Why the fuck do you not want serifs on an I? It can save you in some scenarios. Take, for example:
google.com
googIe.com
Unless you're an autist and notice the tiny amount of spacing around the capital I not present with the lowercase L, you'll blindly click on it assuming it's safe.

Noto Sans

Why? Genuinely curious.

Consolas for monospace

Computer modern

Too thin.

and thus my default line \usepackage{garamondx}

Neue Haas Grotesk
Sabon
Myriad &Minion Pro
Bodoni & AvantGarde for special stuff.

I refuse to use Minion due to the bullshit 'Th' ligature.

Sans-serif and overall: Fira Sans
Monospace: Source Code Pro

I don't have as clear of a favorite for serif, but Source Serif Pro.

All free and open source, too.

Reports, etc: Linux Libertine.
UI, etc: Noto Sans.
Subs: Open Sans.
Monospace: DejaVu Sans Mono.

Where can you pirate a copy of New Rodin? From what I see searching, you can't even buy it. IT's owned by a Japanese Typeface company with just documentation on it, no sale.

I always have issues finding sources for font torrents, I always get results that are either sites to buy or torrents for entirely unrelated fonts.

I've become a pretty consistent user of DIN for statistical graphics and sans serif text, Roboto Slab for titling. I really like the pairing in my research writing, so much so I've changed my matplotlibrc and my system fonts so that they match.

I dumped it from my PS3.

lmao, that shit kerning on menlo

ITT: incorrect answers.
Ubuntu is the best for everything. Ubuntu Mono is so perfect it makes me cry manly tears.

i like source code pro and source serif pro, but latex is all fucked up with source serif pro when i try to use italics and stuff.

computer modern is kinda nice for strongly signaling to people that i used latex, but i really like signaling that in the nice typesetting, the microtype, kerning, etc... more than slapping them in the face with it.

It sets off my imaginary OCD
