How do I fit into IRC channels? I don't wanna be sniffed out as a sperg
rofl
desu be yourself why the fuck would you go online and try to fit in in some place you dont even have to be
irc isnt middle school
accept who you are and act accordingly
w-what?
lurk more
nah pal ive just thought the same thought but i dont see the point of being there in the first place if i have to act like someone else
call them retards and demonstrate your superiority
why
LURK MOAR!
Really it's that simple for any online community.
/thread
no i mean whats with those random letters, of it an acronym for something???
nah pal
just enter a random irc and act like you own the place.
sometimes I get banned when I say hi - Can you give me some other tips when I join?
This is probably the truth
Most enjoyable to talk in channels you have to prove you're not a little bitch from the get go
Problem is you have to not be a literal retard while doing this and most people fail this part.
Also a lot of long standing channels you have to make effort to stick around long enough to fit in or just generally be someone who fits in among the people in that channel.
IRC is weird as shit and it's getting weirder as it slowly dies
>tfw it's my last forever comfy piece of the internet
>been using it since the late 90s and I can feel it slowly dying around me
>most servers have a bunch of channels filled with the same 150 people over and over
Just say "back", they won't want to seem rude and admit that they 'forgot' who you are so they'll say "Welcome back"
thats pretty sneaky, and a good way to stay.
thanks
Say this a lot, OP:
what random letters pal
a good sign that the channel sucks
maybe its just a good sign that I suck
Never say "hi"
Just join in with a conversation and act like you belong. Saying hi is weird, man.
I guess this is the thread to ask
What good furry servers/channels are there
Just as a disclaimer, I've never done that.
Sometimes I've welcomed people back as soon as they join and they are surprised, asking if they were here before.
Let us know how it goes if it works
How do irc goers view eternal lurkers? IRC was one of my first ever experiences with the internet, and I'd like to get back into it before it completely dies off, but I'm not much of a talker.
Sounds stupid now that I read that back, but whatever.
"How do you do fellow pizza conniseurs, where pray tell is the kick group I promise I am not a cop".
i'm too socially awkward even for irc
Where do I find channels that dead 95% of the day? The only ones I have been on are for programming help. Someone asks a question, and maybe someone answers and sparks a conversation. Other than that, everyone is AFK.
IRC is survival of the fittest
all egos bring that aspect
that's what everyone means by "irc is dying"
there aren't any anymore
