Flat/Metro/Material design is superior in every way, shape & form over garbage that is Transparent and Glossy.
>Le ebin glossy shit
for you
Literally nothing is stopping you from implementing your own shitty vista-looking graphic user interface on everything.
Flat and minimalism is supposed to be more compact, but the trend is on space wasting with stupid margin and large empty space everywhere
>HURRRRRRRRR FLAT DESIGN
I really want Google to go bankrupt, they're the kikes that are pushing this shit
I agree.
Apple only rushed out their flat-disaster re-imagining of iOS (7) because they wanted to erase any visual remnant left of Scott Forstall, who was kicked out. This is how Apple operates y'see. If you piss whoever is in charge at Apple, they take it as an invitation to erase you from their collective memory. Shame they couldn't drop iOS while they were at it (as it was Scott Forstall and his team that designed it) as that would sink them wouldn't it? Scott must laugh at neo-Apple these days.
>they're the kikes that are pushing this shit
Actually, that'd be Microsoft taking inspiration from the design community at large. Digitally this goes back to zone, physically it goes back further than that.
Yes, let us go back to skeuomorphism, because having speaker grills and analogue clocks everywhere was so great.
Don't get me wrong, metro/material design has quite a few limitations as well but it's a step in the right direction.
Is flat and matte Web 3.0 ?
>Yes, let us go back to skeuomorphism, because having speaker grills and analogue clocks everywhere was so great.
I see no problem with this.
If there's one thing I have noticed is, folks that like flat design generally have no taste. Y'know, they'll listen to pop music and think it is cool; they're "down with the kids, yo". Just ready to move on to the next latest fad. Hahha, those people.
>If there's one thing I have noticed is, folks that like flat design generally have no taste.
You joke but I've lost count of how many times I've seen this "argument" on Sup Forums. It's like those people who joke about an item not having a price in a super market. Yes, haha, that doesn't mean it's free. Vaguely amusing the first fifty times.
design.google.com
At least Metro looks clean, google's piece of shit looks juvenile and wastes fuck tons of space, and apple is just awful, almost as bad as google but in its own way
>argument
It's an opinion, not an argument.
And that's why it was in quotation marks.
While I agree that metro looks better, it leaves a bit to be desired as a UI. I think material design is superior in that respect though I have to admit that I haven't analysed it at all.
Google's Material is definitely the best imo. Its only flaw is the amount of wasted space but the use of particular palettes and subtle shadowing to give depth cues is really pretty.
Compared that to Microsoft: they just stick any old gaudy color together with white (or black) to make a mess of monochrome and next to no depth cues whatsoever while still wasting loads of space. Apple is one step above Microsoft tier however but still as puke inducing with it's horrible blurred "glass" and amateur-hour icons everywhere.
So why not just say "opinion" instead of trying to mischaracterize what I said was an argument?
>he does not use a tilling wm on his phone
I never characterised what you said as an argument, I characterised it as a joke because that's what it was, right? Right?
I was saying that others use it as an argument. I should maybe have been clearer but if you reread my post it was strongly implied.
>I should maybe have been clearer
Perhaps you should, yes. This is serious business you know.
>dat webm
Flat design is better. 3D shit is garbage, more resource intensive and pointless.
watch out
(i actually like flat design)
Material design is awful. It looks like it's made for kids and the fake shadows just add on to the look. The color palette is utter shit.
>more resource intensive
>2d
are you fucking stupid? OSes just keep getting more and more bloated
No. You must be blind or on drugs. But not the good kind of drugs.
If they toned down the shitty oversaturation, I'd like most of it.
Such an edgy opinion. Point taken, it's not perfect. But compare it to the cheap-ass looking shit that is Apple's. I'll take material any day.
>(((i actually like flat design)))
It's boring desu.
Flat design is lazy. They got rid of Scott because A: Steve was no longer there to protect him. B: He wanted to work hard.
Apple is a fashion company now that Jobs and Scott are gone, just look at the fucked naming schemes and new MacBook line if you don't believe me
You know that flat design is made so that stupid managers can force their employees to show the UI in powerpoint presentations, right?
>he wants retro glossy shit
Fuck off.
That's why Windows 10 eats up less than Windows 95.
So the opposite of current flat design is "Vista transparent shit"?
Fucking children, get the fuck out of here.
Unfortunately that's how most people think around the issue. If it ain't flat, it's gonna be like the first iPhone icons.
What most people don't think about is that there are many different styles to choose from or take inspiration from. You don't need to spend 12 days trying to make something look nice. You don't need to spend 15 minutes making something "simple" either.
I like being able to see borders and shadows on buttons. Being able to distinguish elements on screen.
Google did the material design thing pretty well. Apple fucked it up. Microsoft did too.
Didnt ask for these feels dammit
this set of icons is ugly.
> stolen from Adwaita
I would still be using Windows 2000 if programs supported it. The design was perfect and the memory usage was almost nothing. Now I need at least 1GB just for Windows 7 to run.
If that's you you have shit music taste
>tfw you still use a 4s but newer apps are starting to make it overheat and the touch screen doesn't work as well as it used to
4S user here, I have neither of those problems. Lack of RAM and 4+ y.o. battery are the real bummers. I'm switching to a 7 soon so I won't bother with the battery
>the touchscreen on my 5s failed one morning
I'm really mad about this ngl; i'm getting an SE though because i don't trust any other phone design
you're better off with an SE desu familia
Where do we go now? It seems like design got more and more simple.
How much more simple can we get? It seems like we are too self-aware anymore to go back to overdesign.
Monochrome and almost entirely text only
Or something that looks like the pastel Sup Forums linux desktops but with more animation
>the memory usage was almost nothing
You tend to forget bad things in the past, don't you?
>Monochrome and almost entirely text only
Got your back, man
GOOD OLD TIMES
sweet jesus, to think that at some point i used to think this fisher price piece of shit looks better than win98 rectangular design
That's dope
Aero Glass is the best ^^ Also Android 4.4 and iOS6 were the last good looking mobile OSes.
It's literally the iOS gaussian blur but shiny
