>missed out on the HD6xx
Someone please stop me.

I bought a Razer Kraken headset today. The guy at the store said it was the best they had under seventy euros, and it felt comfortable on my head.
I tried covering the tacky glowing logo with tape, but it's bright enough to shine right through. I'm not really sure what to do about that, except try to find some thicker tape. Other than that, the phones are not too bad.
My computer's USB audio output is way too loud, though. What software can I get to replace Windows volume control? Needs more granularity at low volumes.

>buying worse headphones than the 6XX

Anyone here used an E17(K) in combination with a T5p (Generation 1/2)?

Got myself a T5p this week, and planning on getting a mobile amp + dac.

Just w8 m8, massdrop reintroduces drops all the fucking time

Someone explain headphone sensitivity to a stupid fuck.

user from last thread about Presonus HD7, are they similar in sound signature to the Samson SR950? I remembered them from a previous recommendation that led me to buy the Samsons.

It can't be helped, I know both HD600 and HD650 owners, both adamant about their choice.

Yeah, but this shipment should be on Christmas? There are almost 25k requests for the drop again. With the shitshow that was this one, I don't think we're getting it this year.

wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Headphones#Impedance.2Fresistance_and_sensitivity

Nope. At least HD650 is the 2nd best headphone on the market.

wrong.

...

HD650 is very neutral. Outperforms HD800 and every FOTM meme kilobuck flagship headphone.
I don't really give a shit about build quality, I've got disposable income, if it breaks outside of warranty, I'll get repair or get another.

650 is much better than the 600.

im basically interested in something along the lines of a wireless hm-400 here, I love those but I would really prefer a wireless set for when i work out. im tired of using the cheap 10 dollar headphones I just keep in my gym bag

i mean hifiman re-400

What are the comfiest headphones? Don't care about sound quality, as long as it's decent by normie standards, and the most I want to spend is $100.

Is HD600 vs HD650 a memest fight of all?

No, it isn't. HD600 is slightly better.

This is objectively speaking, it's okay to have a preference for the HD650 you pleb.

>HD600 is slightly better.
no it's not, it's less accurate.
>This is objectively speaking, it's okay to have a preference for the HD650 you pleb.
you're actually retarded. stop posting, reddit trash.

Note: I'm probably buying a separate microphone (currently looking at the blue snowball ice) so a headset recommendation is something I don't want.

Logitech G430. Let me address my current issues with them and what I want on my new headphones.
1. They break so easily. This is my 3rd pair in 2(?) years I think. I'm tired of them. They're too quiet as well.

2. They slide off every time. Looking down means I have to readjust them every second and same thing with trying to lean back on my chair. I don't want a headset that makes me sweat near my ears when I wear them.

3. Sound quality feels like it could be better.

I was also looking at the sennheiser HD 598 but they're too expensive and I've read that they are really shit at playing anything other than classical music.

Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it. Hope that I gave enough info.

ATH-M50x are amazing.

>Senshills saying go back reddit

AKG faggots need to go back to narutoforums.

they really are

can someone tell me what genres of music fit each type of headphone sound signature?

I went from 'basshead' headphones, where I listened to electronic and hiphop, to V-Shaped, I now listen to mostly prog rock and metal.

Basshead
>Earphones for fans of heavy bass who value bass impact, depth, and power above all else. Because heavily enhanced mid-bass often results in bloated, boomy sound, we focused on finding earphones that provide deep, rumbling sub-bass and maintain decent clarity. In addition to the boosted bass, some of these sets emphasize treble for a v-shaped sound.

Warm and smooth
>These earphones are characterized by moderately enhanced bass and level or laid-back treble. Emphasis specifically on the mid-bass region often results in rich, full-bodied sound.

V-Shaped
>Enhanced bass and treble make for an exciting, v-shaped sound, providing a lively sonic experience reminiscent of the “Rock” equalizer setting. Due to the way the human loudness contour works, at lower volumes a mild v-shape can actually present a fairly balanced listening experience.

Balanced
>Emphasizing no particular area of the frequency spectrum, balanced headphones provide the most clear and accurate sound and can range from slightly warm to slightly bright in tone. Balanced sets can also be mildly mid-centric when the bass and treble both roll off at the limits.

One of the few good things still about Sup Forums is you can tell obvious shills like Sennshills to fuck off still.

Fuck off back to your safe place headfi/reddit forum.

face it AKG shill, your shitty weebphones have gone back to irrelevancy after the rampant shilling for them died down again.

Sennheiser HD202 or AKG 451? I mostly listen to jazz, hip-hop and funk. My sources are just a laptop my smartphone.

>LinusShillTips paraded my pet headphones!
>I'm validated by my purchase now!

Not really aware of shilling for AKG. See the mega shilling of the HD6xx right now.

>being this mad that the 6XX are going to completely destroy the K7XX sales
>Not really aware of shilling for AKG
yeah it's pretty obvious how new you are. back to plebbit you go.

AKG k240s look comfy, sound comfy, and feel comfy. Atleast the k240 mkiis do for me.

>mad about Senshills shilling
Not really I'm not buying their shit or on the shillroll of apologizing for the HD800/ignoring the HD700.

AKG makes some pretty nice headphones tbqh. I have both senshillers and they sound good, but they will never get the comfy of the AKG.

>being mad enough about anyone with better headphones than you to call them sennshills

My headphones fell down and I've halted the fall by grabbing one side inside the earcup. Is it possible to damage any parts of it due to doing this, or are the internals shielded from such damage due to the foam layers and the plastic cage before the membrane?

Got these from MD recently as i wanted closed headphones for work.

The k812? Another headphone that shit because it's not a hd800.

What are the best on-ears for less than like 50-60 dollars?

Is it really the PortaMemes?

NVX XPT 100

I've been looking at the Shure SE215, Sennheiser Momentum, Onkyo E700M, and the Trinity Delta Hybrid. Are these good or are there better options? I listen to a lot of HipHop and indie rock. I plan on using the new iems to commute to school and work via Bus, or when I'm hanging on campus.

Not having Sennheiser on the side being the big one.

k812 being garbage has nothing to do with sennheiser, AKG just don't know how to make a decent headphone, k612 pro must have been accidental.

Anyone?

There's nothing particularly bad about the fr graph. I haven't heard them so that's what I'm looking at.

awful distortion, treble is all over the place. spiky garbage. midbass is boomy. it's like a beyer t1 with more treble peaks and more distortion.

Looking at some response graphs, Hifiman has no idea how dynamic drivers work, huh...

Hard to believe HE-350's from MD would be any better.

Superlux hd668b are great for gaming at $60. They are really bass heavy though and you cant have one earcup off wothout discomfort.

They look OK for 60$. I feel that I should put more into headphones that will make me satisfied for a long time. Bass heavy headphones also turn me off because I don't listen to anything with that much bass.

That's wrong you fucking retard.

please stop posting your misinformation.

see:

>bright glary shit
>more accurate than 650
lol

The HD600 and HD650 are really close in sound signature, the HD600 is just more neutral.

If you describe the HD600 as bright and glary shit, the same applies to the HD650, and those descriptors are not the case for both headphones.

Please kill yourself.

>memest fight of them all

>the HD600 is just more neutral.
you couldn't be more wrong if you tried.
>If you describe the HD600 as bright and glary shit, the same applies to the HD650
wrong again, the 650 has a smoother upper midrange/treble region.

i don't understand why you bother posting when you have absolutely no idea on what you're trying tryign to argue here.

HD600 is more neutral according to diffuse field equalization, that is all.

Argument's over, you lost. Time to move on.

rtings' measurements aren't proven to be accurate.

I would use them for TV reviews, but headphones? No.

and you think your source is reputable or 'proven to be accurate'?

fuck off, rtings use proper equipment so they are already more credible.

Sennshills pls

I regret posting this.

Thinking of getting my first STAX, which model should I get? I don't mind spending somewhere between $700 to 800.

LNS

Should I buy my STAX tomorrow?

Which model is that? I can't find it in the STAX site.

Lambda Nova Signature, best Lambda series from STAX.

Looks like an obsolete model. Anything new to recommend?

discontinued, not obsolete. new lambas are shit.

Have you actually heard any Stax? Try to pick something cheap to start with, preferably from someplace with a lenient return policy or secondhand.

>new lambas are shit.
The lambdas don't really change like that.

L-500/L-700 are very different.

Why would anyone do that when an HD600/650 and decent amplifier can perform better and is more robust and flexible?

>HD600
stop

'Proper equipment' doesn't mean accurate.

Hello /hpg/! I'm looking for headphones suitable for music (.flac collection isn't getting its full use with my shitty headset) and games. If anyone has a mic recommendation I would like to hear it. Are the Antlion Modmics any good, or would I be better off with a desktop mic?

I'm mainly wondering if the more expensive headphones are legitimately worth it. My budget is a $100-200 ideally, but if the quality increase is substantial enough I would be willing to pay more. I'm just uninterested I'm frivolously purchasing the "best" when I can get something nearly as good for less.

I will only be using them with a desktop computer and will be shipping to the US. I'm definitely looking for circumaurals. Comfort is very important to me.

I'm not sure what's good for games (a larger soundstage?) and I want to prioritize audio quality for music, but it would be great if I had something that could perform well for both.

Is a neutral sound necessarily better? Or is it all entirely subjective? I like the idea of it. I hate flat bass and muffled sounding highs.

Thanks in advance, gonna check out the archives in the meantime.

Cheap Sony stuff like the ZX100 and their In-ears.

I'm looking for something that after 1 or 2 years still works properly
(the last ZX100s lasted me 2-3 years, no idea how).

I'm interested in the HM5s but they apparently squish heads and break easily and I don't trust XPT100 to last me for long either seeing how cheap they look. Already tried the 280s but they're a bit heavy on the bass for me and I'm looking mostly for something neutral and "boring". Any other alternative?
How's the M40x?

(The reason for the low budget is that I'm also buying an audio interface)

rin choi's measurements aren't accurate just because rtings measurements don't agree with your cherrrypicked shit.

Why do my sony 950bt sound like shit when I enter a skype call????

rtings' have no documentation on how they perform their measurements, Rin Choi does.

HD600 is more neutral, deal with it.

>being this delusional
well whatever, you enjoy your inaccurate trash.

They have multiple pictures and explanation of their set up on their site dumbass.

>tfw missed it
>tfw easy 5 million

So, I really fucking love the Takstar Hi2050. I bought one pair a few years ago for desktop, and I want to get another one for work, but they don't seem to be produced anymore.

Anyone have a good alternative? They're just so comfy for me.

How much were the 6XX?

$200 USD plus shipping

How much do you want know about sensitivity?

I don't think they broke out what could be called the Stax house sound. The only strong outlier to that in about two decades is the 007.

>wondering if the more expensive headphones are legitimately worth it
it is all entirely subjective
>Is a neutral sound necessarily better?
entirely subjective
However, people do tend to prefer a "neutral" sound. There's a tangent I could go on about neutrality and "sound quality" but...

Sound balance is very strongly related to "quality", but parametric EQ makes this the one aspect you have high control over. This does makes expensive headphones dubious if they are primarily described by the acoustic EQ. Before you ask, soundstage is heavily shaped by the tonal balance.
If you aren't interested in using a parametric EQ, you have to find the headphone that fits your desired balance best.
As for neutral headphones that are lower priced, AKG K612 is first. K612 is overall one the more insensitive headphones in production. If you don't want to deal with that, a low-Z model of the DT880 pro or one of HD518/558/598 whatever.

>Black Friday
That happens in third world countries?
>HM5/XPT100
Same base model.
>How's the M40x?
Kinda like the V6/7506, another option. Somewhat spiky in the highs, not the most even bass response.
I suppose I would call it somewhat flat, coarsely speaking.

Brainwavz HM5
