I bought a Seasonic SS-460FL today, did I do good?
Sea sonic components are generally some of the best on the market
How is a max out put of 430W better than a max output of 1300 watts?
Are you fucking retarded?
She's probably talking about things like voltage control, efficiency, ripple suppression etc.
those thermaltake psus from bestbuy are trash
It's probably better at 430W, which makes sense because that's what it's made for.
Can anyone recommend me a PSU with at least 2 8-pin cpu cables and that is at least 550 watts (preferably 600) and is not more than ~$70? Me and my dad were building an older xeon workstation with a very odd E-ATX board and the powersupply I bought for it had more than enough wattage but not enough CPU power connectors.
>She's probably talking about things like voltage control, efficiency, ripple suppression etc.
What makes you think op is vomit?
Also do you have a source to backup what you've said and proof that it really makes a difference?
I found some good threads:

Efficiency makes a difference, less heat and power consumption is always a good thing
What's a good quiet PSU at or around 550W? I don't care about efficiency (unless it has a significant impact - I'm not running close to max theoretically), i just want to have a pleasant quiet experience.
Upgrading from a $36 LEPA 500W which sounds like the cliffs of dover on boot. GTX 950 SC, AMD 6300. It's the loudest part of my rig at idle.
Yes my senpai son
My Seasonic S12II is pretty fucking quiet and they're only around $60 right now.
evga 600b i have that 1
Seasonic >>>>>>>>>>>>everything else
My nigga
it has at least two cpu 8 pin cables?
sure does.
Garbage PSU
Get some xfx or seasonic
its not garbage it works fine. dunno about xfx but ya seasonic is good 2
Try the EVGA 650 GQ, it has two 8-pin CPU connectors and is currently on sale on Newegg for $70.
fuck wait no it doesnt. i thought u meant two pcie 8 pin cables.sorry about that.
>this Chink made power supply is better than this Chink made power supply
>build new computer
>tight budget
>only 30€ left for psu
>get a xilence psu which looks nice (i have color matched hardware mostly)
>arrives, looks good
>I/O switch does not work
>mainboard LEDs are on 24/7 even with the computer turned off unless I remove the power cable
>everytime i start it up my bios tells me "power supply surge detected"
>horrible coil whine whenever i move my cursor
>shitty colorful cables instead of just black
>only one 6/8 pin (i used a gtx460, it needs 2)
good PSUs are not a meme
>Seasonic 400W
>Upgrading over years I finally figure out I could draw well over 600W through it after upgrading to a cheap 500W and not having enough.
>Go right back to the seasonic.
>It's still cool to the touch.

If your PSU doesn't get at least 9.5 on here then it's shit.
>tfw 9.7
Gonna shill for the be quiet powerzone. I have the Z1 1000W and it's the best thing ever. It's completely inaudible and I have enough leftover power to upgrade to hell and back
jonnyguru.com
Also 9.7 here. Made a good choice
Is higher end Crosair rebranded Seasonic for the most part?
AX1200i master race here.
>because theyre both made in chinkland they all use the same quality components
>one of the determiners is aesthetics
>Arguing Chink quality
pcpartpicker.com
Titanium Certification isn't justifiable at all but I really want this PSU.
Yes, but ONLY the high end.
The low end shit like CX is all other brands, I've had to replace so many of my friends and families CX power supplies.
The EVGA Supernova series is also all SeaSonic.
For other brands, do research on reputable sites for information on who made the internals.
Makes sense. Thanks for the input.
You do realise those are all made by the same OEM rite?
The chinks make everything from the highest quality seasonic and superflower PSUs to those $30 1000 watt house fire units that will explode if you try to load them with 1/2 that.
You get what you pay for.
EVGA is Superflower
You can actually get Thermaltake PSUs that are made in Germany.
I have one.
Don't know if you have to be German to get one, though. Maybe they sell the chink ones outside of the country.
Bought an EVGA 550 SuperNova Gold PSU a few months ago for a small homeserver I was building.
After about two months of uninterrupted service the machine just started crashing. No comprehensible error logs or anything, I just shut down. Tracked down the issue to the powersupply, the store replaced it and now it's fine.
First time I ever experienced such an issue with a PSU, and it took a lot of testing since I assumed the crashes were from heat or defective MB. PSUs, man.
EVGA G/P is superflow, gs is Seasonic.
that begin said G3 just came out, jonnyguru.com
9.6
650 G2
There's only like half a dozen power supply OEMs.
Ignore the 1337 gaymer branding bullshit and look for technical reviews by people who know what they're doing.
There's a local shop that sells SeaSonic PSUs, should I get the M12II-520 EVO or the G-550? They're the ones thats being recommended to me.
>tfw build quality 9.5, overall 8.1
jonnyguru.com
Should I suicide now?
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2
9.8
Get rekt.
>Corsair HX850 Gold
>Performance: 10
>Functionality: 9.5
>Build Quality: 9.5
>Value: 8
Yeah gonna ignore the "value" grading.
Depending on where you live the Seasonic rebrands are cheaper. I've gone with Corsair every time because of that. Now there's even cheaper (store rebrand by LDLC).
All XFX PSUs are Seasonic OEM.
Would a EVGA 500W would be good enough for a simple build?
Or should i get a 500B?
Superflower Leadex 850w gold
same as EVGA G2, score 9.9, not that bad I guess...
Why is there all this re branding going on? Is it a legal marketing thing or are different components actually being used under the same parent brand and then applied under the sub brand?
time to leave
Got an ax860i. A year in and no problems so far. It replaced a shitty platinum seasonic that kept triggering ocp when I overclock.
>had that Thermaltake older model psu
>ran for 7yrs
>bought another of the newer model same wattage
>feelsgoodman
>/PSG/ Power Supply General
Are you fucking serious?
Xilence is trash. I have one of their PSUs, it gets so freaking hot I am guessing the efficiency number is somewhere in the low 70s or high 60s.
I stopped using it because I figured it was dangerous for my components. Even though the computer I used it in was some old trash I don't really even need. Bought a Seasonic G series PSU for it instead.
>9.6 because value is 8 while everything else is 10
Seasonic SS-660XP2, bad value the PSU.
>Thermaltake
>had Toughpower PSU 850 watts that supported i5 OC and dual 560TI oc
>ran like a charm
If only it had been modular, if only.
>Japanese parts
>China
You have to go back
i have been using some antec 520w psu for 5 years 24/7 and it still works.
a dubious 700watt chink PSU will do fine
i have one still working on my nas for 6 years straight from dual core lga 775
Excellent customer service too. They sent me flat molex connectors for free.
Ive got s seasonic platinum 660w power supply. The only annoying thing is that the fan ramps up to %100 for a second when you turn on the pc. Otherwise its really nice.
I have that exact same psu and its so nice. I think I got it for $20 off or something on newegg. Only gripe is that the fans ramp to %100 then back down to almost nothing every time you turn it on. I think if you put it in hybrid mode it doesn't do that. I was able to get my 3570k stable at 4.2ghz on stock voltage after i changed to this psu.
>mfw 9.8
