seems like great specs but I like the chinkpad looks more.

Dat lack of bezel

Ungh

Im poor, I just salvaged a little samsung N150 with atom processor to use at my university.

>dell

What model is this and how much?

I want a new laptop but literally no point on spending more than a few hundred on tech that will be quickly outdated and XPS are usually...not cheap

Also: what happened to the dell outlet. Used to be able to pick some real bargains up there. Now outlet laptops are pretty much the same price as new.

Why would I need a laptop? I don't work at some hipster company too cheap to set up real offices so they force people to work at Starbucks.

got one and my only gripe was the gnarly coil whine that got much worse when scrolling. Other than that it was the quietest computer. They wouldn't fix it so I returned it.

this is literally an ad

Because there's no Atom option.

Because the Yoga 14 i7 (2015) rapes it for half the price

>Why don't you have one yet?
Because my T520 is plenty of laptop for me, and I have more important things to spend my money on.

I have a similarly speced ideapad.

>16:9
No thank you.

cool
is it under $200?

>go on dell websites
>products >laptop >for home
>search by OS
>no linux

>have to go to professional laptop
>prices start at $1049
>doesn't have a discrete gpu

And they really except people will buy those overpriced laptops ? Who the fuck is dumb enough ?

I'm a poorfag and can only afford used business laptops with poor battery life.

>mobile processor
>13" screen
>Ubuntu

They would have to pay me an hourly rate to use such shit.

>overpriced dual core shit
no thank you

>touch
Enjoy your glossy screen.

>Ubuntu 14.04

Why not 16.04? This doesn't make sense.

>This doesn't make sense.
What doesnt make sense is the network manager still being broken after the 16.04.1 release

Looks like trash compared to any business notebook

is that a nipple mouse?

>13.3" 1920x1080 or 3200x1800 w/touch

you nicely listed them out for me
1080p is too small to comfortably read without scaling on a 13" screen, and 3200x1800 obviously requires scaling (at least it can do proper 4:1 scaling)
it also has ubuntu on it which would be fine for a server, but not for a computer I'm using.
and for me I want a quadcore i7, not a dualcore low voltage part.

Yes, HP and dell have them too on the good models

Yes, laptops tend to have mobile processors. Genius deduction you have there shit dick.

>1080p is too small to comfortably read without scaling on a 13" screen
>tfw years of companies shitting out 15.5 inch 1366x768 monstrosities means reasonable resolutions need scaling to deal with small UIs

isnt that overkill if you wanna run linux?

For those shitting on the i5-6200u, my laptop has it, running Windows 10 paired with a Radeon M330. It's not too bad. I can edit 1080p video in Adobe Premiere, use Photoshop etc and it's fine. It's also nice and energy efficient for when you're only browsing the web. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for people who do regular video production or gaming, but for other tasks it holds up well.

Waiting for thinkpad refresh and / or kaby lake

>not mentioning the price

dude tell us how much you have to pay for it

It'll save you from 100 dollars if you want to buy a new laptop (you just can pirate windows and wipe ubuntu)

>Linux is only for servers meme
Never used anything but OSX/Windows, have you?

I have the mid-2013 model.
It overheats (and throttles) very easily, even after cleaning the fan and replacing the thermal paste.
There is just no space for a heatsink big enough to handle an "ultrabook" i7.
Dell also doesn't want to sell parts. They only want to send a technician to replace it for you, even if I can easily do it myself.
But the screen is nice, it's small and light and that's what I like about it.
I should have bought a MBP though.

And every Thinkpad.

Price?

You got the $100 save from the price of Windows? And anyways, pirating isn't necessary since G2A.com has windows keys for like $20

I've used ubuntu as my main OS when I was at school
now that I have my macbook I never want to use it on the bare metal of my main machine again.
in a server? fuck yes, I love it.
but on my main machine? I'd rather stab my eyes out

>thinkpad t460
>14" FHD matte screen
>i5-6200U
>two batteries, the external one can be pulled out and replaced while the system is running
>can run it for 20h on a single charge with the large external batt
>good build quality, unlike dell xps shit

best purchase ever, never going back to dell

Not if you launch a VM with Windows or Android-x86

Starts at 1,000- all the bells and whistles maxed out ends just north of 2500.

You can install Ubuntu (or any OS) on any computer.

And because Ubuntu is preinstalled I don't get a free windows OEM key.

Why should I buy this again?
[barebone notebook masterrace]

>Free OEM key.
The OEM license is included in the notebook's price.

looks like it doesn't have a fan

Horrible design. No one beats the ThinkPads...

but i already own one
