We do not talk about the music as it is but how it's created and what we use and how to help
others get better

1 simple rule I hope you can guys do, please don't be assholes to those who
have a different perspective on another DAW, no matter what it is or how shitty
it is. I know there are some very laughable ones out there but ya know...
So please just be as helpful as you can.

Links and info:
For the sake of work, you are allowed to use a name. Just don't
make yourself look like a dumb ass and make me regret saying
that.

If you need help, you can use Clyp.it if you wish to stay user.

If this thread is ded you are welcomed to Nexus, A discord
server specifically made around Sup Forums. If link is bork,

selfish bump

learn to be concise holy fuck
>Ableton+Renoise, or as I like to call it, Ableton/Renoise
>4 years ago I used it for a year
>same time 4 years ago, I got into production because I worked 80 hours a week and was bored
>Just experimenting with different electronic genres, I love breakcore and percussive music though
>No
>Sylenth
>Yes is fun
>real mozzarella not that waxy shit

ffmpeg is best
Bit of samples and ffmpeg is all you need

I wish to try that cheese then, how much is a pound ya think?

I've heard, but then again I've heard this about like everything else too

...

behave user. Show you're better than the rest of the people who sort of hate them. They are just hipsters listening to records. They aren't obnoxious like Sup Forums or Sup Forums (as bad)

ok you got me there

so enjoy the thread user. Also that meme would of been funnier if he were holding the gun upside down

NOT YET!

> Reaper and FL studio. Reaper for recording and mixing, FL for midi related things like programming drums
>Reaper 2 years and FL studio 5-4 years
>Been in to music for the majority of my life
>Probably rock since I play guitar and sing in a rock band (people call us indie rock but I don't really care about the sub-genre). Also some metal and occasional hip-hop and edm.
>Best at rock since I never really finish anything that is any other genre. I just play around with those. I'm really into learning to record and mix live instruments.
>Not really, but learning to make better hip-hop/rap beats would be fun
>I use the basic FL studio synths + Massive. I don't have a favorite among those. I just use whatever gets the job done.

>>What DAW is yours?
Reaper
>>How long you been on it?
About 6 months now. Adobe Audition before that.
>>How long have you been into music?
Playing bass since 19, guitar since 21. Come from a musical family, started recording around 24
>>What genre do you play with the most?
Worship and singer songwriter
>>What Genre do you think you are best at?
Worship but been wanting to do a kind of Americana album for a while
>>Have you thought about changing up to something else?
Not really
>>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?
Dont really use synths but I do like that pro q filter from fabfilter
>>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?
Sure, maybe ill switch to different genres down the road
>Bonus points:
>>What's the best cheese?
Swiss ofc

>Renoise
>like, since 2009
>dunno, a while
>probably jungle but not really
>none of them
>nah, Renoise is comfy as fuck
>the MonoPoly VSTi from the Korg Legacy collection -- although I've taken to not using VSTs at all and making instruments entirely via sample layering and DSP chains these days
>I've no reason to stop
>mozzarella

but yeah, Renoise is brill
kind of need spend more time actually writing music instead of dicking around with DSP effects though
should also probably go download Renoise 3.1 but I'm lazy and I'm still on 3.0

they keep changing the UI and although they're a bit better about UI changes than most, I still hate the period of time when I'm just staring at it like "where the fuck is everything"

OH SHIT! We got some place last night! Don't die on me yet!

>Renoise main, Ableton secondary
>2013-present
>Since I was 7yo (started on piano)
>Solo: Noise-pop. In bands: Post-Rock
>Rhythmically-intensive genres
>Maybe if I started a new project that required a major change
>While not the one I use most often by any stretch, I adore Jasuto Modular Synth (pic related)
>Music is my passion but not my career. I'll probably always be involved in the local scene no matter where life takes me.

Oh, and feta cheese >>>

>What DAW is yours?
Sony ACID Pro 7.0 & Music Studio 10
Ableton Live Lite

>How long you been on it?
Been on Acid for 7 or 8 years.
Ableton just picked up 4 or 5 months ago.

>How long have you been into music?
5ever

>What genre do you play with the most?
hips-haps

>What Genre do you think you are best at?
haps-hips

>Have you thought about changing up to something else?
I've forked around with Fruit Loops cereal, but never too extensively.
The UI, while workable, was just never too intuitive to me. I'm still open to get into it because it's pretty open ended, and everyone i know uses it (That way, we could trade stems)

>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?
blarg, every preset is beautiful and it's fun to fuck with.

>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?
yep

Bonus points:

>What's the best cheese?
Somewhat lactose intolerant, so I don't explore with world too much. I like the soy cheese they make taste like mozzarella.

another bump as my guy in X goes in circles around the tower to hatch an Abra

...

>pad.wav
This isn't really more than you remixing parts of a song to make your own. You didn't make it, its like mixing on a turn table. If you made them and just syncing them up them sure

Respect the sample bro, while its clear that he's just looping someone else's sounds, you can make an entire, unique, creative song from other people's samples. Some of my favorite music stems from samples that have been passed around and remixed and sampled for decades
Some would even argue that a specific sample set off an entire genre (like the amen break sample)

>What DAW is yours?
FL Studio (12)

>How long you been on it?
3 years

>How long have you been into music?
Since I was born, actually. I started listenimg a lot more (6+ hours a day) when I was 10.
>What genre do you play with the most?
Electronic music

>What Genre do you think you are best at?
Electronic music, calm melodies with an eerie and atmospheric feeling

>Have you thought about changing up to something else?
Yes, but it was still electronic. Sometimes I cook up an 8bit cheezy game melody, or a more energetic song, with dubstep (gosh I hate that word) influences.

>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?
synth? You mean synthesizer? I can't keep up with all these terms kids come up in these days can I? Well, I guess Serum then.

>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get nowhere?
As a tiny background hobby, yes. As an occupation, welp, I enjoy playing and tinkering with computers, so I don't really want to busy me up only with music producing in the future. I enjoy coding!

Bonus points:
>What's the best cheese?
Curd. Is curd even cheese? I'm not entirely sure, but damn I love some good ol' curd.

What audio interfaces do you guys use? Scarlett 2i4 1st gen here, midi comes in handy

my phone/tablet as a midi keyboard thanks to FL remote, but it's not big enough, i need something I can put my hands on, something my hands can fit to ya know?

What DAWs can I torrent the full version of in wine? I tried Ableton live but the .auz file wudn't open

Some how, FL works great in Wine and I don't know why.
