What are you talking about?

ur mum didn't abort you

Nothing.

The quality of the 1956 photography is amazing. I always thought color photos weren't common until 70's.

no one said that was taken in 1956 you dingus

>2016
>60 TB SSD

Nothing?

Your mother wouldn't swallow so instead she incubated you.

I bet you that 5MB drive had 10x the useful information on as that 4TB drive.

le wrong generashun

Video games and HD anime is not important information.

I bet if you went through all your storage and only kept important things you'd end up with an absolute fraction of what you had at the start.

My 4TB drive is full of javs so probably not

5mb is much comfier desu

>personal computers
Only the government and military should have access to computers

japanese anime videos are not important

it's like when I go through my entire self and find out that there's nothing of value

>anime
oh user

I don't know. I think the public should be allowed 8bit machines.

I include myself when I say that normal people will just waste anything more.

It really is amazing. They aren't common because high resolution, 4k cameras were really expensive then.

Look at nazis super8 color footages from ~1940, agfa did incredible things with its engineers and Jewish slaves

It wasn't common but it was incredible, way better than kodak or everyone else

With the victory of the allies we had "freedom" but if Germany won we would have incredible technology

Everything

Its sitting in a modern fucking office you retard. Am I on a tech board or YouTube comments here?

...

The hurricanes and typhoons and all HDD mfgs being owned by like two umbrellas.

And then them whining about the damage and keeping prices jacked up despite them having had far more than adequate insurance on everything.
HDD prices are a fucking scam.

It's always interesting old times in HD qualtiy.

Here's new york from the 90s in HD quality. Footage feels like it should be shot with todays tech but it's not

youtube.com/watch?v=fT4lDU-QLUY

color cameras were expensive as hell in '56, that's why you don't see as much color pictures.

>but if Germany won we would have incredible technology

The US and Russia took all the nazi scientists, that's partly why tech advanced so quickly after the war. The US got Wernher von Braun, which was instrumental for their rocket development. The USSR got Manfred von Ardenne, who helped them build their nuclear bombs. Etc etc

What were hard drives used back then for? What could be saved in such little/slow space that it made a 5MB monolith viable?

text files

youtubedoubler.com/?video1=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT4lDU-QLUY&start1=&video2=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V2sBURgUBI&start2=0&authorName=aphrocarlin

Compressed ASCII pornography.

It was more about seek times that storage space.

There were no color cameras in 56, just color films

I have a '47 zeiss ikon camera and I could put a color film in there, it's just harder to chose an exposition and the lens would be quite bad compared to a newer one
Color film was expensive thought and it wasn't good enough to justify itself

Yeah but they were already working on incredible projects, in the last days they even had jet planes, they were planning a space project and the reason they didn't have an A-bomb was that best physicians were against the party.
The Russians even robbed their industrial machines for heavy and mostly soft industry and that lasted for decades
They could have reached our level of technology in half the time, but the problem was the strong point, they were smart, organized and their model of socialism actually worked but it was an evil regime with a leader prone to war.
That can't last.

>Seagate
>Any year

How fast will that SSD fail? 60TB is a lot of data to lose.

>if you delete stuff you'll end up with a fraction of what you had
WOW

That's purely subjective, senpai :^)

The allies had jet planes and superior engines in terms of weight and thrust they, just didn't have swept wings.
German technical superiority is a myth most of the advanced weapons actually fielded were ineffective and diverted scarce resources.

It wasn't fucking little or slow in its day, it was a behemoth for storage. One of these could hold all the digital information for a large company back then. Why are people here so retarded?

It was all fueled by the war, and not sustainable in the long run. If the Nazis had won, I'm sure they would have done some great things, but I doubt they would have advanced as fast as the usd and ussr did during the cold war. Combined, the ussr and the US had a vastly larger GDPs and more smart people than the Nazis ever did. And more importantly, the cold war lasted for decades, which was an instrumental driving force behind the rapid advance of technology from the 40s onwards. I'm sure the germans under a prologned nazi rule would have created some truely unique engineering over the years though, I'm just not sure they would have had the same overall monumental impact as the cold war did.

>What could be saved in such little/slow space that it made a 5MB monolith viable?
content of over 5 million punchcards

this fucking thread man

I get that, dingus. I meant in comparison to just storing files/data physically.

So it would be much more efficient than physical storage. That's what I was wanting to know. Thanks familia

>more storage in less space is a bad thing

no if we could make buildings bigger on the inside the word would look like a collection of sheds

THe Cold War could have begun between Axis members. Germany combined with Europe and some parts of Russia vs Japan with Korea and China.

>year 3016 of our lord xedorA
>using a 60 terabyte ssd when 6 yottabyte sub-nano-quantum drives exist

fucking 3rd dimmies

>content of over 5 million punchcards

A punchcard could hold 80 characters.

So 5 MB == 62500 punchcards.

Just a handful of theese

That would have been a nasty war. Savagery beyond comprehension.

Hugo Schmeisser is the real author of Kalashnikov AK rifle, Not Mikhail Kalashnikov himself, btw.

>Reliable, durable, solid but simple design.
>German

I believe it.

What are the actual failure rates of seagate compared to its competitors? I'm considering buying from them because I have a good discount on a 1tb passport.

The failure rate meme came from one batch of shitty 3TB drives. I have a 1TB external from Seagate and the drive has lasted some five or so years now. The SATA to USB controller was a fragile piece of shit that got fucked up quickly, but I just busted open the case and took the drive out to use as an internal and it still works just fine.

The barracuda 7200.11 1.5tb was also a piece of shit

This is troll, right?

too much white people

>not reading the thread

Why does anyone need military-grade storage media?

Its no different than WD or Toshiba. The failure rate fiasco was because of the 1.5 and 3 TB drives failing. Keep in mind this was when the factories got flooded and QC was not viable

I hate you

lol no

Your virginity isn't either, but you grasp on to it for dear life anyway

Are the hard drives they use for modern supercomputers also unusually large?

The real question is why can't I buy 25 platter 1PB HDDs?

I'm thinking about starting a modern production of punchcards here, in Mexico.

please share

sorry, you need to wait till 2019 for a proper consumer version

the real jews are black people.

why do you think EVERYBODY hates black people. those are curses out on us by god. we are his choosen people not the edomite whiteman. christ is also a black man too (rev 1:14)

>ONLY 17 drives

>most of the advanced weapons actually fielded were ineffective
welcome to engineering, where most of your ideas will be shit in practice. Especially military, in wartimes you don't get to test things extensively.

>The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.

Do you think that truck sized hdd pictured is anywhere near a "consumer version"

I have some Eastman Kodak color movies from the '20s.

I wasn't going to find more porn videos today, but now I must find hers. Have some Sophie Dee

>It's always interesting old times in HD qualtiy.
Check out these color photos from America in the 1930s to 1940s:

The Germans were obsessed with Quality. Dr R V Jones (head of British scientific intelligence) said that if they ever wanted to know the ownership of a radio transmitter they'd just check its stability; the stable one was German.
They wasted hours polishing the armor on tanks. The Russians left theirs rough and built more tanks that the Germans could.
Similarly with their aircraft. Too much work went into items that could have been "good enough".
Beaverbrook offered Churchill the best planes in the world in a month's time or second-best tomorrow. Churchill took the second-best.

No, modern supercomputers are just a bunch of rack servers connected to a hub.

and so is the 60 tb ssd
