What's the solution to this?

idk, buy another computer or something i guess
Idk, it works fine for me using these
Get used to it or stop using extensions, stupid. Go figure a brand new installation with nothing bogging it down and nothing using extra resources runs faster than something that probably uses twice the ram if not more. Next you're going to tell me your car used to be really fast until your fat ass mom got in the passenger seat.
The main problem is that Firefox leaks memory badly even with mandatory extensions like ublock, noscript, tree tabs, HTTPS everywhere, greasemonkey for 4chanX. Doesn't really leak when it doesn't have any extensions but is unusable without them.
Have you tried disabling them one by one to see if there's a specific add-on causing the slowdown?
FIx or at least report the memory leaks you lazy pig.
I only know how to consume. Sorry. I figure someone else has reported the memory leaks.

thumbnail zoom plus
perfect not only for pics but for gif and webm too
It's probably https everywhere
Is it possible to use this addon, and still see spoiler image filenames?
What extensions? You don't need anything other than download helper and that's only if you download shit often. Adbock if you don't modify your hosts file. And maybe user agent tweak. Also https everywhere and noscript if you're worried about security. That's only a few extensions and shouldn't slow your Firefox down.
How legit is this?
idk. why don't you try it?
Just use 4chanX newfags. Unless you're a redditor there's no reason to use that thumbnail zoom shit.
what do you need to know? do you know what you're doing
thumbnail zoom shit works outside this cesspole you call your home. cocksucker.
And which sites where images are commonly posted in thumbnail form are you browsing often enough for that to be of any use? I can only think of one and it starts with red.
OP here, that's exactly what I (sort of) use.
Followed the recommendations here, including the tweaking described below:
I use 4 of the extensions and it feels very bloated.
take 20 painkillers with vodka and go to bed
Maybe I know what I'm doing, but not with what. I don't know many encryptions or protocols.
Not an argument.
>bloatware
>needing extension
I don't understand FireCuc.ks understanding of being a webbrowser 2bfh famalalms
There's no panacea, it's just a link in the chain. Insecure cipher suites are only a problem if the server support them. Some suites don't require the server to prove that they can serve the traffic for the site they claim to, making them easy to man-in-the-middle.
Forcing TLS 1.2 is good, OCSP may break alot of websites, SSL safe negotiation as well.
I'd recomming using DNSSEC thru DNS Crypt or equivalent.
I don't get "memory leaks"
If *you* do that means that someone is trying to exploit you. Memory leaks don't always just "happen". If you are getting behavior like that, you are probably being attacked by a zero-day exploit and reporting it will close the hole, because they can figure out where the exploit is possible.
There isn't really a solution. Firefox is bloated and only becomes more bloated the more addons that one installs; and because it's bloated with useless features and lacks critical functionality that /must/ be added through addons, you're left with no choice but to endure the lagging and freezing and inconvenience that comes with exploiting literally the only reason to continue using Firefox-based browsers in the year 2016: customizability/extensibility.
If you aren't a dev of the browser or addons yourself, there's nothing you can do to make things easier on yourself.
All that said, what addons are "essential" depends on what functionality you need. I for instance need a duplicating tabs feature, undo close tabs feature, UI minimization, tab thumbnails, YouTube downloader, Session Manager, MAFF, Thumbnail Zoom Plus, FEBE, and the security addons like NoScript and Bluhell and Clear Console, plus more than that. I made a whole list of every single extension in Firefox's repository I needed, and the number came to 121.
You just have to figure something out. Disable what's not needed most of the time, and try to find the most efficient addons for the job out of the ones who all provide the same functionality.
well, shit. this is minimal for me:
feelsbadman
Use Greasemonkey userscripts and bookmarklets. For example, I use a script for thumbnail image zoom instead of Imagus.
