trying to adjust settings for madvr, and some of the settings go below the visble extent of the window, but I see no way to scroll down in the window or resize it.

How do I view those settings being cut off?

If I streamed some movies online, would I get fined millions of dollars? I'm guessing the audience wouldn't be more than about 20-30 people.
My ISP is Time Warner, if it matters.

Best place to buy used cisco equipment? I'm looking through ebay and craigslist but I'm wondering if there is anywhere else I could try.

I want to leave gmail. ProtonMail look like a good alternative, however I don't like the fact that I cannot change the mailbox password without loosing all my previous e-mails.

Any other good alternative to gmail, not hosted in the US ?

im looking for an application that lets use my phone as a wifi hotspot. however there are a few caveats. it needs to be able to spoof the mac address and connect to the internet via usb.

Do VESA mounts care about orientation? I want to do something like pic related with three identical monitors. Will I need to get a special mount for it or would any one do?

Monitors not properly proportioned nor scaled.

On a laptop, how do I change speaker quality settings and display refresh rate settings?

Right clicking those devices in the device manager and going to properties doesn't show it

They do. The example you used, however, does support 360 degree rotation.

thanks senpai, same process more or less for speaker then?

Is this what you're looking for? I don't really know much about audio settings.

So, what's a better deal, the RX 480 or Fury, and which one will age better with time?

I'm going to be using a few monitors, but does four extra GB of RAM really matter?

By the way, a fury is going for cheap on Newegg right now, check it out: newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202186&cm_re=amd_fury-_-14-202-186-_-Product

Also, for whichever one is superior in price/performance, which one is the best one to get?

Or should I just get a 470 if I'm looking for price/performance?

When's Black Friday?

yes, thanks

Need some major help, /sqt/. I can't tell if my D850 LG G3 is saveable or is hard-bricked.

I planned to install CM 13 on it. Rooted it with KingRoot, flashed "Download Mode" to fastboot and got TWRP ready. A problem arose; at the top-right I got a boot vertification error.

Apparently the TWRP version I downloaded was mismatched. However, I ignored this since it was just the recovery image, and decided to go the easy route and use LGFlashTool. Didn't realize you needed to keep the original boot image, so I initially went through the steps of erasing fastboot and restoring it with the original. The thing is...the original image is located in the internal storage of the phone.

So I decided to find a similar boot image online and flash that on there. Bad idea.

My phone is definitely bricked, but I have access to fastboot. However, fastboot commands aren't working. It'll say "writing" recovery, but it'll freeze there and won't continue through... this happens with all the commands.

cont.

So basically fastboot works but it also doesn't work. My phone is detected but the commands refuse to work at all both on GNU/Linux and Windows. I have a copy of the original boot image but I can't access it because the phone is bricked.

Is there anything I can do before doing anything physical to the hardware as a last result? I've been trying to solve this for the past day so far. I tried lurking Pajeet-developers for the solution, but people with the same problem as me are ignored.

I know nothing about encrypting a hard drive. I have windows 10 and would like to do this. What is the best software to do so?

How do I use an another country's proxy? I am afraid that I'll download random shit that'll give me a virus and won't work either

The other day, under a lot of time pressure and desperation I plugged a friend's USB drive into my laptop (Windows 10, fully updated) in order to transfer a file to it. Lo and behold almost the moment it's plugged in Windows Defender instantly detects and removes a fucking worm off my shitty friend's drive.

microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/Encyclopedia/entry.aspx?Name=Win32/Gamarue

So after unplugging the USB drive and PANICing for a bit I ended up finding and following a guide to disinfecting a PC
>run rkill.com
>run a full threat scan with Malwarebytes Antimalware both in normal mode and safe mode
>run Malwarebytes Junk Removal Tool
>run HitmanPro scan for good measure
>then run a full Windows Defender scan just for the hell of it.

All of which found nothing at all besides a couple of tracking cookies.

So having done all that, can I safely declare my laptop to have never been infected, or should I nuke Windows, do a clean install, and change all my passwords just to be certain?

Depends on how much you really care.
You have compromised the system, the only professional solution is to nuke it from orbit.
It's probably fine desu.

how good/bad is the quality of razer laptops?

Is there a way to get a phone number similar to 10 minute mail? Twitter is asking me to verify my phone number and I don't want to give it to them.

When I hold my mouse's left click it sometimes stops holding for a split second even though I didn't take my finger off the button.

It also randomly double-clicks when I only click once.

What's wrong with it? Is it fixable?

Never mind found one

post the service, i might need it in the near future

Hello,
I need to send a video with this fucking whatsapp app, the video is 720X576 with a length of 02:16 (minutes) in mp4 , but it is 22,7 MB and the maximum size allowed by whatsapp for sending video is 16 MB,...how can I reduce the size of this file under 16 MB??

Are there any good resources that explain discrete logic well? Especially natural deduction. I'm pretty confused by it.
Also, are there other places to ask about this kind of stuff? Literally /sqt/ is the only place that I actually get replies and I want other opinions.

Sounds like a hardware problem. Something seems to be interrupting the contact to the circuit. If cleaning it doesn't help I'd get a new mouse. The hardware of them can be quite finnicky.

Well shit is there any way to avoid this in the future? I switched to wireless mouses because I was sick of the cords always getting frayed and giving me problems, I didn't think I'd still have to deal with this kind of shit with a wireless one.

And do you have any recommendations on how to clean it? It doesn't feel like it can be taken apart without destroying it.

transcode it

with 2:16, and 16M size, the maximum average bitrate you can do is 941kbps

so,
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -c:v libx264 -b:v 800k -pass 1 output.mp4
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:a aac -b:a 128k -c:v libx264 -b:v 800k -pass 2 output.mp4

Assuming we have a string in the form of
"[ foo, bar, baz]"

How should I parse it so that I can extract the contents using Java?

>-c:a aac
>using ffmpeg built-in aac
>not using libfdk-aac

I've never had that specific problem, but on my current wireless mouse, my scroll wheel is stiff as fuck. I think it's a variation of your environment, your hands and the build quality of your mouse.

You could try blowing into it hard or using compressed air, or maybe there's a disassembly guide for your specific mouse. Good luck either way. They're very fiddly pieces of hardware.

i don't use aac at all, i'm only mentioning it because it's an .mp4 which can't into opus

Thanks,..but what is the difference between the first command an tne sceond?..."pass 1" - "pass 2" ?

what's the difference between ffmpeg-acc library and libfdk-aac library?

The built-in aac encoder is the worst aac encoder I've ever seen, not even transparent at 192kbps
libfdk-aac is one of the best quality
Two-pass encoding produces higher quality stream while keeping bitrate confined

thanks, but I read on the guide this:

- pass n
Select the pass number (1 or 2). It is used to do two-pass video encoding. The statistics of the video are recorded in the first pass into a log file (see also the option -passlogfile), and in the second pass that log file is used to generate the video at the exact requested bitrate. On pass 1, you may just deactivate audio and set output to null, examples for Windows and Unix:

ffmpeg -i foo.mov -vcodec libxvid -pass 1 -an -f rawvideo -y NUL
ffmpeg -i foo.mov -vcodec libxvid -pass 1 -an -f rawvideo -y /dev/null

so the commands above are correct?...how can I use libfdk-acc instead of ffmpeg-acc ?

Someone has a guide how to make a raspberry into an OpenVPN server? Everything I've found is either outdated or for making it a client.

you can discard the video like that suggests, i didn't write that because the method differs depending on your os (namely, "NUL" is windows-only)

>how can I use libfdk-acc instead of ffmpeg-acc
change "-c:a aac" to "-c:a libfdk-aac"

Are there legitimate reasons to use Firefox Nightly/Aurora as your default browser or is it just a meme?

So if a website has embedded HTML5 streams on its pages, and they only want people to watch them in browsers because ad money, is there a way to dig up a stream link anyway?

"Copy video address" doesn't work (fuckers made sure, I suppose)

How do box proofs (natural deduction) prove tautologies?
I can't see how they prove anything other than how to build a formula.

Is it a waste of time to go through programming books without exercises and which only focus on syntax? I'm doing it for HTML/CSS and I'm bored out of my mind and remember little. I've already gone through actual programming / intro to CS tutorials.

Should I just ignore O'Reilly books and pick a goal and do it?

Try CodeAccademy. That's how I learnt HTML/CSS. Highly recommend it. Gives you realtime exercises as it teaches you.
Different people learn in different ways though. I've found just tanking a textbook on C# was the best way to learn it for me. Try different stuff and see what you enjoy/what sticks.
So no, I wouldn't say going through programming books without exercises is useless at all. As long as you mess around with the stuff you're learning, it'll stick a lot more.

What stuff they share on /ptg/ - Private Tracker General: ? Stuff i never want to know?

where can i find uTorrent 2.0.4 for linux (ubuntu) or/and is it possible to install it on ubuntu

You are already being tracked

Where the torrents at?

what do you mean?

I heard miu-torrent is a virus

install "qBittorrent" instead of uTorrent:

sudo apt-get install qbittorrent

How do digital devices communicate?

I need to use the VS1053 audio decoder in a project and I have no idea how to make the audio files "go" to it from a storage device, in this case an ipod touch primarily though I'd like it to interface with just about any media device that communicates over USB.

I never got big into this digital arduino-y rasp-pi coding stuff preferring analog signal processing. As such I'm an idiot when it comes to basic shit like communication protocols or whatever.

gl_Position = vec4(x, y, z, ???????)

PROFIT!!!

What's the best way to passively cool a laptop, or prevent it from getting too hot?

Does anyone remember the name of that videogame playthrough website where the users also upload the videos to the Internet Archive? My favorite YT playthrough channel has been closed down and I need a replacement ;_;
Hard mode: it's not GameAnyone.

A ventilation tray. I use a Tacens Supra and it's doing fine.

Forget it, found it. World of Longplays

And farewell, galleyuk ;___;

Please recommend me a stable and decently fast torrent client. I used to have qBitTorrent, but it had too many bugs.

rtorrent

I forgot to say that I'm on Windows 10

What's the best Pc Monitor for around 120-180€ which has 1080p?

Xbox one s or Ps4 pro? Need something to game on till i have the money to build a pc next spring and i don't want to waste the money for the console on the worse one.

Are only words used in processor operations, or are bytes also used for that stuff?
I'm confused about the explicit difference between them. What does the processor do with a byte as opposed to what it does with a word?

I've got a Supermicro X7DBU motherboard (old socket 771 server motherboard) that I just got off Ebay and I'm not sure how to get it started. The PSU I'm using is rated at 650w and should be able to pump enough juice through, but it won't start if I connect all the necessary power inputs. The PSU fan will spin with the paper clip test, however.

I don't have any other PSUs with enough wattage to test on this motherboard, and even the low wattage ones are 10+ years old. I don't have any other desktop motherboards that aren't 10+ years old. How can I troubleshoot this without more components?

What is the best Android e-reader that supports PDF?

I'm trying to connect my PSP to my Wi-Fi but it says network not supported, then I remembered that my PSP used to use WPA-PSK(TKIP) so I went and change my router settings and got this message.

My question is: Is this important? Will this affect the speed of the network overall or just devices with TKIP that'll be slowed down?

Router is Netgear N300 DGN2200v4 if it matters

Pretty sure that's just security based.

Whick package in Ubuntu has the Resynthesizer plugin for GIMP?

Silly question:

$ svn list (link) lists the contents of my SVN repository (specifically, I'm listing the directories in tags).
The command echoes a line-break separated list. How would I extract only the last entry in BASH? I don't know in advance how many entries there are.
I know the answer must be simple but I can't figure it out.

For some reason S3 sleep is broken now. It just reboots when I try to turn it back on, and wake on mouse/keyboard does nothing. I think it coincided with a windows update. But I can't remember which one.

How secure are the Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security cameras? Will you guys be hacking them and livestreaming me fapping to animu?

Not turning it on.
Using it in the Antarctic.

What's a good free proxy? Nothing fancy, I only need it to avoid geo fucking, mostly on youtube.
I would really like it to toggle either with the press of a button in the browser or automatically for certain sites.
I'm using Waterfox.

Stupid question here. What's up with people using a HDD from one computer (has OS + their media) and popping in a new computer with vastly different hardware.

Would it still boot? Depending on AMD/Intel architecture obviously? What type of discrepancies will they face?

Gut instinct is that it wouldn't boot from that drive regardless of whether the new computer already has on OS on it. If there is a pre-existing OS, you'd be able to access all your old files as if the old HDD were a USB stick.

Does it really matter where the little prongs on an IO shield are touching as long as they're touching the port? I bent a couple of them and only realized afterwards that they were supposed to touch elsewhere, but they're still touching the ports, just the tops of them rather than right by the plug..

I found my 6-7 year old picture backups on my old computer, but none of the pictures have file extensions. If I manually put in .jpg I can see the pictures. Is there any way I can speed up the process or software that can open them? Thanks, getting access to these old files would be amazing(edited)
If i go into properties the file extension is just 'file'

Sup Forums, I lost my my 150gb porn folder today.

I don't even know how, it's just randomly vanished.

Is there way to find out what happened?

I'm currently backing up my media (gonna take 2hrs to transfer to external drive). I'm finally going to make the move for my main OS from windows 10 to linux mint. Did any of you guys have a lot of problems moving over?

Ask your mum why she deleted your 150gb porn folder.

Not possible, I have a password on my computer and lock it everytime I leave.

Also another question. I use plex for movies and tv shows and what not. Can I transfer the App Data folder for plex over to linux version to prevent having to rebuild the database over again?

i am on linux. i have my windows ntfs partitions mounted in fstab. i have set up, in fstab, under the ntfs partitions, uid=1000,gid=1000,umask=0000. this gives my user and group full permissions. i see it, i can read, i can write, properties will claim i own everything. in wine i have used the "desktop integration" feature to point wine to my windows documents folder, so i can share saves and settings and whatnot. however, no games can write to this folder. i am trying to play stalker shadow of chernobyl but my settings wont save and it wont read my windows saves. i know this requires some wizardry since to even get it to write to the right documents folder i had to make yet another link in the wine "c_drive/user/username/" folder called just "documents" which also points to "my documents" since the way stalker works is going to a folder named that and not "my documents". before i did this though it would save my settings in my linux partition under "documen~1/stalke~1" and im aware of this cmd shit scheme but it should be working now and i don't know what to do

openvpn is a fucking clusterfuck they need to rewrite everything

The transition should be smoothless, but you might run into issues with specific hardware combinations that require hours of googling and entering random commands into terminal.

Do you have speccy or crystal disk info installed? Check your SMART status, if it isn't all green then your hard drive is probably failing.

Their job is to ground the IO shield with ports. As long as most of them are touching metal and they arent blocking any ports they should be fine.

If you don't care about file names then you can just ctrl + a and rename one of them. If you want to preserve names then you'll need to write a script for it.

Might also be possible to have windows automatically open extensionless files with image viewer of your choise, but that'll affect every file that doesnt have an extension.

I have one!
My friend's computer has stopped working. When i presses the power button the fans start spinning and he even gets to the windows logo sometimes. But then it shuts off, I think it's the heatsink. Though it could be a lot of different causes. I wish to get another input on it since I'm biased, what do you guys think. Any tests that he can try?

This is the underside of my laptop. I want to put an external fan under it to help cool it down. Where should I put it? The right side is where it gets hotter, which is where the GPU is located. The center gets hot sometimes too, that's where the CPU is I think. Also, should it blow air inside, or be an exhaust?

Thank you very much! It was a silly little question, but I'm glad you reassured me about that.

Could be a failing mobo or power supply. Could be a heatsink too but it'd have to be

Push air in, it'll come out on its own. Try to find out which hole is used for GPU intake and put a fan on there to push as much fresh air in as possible.

But I doubt a single fan will make much of a difference. You'd get better results by dedusting it first and then replacing thermal paste if that doesn't help.

Thanks. I already dedusted it by the way, that helped too. I don't dare to replace the thermal paste though, I'm sure I'll fuck something up.

does mini displayport support 1440p144hz?

i have some files that i need to backed up and im trying to encrypt them with veracrypt before uploading them to mega.nz, but i dont understand how i can encrypt only the archive file? i tried looking at the veracrypt beginers guild, but that was only for creating new encrypted disk

try taking out the ram, and then placing them back in 1 by 1, different combinations. ive had something similar and turns out one stick was busted

whoops
>Could be a heatsink too but it'd have to be
...very loose for processor to overheat that quickly. If it worked fine before and your friend hasnt done anything stupid I doubt heatsink is the culprit.

The way you test these things is by removing as many components as possible and then inserting them back one by one if the problem disappears. Remove every cable except power cord, try loaning your PSU to him, remove the video card, try different memory configurations as suggested et cetera.

It is the same connector as proper DP, just in a smaller form factor.

I'm about to buy a 4tb hard drive for my home server which is running debian. I understand that I have to use GPT to partition it in order to access the full 4TB.

I intend on adding it as a network drive with samba. Will other operating systems such as windows work when mounting the drive, or will I have to perform any other steps?

When and why did Macs start using Bash as the default command shell? I distinctly remember tcsh being used in older Macs.

Seconding this question! I recently held an online viewing party, but was really paranoid about the potential consequences.

I ended up providing live commentary instead of just streaming it unedited in its entirety.

Dose anyone else cry when they watch this? (Happy Tears)
