the only reason I didn't get a Note 7.
Not only this, but Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices have been reportedly bricking themselves, which is also most likely the result of bad practices i.e. the lack of documentation regarding the in-house Exynos chips, a fact that is also probably the case internally within Samsung which lead to this fiasco.
Serves the fuckers right. If the Note 8 doesn't introduce a removable battery I'm getting the next iteration of the LG G Stylo.
Josiah Bennett
Samsung is currently killing their own fanbase with shittier phones each generation.
My sister has used a Samsung phone since the SIII and even she, with little to no tech ability can tell shit has gotten worse in terms of bugginess.
Samsung might just fuck themselves hard enough for users to start putting LG, HTC, Sony and the like back in the spotlight.
Here's hoping.
Logan Nelson
nothing of value was lost
Oliver Hill
it wasnt millions but there have been a few reports of some people and plenty of articles. i wouldnt be surprised if that number was actually somewhere around a hundred
David Richardson
That's why I'm looking forward to getting the Axon 7. Tired of the big boys treating us like shit
Dylan Hill
Is this real or is this the same article about the Note 7 blowing up when using unofficial chargers?
Hunter Evans
Exploding batteries can (and does) happen with all phones. Can't 100 % prevent it. Just if you use low quality batteries it happens more often.
Benjamin Morris
Have you guys not heard of the exploding iPhone 5C? All you need to do is shove something in the 3.5mm jack. Saw a few videos, the explosion could potentially kill or seriously injure you.
Dominic Miller
Never bought a Samsung phone and boy am I super glad I never did. All of my friends' and family members phones were Samsung and they all just randomly started to break and give them problems. They took care of them very well (I know because I saw how they use their phones, they even use bought a lot of protection for them), but they just inevitably break. The planned obsolescence about Samsung products is not a meme, avoid Samsung as much as you can.
Henry Anderson
>All you need to do is shove something in the 3.5mm jack. Yeah, or smash and bend the battery or try to open it with a knife. And if you put in the pen the wrong way in one of the Galxay Note variants, it would get stuck and potentially destroy your phone.
How horrible.
Nathaniel Thompson
>shove something in the 3.5mm jack
I don't see why would anyone do this, unless you want to break your own phone.
Evan Gutierrez
uhh, headphones?
Josiah Morales
I haven't had any problems with my Samsung phones.
Mind you, I only bought two. The Note and the Note Edge.
Maybe I shouldn't say I haven't had any problems though. My Note stopped working. It doesn't charge so it won't turn on. It could be the battery, which is over four years old now, so I'm going to try a replacement. Battery life up until then was fine though so I don't know why it would suddenly die if it was just the battery. It draws about half an amp when I plug it in but it just doesn't charge the battery, or the phone doesn't see charge from the battery.
Jacob Jenkins
Am Korean here, this shit is real and Samsung will announce their plans for a possible recall tomorrow.
Eli Wright
uhh, no. I've never heard of iphones exploding when someone uses headphones with them. I'm pretty sure that guy meant shoving a nail or something into the port which wasn't meant to go into there anyway.
Jack Allen
>it would get stuck and potentially destroy your phone. That's an outright lie. It would just stop detecting when you remove/insert the S-pen, which wasn't a huge issue unless you turned on the don't lose my S-pen option that would bug you about the S-pen being missing.
It was a shitty design decision, but don't overstate the consequences.
Jackson Sullivan
Yep, same exact issues. Phones got fucked so bad that the firmware somehow got corrupted and I needed to flash it with newer firmware from samsung's website when their phones broke. Among a multitude of other problems with the battery, the phones getting slow for no reason (I even formatted the entire phone and removed everything, it still ran like a slug). I never trusted Samsung and seeing this just rises my distrust in them even more.
Carson Walker
Lideraleelideraleelideralee
Aaron Williams
that sounds like a user issue, how the fuck do you corrupt the firmware?
Elijah Lopez
Probably rooting his phone and fucking it up.
You can't corrupt it otherwise. You have no write abilities for those areas unless you use odin or root it.
Thomas Myers
>that sounds like a user issue
I thought that too, I asked my friend and he just said "it literally just turned off by itself and gave me this screen telling me to use Odin". We went to a guy who was a specialist in this kind of shit and he said that the processor randomly stopped which I don't really understand. It literally just stopped working, according to both of these people. My friend also never tried to root or use a custom ROM on his phone.
Jonathan Thompson
>"it literally just turned off by itself and gave me this screen telling me to use Odin" User error.
Nathan Reyes
lmao sure it did.
Gavin Rogers
Trust me I know this guy, he isn't exactly the kind of person to mess with his phone a lot, he just uses it to view email, answer calls and watch youtube videos.
Nathan Johnson
Samsung keeps documentation regarding their processors relatively recondite and isolated, even within Samsung. I don't doubt it's exactly because of it that the firmware is shitty and bricking devices.
Jayden Sullivan
>Trust me Alright, if you say so. I trust you.
Juan Howard
Don't forget >Geekbench updates app to allow for more accurate tests >iPhones remain unchanged, score ~2400 single core >samshit scores drop to ~1800 >samshit cheats again
Carson Sanders
Everyone lies when they fuck something up. Official devices won't tell you to use Odin. The Odin software we use to flash devices is not official. If the processor "randomly stopped" then it wouldn't be saying to use Odin because the processor is required to display that information.
It sounds a hell of a lot like he fucked up flashing it.
Daniel Hill
Yea but still, it goes to show you how easy it is to break any battery.
Brandon Hernandez
>implying samsung will ever kill They are like 1/3rd of the South Korean economy. They make phones, TV's, soap submarines, medical equipment, tea, cars, books, trains, etc. If they make a slight loss, they can easily offset it if they believe something still has long term prospects.
Austin Rodriguez
>geekbench updates to be more favorable towards apple devices by weighing SHA more highly and scaling based off iphone results >performance literally hasnt changed at all but competitors look worse Geekbench is beyond a joke at this point.
Nicholas Lewis
"Official devices won't tell you to use Odin"
It literally said "access recovery mode and use Odin or Kies in order to install new firmware" when the phone broke down, that's the screen it had for the rest of the day.
I don't know if he's lying or not, but the fact that hundreds of people out there have the same issues and even the pajeet phone specialist at the mall said the same thing, makes me trust him more than a bunch of shills on Sup Forums.
Cameron Martinez
roasted smashit shill detected
Charles Morales
Yeah, it literally doesn't say to use Odin because Odin is a third party tool which uses the download mode on Samsung devices (which is called Odin).
Isaiah Phillips
SAMSHIT HOUSEFIRES
Parker Gutierrez
Different guy here. Some Samsung devices will display a message telling the user they are in "Odin Mode" and to restore using a factory firmware. This is probably what he's talking about. Samsung Devices have an Odin mode. Then there is a tool called Odin which uses that mode to flash firmwares. You're both retarded.
Jeremiah Torres
This is what best Korea prevented when they didn't allow their athletes to take a free s7
