Whats the best keyboard for typing? I don't do gaming, maybe some times but not too much.
My budget is 150$ or less

How do I make my Cherry blues click louder?

Are there any mechanical keyboards in or just out of production that have a small backspace and bigass enter key?

get greens

Are model M keycaps compatible with model F keycaps?

What kind of layout is that?

You guys mean ISO

yes

>Massive right shift
>Umlaut button
>that abomination to the left of 'Z'
ISO a shit

...

No they mean a 1u backspace and an Enter key the size of ANSI enter and backslash combined.

No, but ISO is good nonetheless

Yes, this

steelseries and Addeso have enter keys like that, but I wouldn't recommend it as buying replacement keycaps will be a pain

Steelseries has a normal backspace tho

Really unusual layout really dont see the point

How bad are cheap chink ones?
I want a backlight but it's just overpriced here local.

You can get nice ones in PBT, just be sure its the same layout before buying

is this actually good or is he shilling youtube.com/watch?v=DvQkrx-y4iM

Eagletech sells some for 40 bucks

get a keyboard with japanese layout

The tomoko is better and its on sale right now on amazon so its cheaper

Anyone have the image for that modified ISO layout? Some user was posting it a while back calling it perfection over and over. I think it had some dolch colour scheme on it as well.

>PBT
I'm new to mkg, sorry not sure what that means.

I currently have cherry MX reds for my desktop, but I can't see myself typing fast on that. What would you recommend for typing and occasional gaming? Browns?

I'm in aus. Is that usd? Do they ship here?

I'll be honest, I like to slam down on the return key like a retard and the bigass enter does it for me

PBT is a different type of plastic used for keycaps. They won't shine up with use like ABS caps will.

fuck me this is cheap right now

Thanks

Just bought my first ever mechanical, needed something for my new pc build. Mostly gaming, but a bit of typing as well. My god does it feel good to type on these things. Between getting a mechanical keyboard and a SSD for my PC I feel like I'm in a whole new world of tech.

Side note, I had typed on mx blues before and liked the feel but they were a bit too loud, and wanted a bit more feedback than reds so I figured browns would be a good mid point. Tried them in the store today and they felt mushy and shitty, glad I went with mx reds

Man it really sucks to be in Australia everything is like 50 bucks more, but I did find this. Its 35 bucks more then the US equivalent:
aliexpress.com/item/RGB-backlight-E-Element-Z-77-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu-switches-Black-Blue-Switches-104-key-ABS/32480654823.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.1.Nr40Ff&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10091_10090_10088_10089,searchweb201603_1&btsid=9ebd53c1-c326-43e4-8721-a5316cd4390f

Man I feel bad for you. My only hope is that you didn't overpay for it.

Apparently non-rgb versions of the new topre realforce boards are going to retail for around $230

I hope they don't fuck it up with the variable actuation meme.

This is the one thing I don't get. Topre clones are becoming cheaper and cheaper, with more options to choose from, yet Realforce decides to discontinue their most popular and only budget board with CM and instead choose to make their own copy and sell it for more.

Its like they want they don't want to enter the mass market

Imagine a world where Topre is cheap

They're releasing a type heaven version as well that will retail in the low $100s and that will be the successor to the NovaTouch

Realforce is their boutique series.

You can actually get topre clones as low as 80 bucks now. Hopefully Realforce manages to stay competitive with them like how cherry does with Gaterons and Kailh

Why not get topre clones
mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1434
Heck if you want used you can get them for even cheaper

I guess we'll wait and see. Personally the type heaven is my favourite looking keyboard. I just hope they release a UK ISO version this time around.

Speaking of topre I was thinking of getting pic related for the SA profile keycaps, but for some reason they bundled it with these audiophile headphones so i skiped it. $380 was way too much

why are there 3 threads

Nice puffy vulva there.

It seems that we are getting popular. Maybe we have taken the memes too far.

nah

they're good memes

Are these actually similar quality to the $200 Topre boards?

>Budget
Up to $150

>Location (continent at least)
Mexico (yeah, yeah, I know)

>Preferred switch type
Nothing overtly loud, I remember an user posted last thread about Cherry Clears and Matias Quietclick and I'm interested in those

>Layout
QWERTY

>Form factor
TKL preferred

>Backlight
Not necessary

>Previous/current keyboards
None

So I've been setting my sights on getting my very first mechanical keyboard and wandering a bit I found this one: mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1941 but I need a bit more guidance. Any help?

The Omron romer g switches have two actuation points therefore half the chance of failure. Cheery MX is over and finished.

How good is Real Force vs Type Heaven?

Next board getting either RF or ducky shine whites

I feel bad for aussies. Shitty telecom companies screwing them over and shitty price ranges on components. They even censor the fucking kids cartoons if some character uses a stick as a weapon.

ducky at computex

"Flaretech Switch, Optical Lens Mechanical Switch."

Not a big fan of the design desu.

Telcos here aren't bad 2bh. I'm getting unlimited calls and texts with 30GB 4g data for 60 a month.

Our ISPs are pretty shit though, I'm paying over $100 a month for roughly 10 megabit speeds and a 300GB download cap, and that's the best possible deal we could get from them in this area.

Omron switches always had terrible build quality.
Its a shame though since they look very fun to type on. One day I'll try out Omron Ambers

We're on Optus here, not sure about our data cap but we've never gone over.
Paying for 20mbit, getting 14.
Could be worse I suppose, but it's honestly enough for me and my family

Be glad with what you have. And before you ask yes this is real

man that's fucked

What is this? Somalia?

Optus are absolute dogshit around here, they have very little coverage and 4G is practically non-existent. You'll get Telstra or another company piggybacking off Telstra's shit and you'll like it.

Do you just use lynx to browse everything or what

Nope America.
Also that's an old image We got an upgrade here!

This is bad.. wanted to order a NovaTouch but apperently the vendor can't manage to get another model.. :(

looks like you have to either wait for a sale on Type Heaven keyboards or to buy a clone

I never liked Telstra.

Whereabouts are you? I'm in the hills and Optus is great here.

Mid-east QLD

Which one looks better?

Don't know about the Blues because they are loud as fuck.

here is a sound test
youtube.com/watch?v=hrdmxymB6F8

To be honest they both look bad. I'd spend the extra money and get something like CM or Rosewill. But if you must choose then get the cheaper one because it looks the best.

What's a good carrying case that fits 60% keyboards like my Pok3r?

I don't get it, why would you want anything other than a model M?

Smaller is better.

Shit they are noisy as fuck... Right now I have a Cooler Master Devastator keyboard (It's kinda shit I guess) so any mechanical will literally be cheaper. I don't want to spend so much, unless I can get a really good black friday deal or something.

The cheaper one uses no name brown switches, my only problem with the keyboard it's self is that in a review it said they have no legs and sit a little bit high. I am used to using the keyboard flat on the table.

First of all the model F is superior and that is a fact.
Secondly maybe because you want to save space on your desk. Not everyone can fit a 122 Battleship on their desk

But heavier, noisier, and more keysier is better.

You are right My mechanical friend, the Model F is something I should be typing on.

The problem with cherry based switches is that they are loud no matter which one you get.
Maybe check out matias quiet switches

Sound comparison:
youtu.be/I-5kiJoE8Wo?t

That's a bad thing.

Any beige keyboards with red switches?
I want to match the aesthetics of my desktop as much as possible

They truly are a thing of beauty. Shame Unicomp doesn't have the tooling for them.

Shieet. So from the two keyboards I should go with the one with brown switches? I don't even know mate.

If you really want to match the aesthetic then get a model M

Or a Model F
See

>tfw there is no decent wireless clickety clack Keyboard available in the EU

There are things called SSK Model M

if just Unicomp would get their ass on doing anything

There are new model F's being made at least. They're expensive though.

modelfkeyboards.com/

Model Fs are really hard to come by and are very expensive, except for the old 83 key ones you can get them for 80 bucks. You also need an adapter to be able to use them with a modern PC

Model Ms on the other hand are made brand new on unicomps website for $84 and come with USB so they should have no issue using them with your PC

Lol.

Anything cheaper? Or with red switches at least?

What about Filco?
They have UK, German, Swedish/Finnish, French, Nordic, and Italian

keyboardco.com/category.asp?sr=&path=mechanical keyboards&lan=United Kingdom&lan=German&lan=Swedish/Finnish&lan=French&lan=Nordic&lan=Italian&ss=de&rtv=100

Or why not buy from china?

Here is also a video review
youtube.com/watch?v=mJ1fsALtGXo

Don't by Model Fs unless you want to go through the hassle of converting them.

Buy brand new Model Ms here
pckeyboard.com/page/category/UltraClassic

Not the 83 key one, the 122 key.
It's not cheap, but you will achieve great aesthetics.
ebay.com/itm/IBM-Model-M-5-Pin-DIN-122-Key-Keyboard-Vintage-P-N-1390572-/201605098256?hash=item2ef099ab10:g:RboAAOSwNSxVOVXo

If you have the desk space buy one of these

pckeyboard.com/page/category/Classic

>unusual
>mfw I saw only big ass Enter keyboards 20 years ago

This is perfect. Hows shipping to aus?

Probably 30-40 bucks. Ask them their customer service is pretty good, at least here in the US

>spacesaver
>it's just a full-size keyboard
How big were standard old keyboards if that's space saving?

...

Its different from PC to PC. Some only had 50 keys while others like this were called battleship keyboard

Beautiful.

Cheers mate.

I'm currently having an RSI crisis and trying to get my shit together. I have a cherry brown keyboard atm, should I consider something different or it would just change my keyboard noise practically?

Also, I always believed that ergonomic layouts were just a meme. Should I reconsider?

Thanks for any help :3

Lookie here, a literal battleship keyboard.
ebay.com/itm/Rare-Large-Vintage-Original-Royal-Navy-Frigate-Ops-Room-Keyboard-ESM-Console-/391089043656?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5b0eb938c8&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true
Maybe not battleship, but it's a frigate keyboard.

>Also, I always believed that ergonomic layouts were just a meme

user let your memes be dreams

>Optics
>Detachable
These should be the least in the make-it-better list

Unicomp's definition of "space saver" is that they take a lot of bezel off the top/back of the keyboard (above the F-row).
Normally with regards to model Ms, space saver refers to TKL, but those are much rarer than run of the mill model Ms, and Unicomp doesn't make them.
