Saphire Radeon RX 480 4GB

'Bout to pull the trigger on this thing. Any thoughts?

It's shit.
Get 6GB GTX 1060 instead.

Only if OP plays old games like Halo:combat evolved and deus ex: game of the year edition. 1060 is trash for newer games.

Unfortunately out of my price range

I don't get that meme

Are you literally retarded?

It's a horrible horrible purchase unless you play old games for everyone.

It's not a meme. The buyers remorse on the dipshits that got the 1060 is MASSIVE.

Did you really think a 1060 with 192GB/s vram and only 3.8 FP32 TFLOPS performance was a good idea at all?

>7970 isn't even on the list anymore
Welp

So I made a good decision?

I'm assuming you want to play new games. If so then yeah, performance will be fucking baller on the 480 especially as more driver updates squeeze out as much juice as possible from that fast vram and high fp32 compute performance.

Thanks, I just ordered it. Needed it quickly because my old HD6950 died today. RIP

if you play 1k, get Nvidia - its purpose is to cater for keks. eyefinity or 4k - get RX480 8GB

Which Nvidia? I'm assuming you mean the 1060 with 3/6GB VRAM?

same price-range, baby

same guy spreading lies and cherrypicking some single game... pathetic

If you are going for the 4GB, why not the XFX 480 for $190? It's a waste of money. For that price you can already get a 8GB 480 or 6GB 1060.

In terms of performance the 4GB 480 is on par with the 3GB 1060 but slower than the 6GB 1060. Also the 1060 uses way less power.

>inb4 nvidiots spout "but le human eye can't see past 3GB of vram!!!"

Got the Asus version 4gb last week, its great, you wont be disappointed

I have an RX 470 4gb, FX 8320 and 8 gb of RAM and im playing titanfall 2 at 1440p at around 50 fps and a solid 60 at 1080p with close to h8h settings. Expect about 10% depending on the rest of your configuration.

AMD = Dx12 and future thinking
NVIDIA = Dx11 and will do better in most existing games.

Ive seen it generation after gen, nvidia ages like shit and AMD ages like wine

why not compare 480 to 1080 retard

>Dx12 and future thinking
>I'm buying a lower mid-end card because I think it will be more futureproof when DX12 finally is standard in like 2 years

good thinking

This. The XFX 480s are pretty much the best

Are you literally retarded?

Pornhub looks same on GTX210 - that's all that matters

user said 480 is shit for old games using outdated APIs. You've just proved him right.

GTX 1060 if you play old games else Rx 480 if you play new games using a modern API. It's that simple.

OP doesn't sound like he wants to play half life 2 or Call of Duty 2 on repeat until the day he dies. A 1060 would be the worst decision of his life.

>sayng AMD products are good
it seems like you are

yes; in specs 480 a lit better than 1060

Stupid frogposter

see and pic related

I can also cherrypick games.

Doesn't change the fact that the 1060 in almost all 2016 games performs better than the 480.

I'm looking to get an RX 480, but I'm not sure which one is the best model to get. I've heard good things about the ASUS, Sapphire, and the MSI, but I'm still not sure. Also what's a good price for the 8GB models? Is it better to wait until Black Friday or get one now? I can get $30 off on Jet

And irl. nvidia shit the money bed when they decided to not support full hardware async support. Now they'll pay for it dearly especially as more DX12 games come out.

i mean you can save youself money and use intel GPU

As already said, the $190 4GB 480 is pretty much the best bang for the buck. For the price of the other 480s it makes more sense to get a 1060.

Actually I kind of play a lot of older titles. I didn't realize the kind of games you play matter that much. I think it won't make much difference wether I'm playing quake, half life 2 and CSS on 200 or 400 fps on my 60Hz FHD screen.

Do you want emulators running properly or anything OGL not shitting itself? If yes get nvidia.

Why not wait a month for the black friday deals...

>I can also cherrypick games.
In most DX12 games the 1060 shits itself.

>Doesn't change the fact that the 1060 in almost all 2016 games performs better than the 480.
Doesn't change the fact that the Rx 480 will shit all over the GTX 1060 as more DX12 games out out.

Get GTX 1080
It better in every way than this outdated card

>will shit all over the GTX 1060 as more DX12 games out out.

Oh yeah? Let's look at the newest DX12 titles

>BF1 DX12
>On avg 480 is slightly faster, but DX12 introduces major stutter issues and is unusable on AMD and NVIDIA cards. On DX11 Nvidia way faster

>GoW
>One of the best implementations of DX12
>Runs faster on Nvidia cards

Enjoy your shit cooling, sub-par performance and dying pcie slot. faggot.

Part of the reason I'm set on get a 480 over the 1060 is I'm getting a freesync monitor, so nvidia is kind of out of the question. The $190 is the XFX one, right? Does 8GB make a big difference over 4GB, particularly in games with higher resolution textures?

so these beanchmarks have a pattern i've discovered that its dependant on anti-aliasing
but really do you still need it at higher res?

I think if you go for any of nvidia or AMD its depends on the games you enjoy and so forth

I notice alot of Sup Forums tends to like verification and i think this is a silly idea.
Brand loyal idoits will always try to pull you to ether side.

best to make up your own mind
In my opioion

Don't go with anything under 6GB its just not worth it if your keeping this for a long time.
the brand doesn't matter its all in playable FPS and that is what is good.

1080 Ti when?

felt the same way when the 5970 disappeared.

they sell for about $30 , ill just hold on to it for a server build or something.

Which RX480 is better? The Nitro+ from Sapphire or the GTR from XFX? I can't decide between these two.

Well, they're not putting any of AMD's 200 series either
Anyway I think it shoudl still be around 960-1050 level, definitevely better than the shitty RX 460 and probably above 950 too

I have a 8350 CPU and a 6870 GPU.
Need to upgrade my GPU.
Should I get a RX 480?

I'm still using my HD7850 that can still play games like Overwatch at respectable settings and framerates and even handles GTA V, why wouldn't I keep a RX480 for at least 2 years?

buy 480

is the 1050 a trick?

I can't believe those cards go for over $200. I'm glad I bought a used 960 for $100 on craigslist.

The 7970 is equivalent to a 280x. So basically it's shits all over a 960.

Try playing new games like ROTR, Forza Horizon etc.

Btw. Forza Horizon 2 is another DX12 game where the 1060 is faster than the 480.

The XFX GTR and the MSI Gaming X are by far the two best 480s. Sapphire just didn't put the money or effort in with the Nitro. It's a small, cheap and loud cooler, far off from their majestic efforts with the 290X and Fury.

The only game ive been unable to run on ultra high textures is ark survival which is super unoptimized

4gb asus 480 here

Its a meme, especially the ti. 470 is close enough in price to warrant waiting and saving

strix or that ugly white one?

ugly white one

>He fell for the Sapphire meme
