I have around 900 dollars to work with. I want to be able to run battlefield one with no problems and I also need to buy a monitor/keyboard/mouse. I have never built a PC before but this will be my first time. Can you guys recommend me the best setup for my buck? I also need something that I can upgrade in the spring because that is when I will be getting more money in.
>Please help this dumb no knowledge noob in getting a setup that won't break my wallet and be worth my time
Or put that money in your bank account and play older games for free.
fuck that site
used workstation+gpu upgrade is the Sup Forums method

i've always gotten cheap asrock motherboards and they work perfectly
gtx 1060 should be fine for bf1 at 1080 along with an i5

I'm going to post my specs because I'm basically in the same situation
I've got a 5-6 year old build that I want to last a couple more years. I'm going to buy another triple channel 6GB RAM kit for a total of 12GB.
The other main upgrade is a GPU. I was thinking about getting the MSI GTX 1060 6GB version.
Just wanted some input I suppose, I don't think my CPU will be a problem, mostly just running out of HDD space and GPU is not able to handle most current games.

nigger 900 is more than enough
get a 6 core AMD chip, or a quad core intel, so spend maybe 150 on CPU. buy a cheap motherboard which fits the CPU, it should have ethernet built in. then get 16GB RAM, a DVD drive for $20, and spring for maybe a 900 something graphics card. then go to frys and get a cheap case +PSU combo, make sure the PSU is enough for your system. keyboard+mouse combo is $30. not mechanical but decent. used monitor on craigslist. and pirate windows 7 from someone who has the disc.

Earlier this year I built my dream PC and I was met with so many disappointments. I learned i don't really like gaming that much anymore, an that I've wasted entire months of my life, possibly years on video games.
I spent over $600 dollars on my "dream" pc and instantly regretted it OP. Look, I know you aren't me, but believe and trust me, it isn't worth it.
When you realize how much time you've lost to movies, TV, games, mindless entertainment, you wish you could have it all back.

You'd be better off paring a RX 470 with your current CPU than a 1060 or 480.

Why don't you focus on school you stupid nigger. Sad!
Kevin Brooks
What's the reasoning behind it pairing with my CPU better than the others?

forgot to mention get a 3TB HDD for like $80. I spent around $700 on my build, it took me a day start to finish. the research took the most time, it didn't need to though.
>went to Fry's >grabbed an AMD FX-8320 >found a motherboard that works with the CPU, picked an MSI 970 gaming >got 16GB of whatever RAM was on sale >got a GTX 750 GPU, didn't think I'd need much more >got a 3TB western digital HDD for $75 >got a 120GB SSD for $39 >got a Thermaltake Keyboard/mouse combo for $29 >got a cheap case that came with a 450W PSU, plugged in all the components on Pcpartpicker to check that thew volatge would work >bought it all and assembled in a day
the only things I had to pick up were a wireless card, because I personally couldn't connect with ethernet to my modem, and a molex to SATA cable for my extra drive. and I used an old DVD drive from a broken PC I found. those are cheap.
My monitor is a ViewSonic VP-201s I found for free in a dumpster. it has one dead pixel.

General performance. The 930 performs worse than a $80 Athlon nowadays. I'd assume their would be a noticeable bottleneck on anything higher than a 470.

pick one

Is there another board that has USB 3.1 with solid power delivery at $56?
Cooper Cook
Why exactly do you think the MSI board with 3.1 (which doesn't matter anyway) is cheaper than the others with 3.1? Take a WILD GUESS
Andrew Miller
Just pick up a shitty fx series cpu and a used 770 for like $80. slap them into a cheap mobo and case + 8gb of ram and you should be fine at 1080p.
it'll barely cost more than 300/400 bucks too. Save the remainder for doing actual useful things in your life.
Jace Mitchell
Because it's a B150 budget board?
USB 3.1 is just nice to have

this post is a great example of why college should not be free. your tax dollars will be paying for adult daycare for 100 million manchildren like this.

Put it in a savings senpai. Write down all the games you want on PC and start saving what you can. I am doing that right now myself. Been dying to play TW: Warhammer but want the best gaming pc possible(within reason).
Carson Morgan
Who gives a shit. all games still come with dx11 modes and run fine on nvidia hardware. A 770 is still a good cheap 1080p card. even better if you can get the 4gb one.
