terrible unreliable pos, dont even bother

never buy seagate if you like your data

wd red

Get Hitachi or HGST.

Its a HDD with a slow 8GB cache that costs more than a regular HDD.

Hitachi and HGST for internal and Samsung for external

well if you like your data you use some form of redundancy in your storage and keep offline backups. So it doesn't really matter which brand of drive is more reliable.

those are the same brand you morron

this.
Samsung makes the best memory chips in the world and HGST makes the best HDD-s in the world. also : HGST- Hitachi Global Storage Technologies

Uh no

>I like restoring from week old backups every other month

no you retard

Hardly anybody knows for sure, and certainly not Sup Forums.

>2TB
10TB or bust

>10TB or bust
I got to 8TB with my Seagate Shingle Archive drive.
Got a lot of my movies on it in a NAS.

OY VEY GOYIM DON'T BUY THAT SEAMANGATE ITS SHIT, ITS NOT GAYMEN APPROVED BUY WD INSTEAD, ITS SO MUCH BETTER AND MORE EXPENSIVE, THEY ARE LIKE THE NVIDIA OR APPLE OF HARDDRIVES TRULY THE Sup Forums APPROVED BRAND

...

...

>dust has settled
the dust hasn't settled, it will take a solid year or two before we truly know how reliable they are.

>le dust has le settled
(You)

>b-but muh 4tb
no one bought those things, they are slow as fuck and garbage

>1.5 tb
>not a single one failed
ok im calling bullshit on that one get a better chart

Wasn't WD hard drives getting bigger failure ratios than Seagate lately?

yes, seagate fixed their shit with the 6tb, 8tb, and 10tb drives

I guess you're fucked if you just want 1-2TB

no i guess your a poorfag then

Best option for a run-of-the-mill 4tb internal drive?

>poorfag
>not wanting 6TB+ data loss

>trusting 10tb of data to a Seagate drive

I didn't know hitachi was a recommended brand, they are really cheap in my country. I will get a 2tb one then.

Those are both shit, honorable mention to toshiba.

I have a bag in my trunk full of dead drives from my previous job when id replace them out of all of the older machines.

So the best options are WD and Seagate?

>backblaze

Fuck off retard.

>30 times more Seagates than WDs
yeah no wonder you fucking shill

WD is alright for hdd, seagate is terrible, anything else just get a SSD

Blaze it homie

They are still meme. They improved the caching selection from the older SSHDs, but it's still slower than 5/6TB WD Reds and 6TB Hitachi Deskstars.
The only thing it beats them at is random small file reads and writes, but I have flash drives faster than the bloody thing.

>SMR
>NAS
WEW LAD
youtube.com/watch?v=CR_bfbOTY1o
I hope all you're doing is sequential reads and writes.

no, its shit

What do you think HGST stands for?

Hitler Goes Sucking Teens ?

>buying seagate

Great googly moogly.

>2TB FireCuda
>FireCuda COMPUTE
this has to be a joke, right?

>segate

it supports both opencl and cuda workloads

Use it if it fits what you are doing. I wouldn't use it as a main drive or for frequently accessed files.

You can also just call them Western Digital. No point in getting overly specific, when they're designed by the same people and made in the same sweatshops.

That to me reads like it's supposed to be a GPU, but it's clearly a hard drive visually

What the fuck is it supposed to be?

It's intended for gaymers and retards

You are being memed, it's just a SSHD. The 'cuda' comes from their Barracuda HDD line, not the CUDA platform. The 'Compute' is just the tag they give to all their desktop (3.5") drives.

They're just making it sound as radicoolâ„¢ as possible to get the tech illiterate MSI/Razer gaymen audience.

>2tb
>8gb of fucking flash

Fucking hell if they gave it 32gb at least you could argue it's benefits but 8gb is fucking nothing.

>give it 64gb flash
>store the most used and as many sub 1mb files on there are possible
>use a chunk of it for caching writes

This would be so much better wouldn't it?

This. You can buy an HGST Deskstar 2TB and a 128GB cheap SSD and cache it to the drive for the same prices as the Firecuda.

None of you tried out the new Seagate

You're thinking of the old line

So can I use the FireCuda with my FirePro and FireWire?

I used the Intel caching thing on my motherboard for quite a while. Had a 3tb drive data drive paired with a 64gb SSD, shit was cache.

It handled large writes really well and there was a definite improvement, especially when dealing with small files.

>8gb is fucking nothing.
this desu senpai

I have seagate drives they just werk

I want to go full SSD soon i'm bored of the HDD meme.

>The 'Compute' is just the tag they give to all their desktop (3.5") drives.
What kind of mental gymnastics could possibly justify this retardation?
