That happened because they announced that they got design wins for the two major consoles, which means 50+ million shipped ASICs for each.

That can still happen again, considering that they have been powering quite a lot of consoles.

Nah, it was confirmed to have the single threaded performance of one of the xeons a while back. The only question is whether it can clock to 4GHz to perform equal to current Intel offerings. The tested Zen chip was at a low clock, but it was also an engineering sample, not final silicon.

In my case post currency devaluing the RX 470 was a good buy once oc'd to 480 levels as to get the same MSI model for a 1060 would be far more expensive.

I do understand with a 1060 the cooling wouldn't need to be that good but the silence is what I want.

GTX 1060 is outselling AYYMD HOUSEFIRES easily with superior performance and power efficiency and no PCIe slot killing

The GTX 1060 and now the 1050/Ti are outselling the RX 480, 470, and 460 by a considerable margin. The 6GB 1060 is outselling the 480 almost 2-1, the 1060 3GB and 470 by an even larger 2.5-1, and the 1050/Ti and 460 by 1.5-1 (and they only just started selling the 1050 series)
