They're literally the only society getting away with proprietary ports in europe (There's a regulation against that), and seeing how much cash they make with "Adapthurrs", they won't miss the opportunity to make cash selling those AND royalties on anything that uses the lightning port (Guess why they dumped the 3.5mm port, and put it back in another "Adapthurr" after public outcry)

We all will ditch usb-a eventually, but doing it entirely now on a "professional" machine just seems like corporate suicide.

I've never used a mac, I am coming from the awful linux end (which i know how to rice/operate manually) not the windows/macos UI candy. I don't expect much, I'd probably break it with customization anyway.

It's to plug Thunderbolt devices into the new Macbook Pro, since it only does Thunderbolt over USB-C.

Most people here can't afford to use a Mac or don't have a developed enough brain to do something the non-hard way and risk their technical credibility that they can tout online.

Look at these modular phones. G5, Motorola's half baked crap, project ara that fell apart. Look at the function bar on the X1 carbon. It doesn't matter if you're first when it's a shitty half baked implementation. There's a reason Apple never worries about being first. They're going to implement something when it's a functional asset to the phone, not a concept.

No, the motorola's implementation is incredibly slick that's why I mentioned it. The software is still android but motorola is usually some of the strictest implementations around anyway.

It's not about doing it first, motorola saw the Ara layout and did it in a way that apple would have done: Overpriced, heavily stylized, incredibly proprietary. I would imagine they also hold veto control over future mods.
