Great, it will be just like living in a heinlein novel without space travel.

>How good is Peter Thiel at tech
Thiel understands technology, though he is a businessman/lawyer and not a programmer. He's been known to hang out with and give money to futurist types (he invested in OpenAI and fucking Urbit) as well as to lament the fact that innovation today has been reduced to making "Snapchat for cats" apps. Both good points IMO.
>how good of an adviser will he be?
Top notch. He has been an early investor in, and advisor to, a bunch of successful startups, including Facebook.

>it will be just like living in a heinlein novel
It would be interesting if Trump gave him a charter city to play with, that's for sure.

>OpenAI
Are they actually doing anything interesting or do they just have a hardon for dead end feed forward networks?

Holy shit

Every house is getting cleaned now

Silicon valley totally invested in Hillary and now will pay for it

I haven't been following OpenAI but I think MIRI is more interesting. They are trying to deliver on the promise of "good old-fashioned" symbolic AI because symbolic AI is far more realistic to prove benign.

>Peter Thiel
PayPal mafia

>Silicon valley totally invested in Hillary
They supported Sanders.

Either way really

So long as they did all they could to throw Trump under the bus

if you expect trump (or anyone, honestly) to take especially retaliatory measures against silicon valley for supporting the other guy, you're retarded. stop watching so many cartoons.

Oh my, this is sublime. We really are in a new era. Trump will be the best president you guys have seen since a long time. Screenshot this.

Not what I meant

They're just out of the loop now. He can have whatever like thiel influence him while the mainstays just watch

Get your tinfoil ready.

>The Education of a Libertarian
>By Peter Thiel
>April 13, 2009

>I remain committed to the faith of my teenage years: to authentic human freedom as a precondition for the highest good. I stand against confiscatory taxes, totalitarian collectives, and the ideology of the inevitability of the death of every individual. For all these reasons, I still call myself “libertarian.”

>But I must confess that over the last two decades, I have changed radically on the question of how to achieve these goals. Most importantly, I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.

out of the loop in what sense? you keep making these short posts that beg for more detail. do you mean out of the loop in the sense that they misunderstand america? or in the sense that they're no longer on the inside track?

companies like uber, facebook, etc... have never wanted government involvement (especially uber), and a conservative president, house, and senate guarantees that.

or are you saying that they're out of the loop in the sense of now realizing that they don't understand america that well?

First option.

Those companies may not want interference but for the biggies like Google/Microsoft political influence must be huge.

the threat of the government regulating data mining, contract labor, robotics (from autonomous vehicles to drones), etc... is much bigger than the threat of losing some kickbacks.

>Most importantly, I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.
Yep, it's over.

>I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.
he's not wrong. just look at the democratic party or any democrat controlled city. voting for them (democracy) is voting to have your rights removed.

most people will always choose to restrict/trade away freedom for security, and that will always be the end result of democracy.

>>Most importantly, I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.
>Yep, it's over.

fug!

Peter Thiel's Palantir is intimately connected to NSA mass surveillance; it's basically big data analytics

He is gay so it is likely all "apple apple apple apple"

B-but mass surveillance is "here to stay" and only to become stronger, even Assange admitted to it. Who's to say if not him.

youtube.com/watch?v=NXOi44TmKXM

You mean Thiel will build skynet and filter bubble the crap out of otherwise free information.

really makes you think...

can he save net neutrality though?

pic unrelated

That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Trump needs to weed out terrorism, and Palantir and NSA can help big time. This is probably why he needs Thiel on his side.

well Carly has an ugly face, so she is a pass..

He said Google > Apple.

>Co founded PayPal

We're so fucked

>Self proclaimed Libertarian
>saving net neutrality
KAY EEH KAY

Its not terrorism you reactionary twat, its corruption. Financial, to be specific.

It's in his benefit (see all of his ventures) to do so. The only way NN gets fucked now is if republicans fuck with it - not Thiel advising Trump, that just won't do shit since republicans are so fucking retarded with tech.

>The only way NN gets fucked now is if republicans fuck with it
You know they will.

By principle they are against any regulation unless its about a womans body, gays or other dumb shit no one but jesus freaks care about

It's ok M8, think of it as living in a cartoon world. God Trump practically made anime real. We are living in an anime world.

but user, i don't like animes

I thought she'd look better when she was young.

Of course they will. Trumps entire presidency will be Republicans fucking with everything and then going "Trump's fault" and everyone will buy it because Trump is the big evil man.
I'm sure Trump will fuck with a lot too, but he's business minded. Not hard to persuade a business mind through proof of big bucks coming in.

We need a matching Thiel.

No they didn't. The startup workers did. Not the tax dodging corporations that use off shore havens like Google, Facebook, Microsoft.

Wait so Trump is anti-net-neutrality, pro-NSA, and Anti-snowden?

How exactly is this guy popular on the internet?

>using reactionary as an insult
>2017-0.139

Welp, you going to have to learn to.

>How exactly is this guy popular on the internet?
you mean on Sup Forums and only thanks to the rednecks that get herded by the same jews they yell about

i would be ok with the moon bases though

He's a mixed bag. He's also anti tpp which would also be especially detrimental to the internet. But, not directly noting the internet as to why he's against tpp.

>Trump needs to weed out terrorism
What fucking alternate universe are you living in?

>muh terists in merka

MAGA user, MAGA. Nothing else is relevant.

>How exactly is this guy popular on the internet?
In a word: SJWs. Large chunk of "the Internet" (think Sup Forums, not Sup Forums) got sick of them.

contrarianism

Even in Sup Forums I see many posts supporting him.

Do they not care about personal privacy and government transparency?

the white terrorism that backed him? why would he go against them?

Those are Sup Forums cross posters like with all the SJWs in tech threads they make, and it's not like Sup Forums isn't filled with consumerist retards anyways that would believe his con act.

This election was the most anti privacy and transparency election in history quite frankly. Either candidate, you lose rights.

>He's also anti tpp
He never stated that he was against TPP in principle, just that it's not Jewish enough for the US.
Crossboarders have taken over Sup Forums a few years ago.

>Not the tax dodging corporations that use off shore havens like Google, Facebook, Microsoft.
While I agree that companies need to pay their fair share of the social contract, they are not dodging taxes they are just taking advantage of the many tax laws that are on the books.

Even if we simplified the tax code down to some arbitrary amount of pages, with the corrosive power of money all these loop holes would eventually come back anyways.

Trump will say a lot of dumb ass shit, and then people behind the scenes will transmute it into a somewhat passable bill.
In the end Trump isn't a dictator (neither is Obama ) shit just doesn't work that way.

The damage trump will do will mostly be limited to ruffling feathers of foreign leaders that will incur some minor backlashes.
The amount of done to the country will entirely depend on the GOP establishment

The other candidate was Hilary fucking Clinton

not my Sup Forums

Im not a pearl clutching, fear monger, and im just assuming there are a few more out there just like me. Wait and see, everything else is just mental masturbation.

ballotpedia.org/2016_presidential_candidates_on_the_Trans-Pacific_Partnership_trade_deal
He opposed it on principle, and attacked the dems for being for it. Let's not pretend otherwise.

Techloli/g/y is dead. It's all gayming machine, leddit, Sup Forumstards, and consumershit everywhere.

He's a fucking lawyer, not a computer scientist or an engineer.

>Thiel

We are fucked

There you go:
fortune.com/2016/04/20/google-apple-bernie-sanders/

it is sad to think that both candidates had less than 50% of the vote.

No matter who went into office, the majority of voters are not going to be accurately represented.

And you're a neet, not a politician. That's how this works right? Don't talk about that of which you aren't an authority on?

If only that were true, Sup Forums would barely get any posts whatsoever.

>American populace can not make a distinction between a cold technocrat and a clown reality TV star with cluster B personality disorders.
It's ok user, you can tell me how much worse Shillary would have been 4 years from now,

That explains why I don't see any pro-Clinton posts.

Yet I still see pro-Trump posts in most political Sup Forums threads. Someone who supports and will extend the PATRIOT act. Someone who said "I support legislation which allows the NSA to hold the bulk metadata."

She'll die in prison before then.

>Someone who supports and will extend the PATRIOT act. Someone who said "I support legislation which allows the NSA to hold the bulk metadata."
What does Obama have to do with any of this?

>a literal faggot

She very well might.

nah, backpeddling has already begun

cnn.com/2016/11/10/politics/giuliani-christie-interviews-clinton-prosecutor/

No one likes that monkey here. My question is about Trump, why is he loved on the internet even though he openly and proudly supports spying on us.

Trump is one of the most vindictive human beings who has ever lived. Cross him and he'll ruin you, it doesn't matter if you're his closest relative.

Prepare to be shipped back to Delhi, Pajeet.

>spying on us

Criminal/pedophile/terrorist detected.

Sounds like the time Donny said he's gonna pay the wall with the foreign aids money that is being given to Mexico instead of Mexico actually paying for it.

>He opposed it on principle
I don't see that anywhere. He says that it's bad for American workers, doesn't address the issues preventing American products from being sold in foreign markets (American cars in Japan is a good example of this), is too long and complex, and ends up benefiting currency cheaters like China. He prefers bilateral agreements that are easier to understand and are fair to American companies and workers. These are all examples of how the deal is bad for the US, not how trade and copyright laws are inherently bad.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_B_personality_disorders

He isn't loved. He's a giant unknown. I think that's the only reason why he got elected was because everyone paying attention already knew Hillary was a crook and Obama was totally full of horseshit. I would rather take my chances on an unknown than more horseshit. The fact that he isn't a politician is a net positive.

>he doesn't know "psychology" is just a racket for the jews

memes and just doing shit to fuck with the system.

No one that wants to continue their time in office will roll that shit back.

Just imagine if you don't extend the patriot act and then another attack happens, you will be blamed for it of course by the other party.

Any kind of cut/reduction/whatever will be painted in a negative light by the other party come election time
>SS benefits decreasing for the already wealthy
>"Obama cut your social security! Will he take your home next ?"

>psychology
Nope.

People voted for Obama because they thought he would repeal the patriot act, get us out of wars, and give everyone free healthcare.

Also because he was a basketball American.

Mostly the basketball thing, in fact.

There was a lot of support for Trump in the Valley.

Not with rallies but with money, Thiel is one of the few entrepreneurs to publicly support him, but there are a lot more.

Zuckerberg included. I got drunk with a guy that works in Zuckerberg's family office and he confessed me that they gave substantial sums to the Trump campaign.

Apparently a lot of these tech companies made off the table deals with the Trump administration and key Republican figures.

...

I'll enforce muh non-aggression principle by oppressing all political opposition

Libertarians ladies and gentlemen.

OG Barack had just told him how those israeli jews that helped him in the campaign are gonna suck the blood out of him

Peter Thiel is a fucking psycho

>Zuckerberg included. I got drunk with a guy that works in Zuckerberg's family office and he confessed me that they gave substantial sums to the Trump campaign.
This is intriguingly /x/-tier.

Why?

I feel fucking betrayed already. Trump was going to remove all of the fucking degenerates, not give them jobs. The day of the rope needs to happen soon. DEUS VULT

Well there was that post written by Zuck himself saying that FB, not sure which part of FB he's referring to, needs to be more 'diverse'. Not that kind of diversity, he's saying that everyone shouldn't be on the Hillary circlejerk.

The internet got their panties in a twist over tumblr posters, really?

And that's why I like Advanced Warfare more than any other shooter that year.

Well, Obamacare happened. The economy also improved.

Thiel's vision of liberty seems similar to that of most software projects, especially open source: you don't get to vote but you can make a proposal to the maintainers and you get free movement. If you don't like it, you are free to leave and use something else. He supports seasteadying to make this more plausible in the real world.

>If you don't like it, you are free to leave
Yeah, if you don't like it just make a better internet, user.

No they didn't. They were firmly behind Hillary for obvious reasons.

I'd guess Thiel thinks you can. He's literally paying people to do that.
