Shuffling short videos using the OSC is horrible, works fine with keybindings. Is there any way to fix this?

The directshow stack is better: mpc-hc, madvr and assfiltermod!

You can mimic some top features with shitty lua scripts and mpv hooks.
However expect poor performance and glitches.

>assfiltermod

I thought that was a meme, is it really functional?

Yes, much better than the internal mpc-hc subtitle renderer.
Use the nightly/latest build!

>poor performance
this retard never even used mpv.

Im using windows and dont have that problem.
One thing that really helps performance is putting priority=high in mpv.conf, not sure if that will fix your problem though.

Why would I use this when potplayer exists?

You are probably a linux fag that thinks using unofficial drivers are efficient.
Opengl and angle are terrible, dxinterop is very experimental.
No opencl or direct compute shaders.
Ewa* scalers are slower than madVR or MPDN.

mpv performs just as well, if not better than mpdn or mpc-hc + madvr for me. And I'm on windows.

Can't confirm

Why is VDPAU bad again?
I honestly can't tell the difference between VDPAU with hqscaling and opengl-hq

Retry and make better benchmarks. You are probably just a minimalist and your brain likes the minimal look of mpv.

What's a good mpv config that can utilize this hardware well?

Only reason I still use mpv is because of youtube-dl, as soon as the other directshit players get it, I'll go back again.

You can use it with directshow player!
Pipe is working great!

Haha mpv fags on suicide watch!

>foozoor
Some Sup Forums morons would like to sue madshi.
And it seems that another one released all the madshi's algorithms for fun.

>madshi
Annoying, but I'm glad they did this before I published NGU and not after, so I could add a little bit (not too much, though) of protection against reverse engineering.

NGU, feel the true HD!

Are there any advantages to use video-sync=display-desync?

>super-xbr:
img3.picload.org/image/rdwlpoap/xbr100.png
>ngu:
img3.picload.org/image/rdwlpoao/ngu.png

super-xbr looks better to me.

Yes NGU is a dumb madShit.

I don't know why but the madshi's renderer is now fucking slow, it seems this is his new code obfuscator/protector that messes the performance.

NGU is sharper but also has a ton of artifacts, though that might just be from the source video being shit.

Yes it doesn't work with silly compressed videos.

It's time for mpv fans to create a ngu like algorithm.

Where is the guy who dumps all the madshi's shaders?
Is the new madvr release more protected now?

After some tests I don't think NGU (high) is better than nnedi3 (32ns) with SSimSuperRes.glsl and the performance are the same on my windows install.

kek

So, I stumbled upon this:

github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/2685

And after trying it out, I must admit that I can't go back anymore!
Minimal flicker, minimal blur, while still being amazingly smooth!

What does Sup Forums think about this tscale option for mpv?

(Remember to definitely activate tscale-clamp too though, else you'll get major ringing artifacts!)

Interesting, will try it out.

>The directshow stack
Literal 90s technology. DirectShow is old enough to drink and I bet there are people ITT who were born after its first release. I'm a Windows user and I'm so happy to be free of that bullshit. I no longer have to keep up with which ASS filter, libavcodec wrapper and DirectShow front-end is least shit, nor do i have to rely on hacks like ReClock or make sure my system is clean of old codecs when I install a new one.

Anyone shilling DirectShow in these threads is prolonging the death of a deprecated technology. They're not only doing a disservice to their fellow Windows users, they're holding back digital video playback technology in general. DirectShow needs to be fucking buried already.

not to mention that directshow is slated to be removed in future builds of windows.

It's seriously DirectX 1.0-era tech. It was introduced to dethrone Video for Windows technology in 1995.

Why is tscale-clamp off by default?

I get a "Taking screenshot failed." when I do this, anyone know why?

Let me guess. You're using windows and ANGLE backend?

I'm using windows. This is my current config (which is bare bones, I haven't been using this player for long)

Ctrl+s is broken on angle backend but no one report it

>All that artifacting on NGU

MadVR retards will eat that shit up like the second coming of christ only because it makes their GPUs want to explode.

Except hundreds of Sup Forums fags!

am i the only one that feels like ngu used a shit ton less blur?

Why would I use mpv when XtremePlayr9 that I downloaded from Softonic™ works just fine?

I wonder if these daily shill threads will ever end?

Haha! What a retard!

Hopefully the /mpv/ community will create something better. :p

You sure showed him.

got some benchmarks / numbers I could compare to?

>Annoying, but I'm glad they did this before I published NGU and not after, so I could add a little bit (not too much, though) of protection against reverse engineering.
challenge accepted

:D

NNEDI3 + SSSR doesn't look any better, though. It's just a bad source with very ugly compression artifacts. Garbage in -> garbage out still applies.

Recently I reinstalled macOS and got mpv from homebrew and now the interface (play/pause buttons etc) is ugly is hell. It wasn't excellent in the past but now it's just plain ugly. Is there a way to use the old UI?

On another note where the fuck are the custom controllers? There's no way people are fine with those abominations

Look at the mpv FAQ, retard!

Thanks

It's not a performance problem. I can play 4k HEVC videos without any problem. I can also shuffle via OSC flawlessly as long as it's not a short video.
Already am.

One thing I have noticed is that I have to click twice on the seek bar.. If I only click once it will jump back at the beginning of the video.

here's an example. Seeking in this video via OSC doesn't work properly. Works in Firefox though, lol.

I want to use the last version mpv for linux and I don't want to compile it myself. What do?

are you stupid?

Yes, and?

install winblow

why not mpc-hc?

>mpv thread
>everybody talking about madVR
who gives a shit, honestly? This is an mpv thread

This desu senpai

These mpv threads are autistic as fuck

>[mkv] Discarding potentially broken or useless index.
apparently mpv says the index of the file is broken. sounds like a shitty/corrupt encode

>this is a mpv thread
>thread posts with madvr algos backported

without the bitter lonely autitsts you wouldn't have access to the players on the left either

>doom9 in charge of encryption

...

ayy lmao

Did he just xor his shit or what?

It's like watching a 12 year old kid learn about Python in school.

>mkv
>sounds like a shitty/corrupt encode

Nope, this is a long standing issue that mpv cannot play some/many mkv files correctly and the devs/shills try to blame it on "proprietary xml bullshit" which really makes no sense when all other players and even web browsers work fine.

works fine for me

post webm of you doing to prove it

like this?

I wanna submit a pull request to add a bit of functionality but I'm afraid my code is shit, what do I do?

use a fake name for your github accoutnt and git settings on ur pc

what functionality?

Thanks but that's not really the kind of advice I was looking for.

A property that is not yet exposed.

Just do it

Don't let your dreams be dreams

you're the click to pan guy aren't you (meme)

So I have a keybinding for show_text "${playlist}" but can I make the font smaller for this text? I think there was a way with ASS tags or something?

please post your config?

Did /mpv/ try to make a better nnedi3 like algorithm like madshi tried to?
I am wondering if it's possible to increase sharpness of ewa_lanczossharp and add kind of antiring/anti-aliasing/deblock passes to prevent artefacts.

What was the command to set the volume controls to your mousewheel?

Having a weird issue with MPV that just started last night.

Happens when using the x64 bit build from 16-08-26 from mpv.srsfckn.biz/ and seems to occur at random.

When I open a video file in MPV, the output to all of my monitors stops. Re-plugging the cables does nothing, mashing keys does nothing. The only thing I can do in this state is to restart the computer.

On my TV it'll begin displaying a message along the lines of "Input mode not supported" when this happens whereas my monitors just go black.

Running a GTX970 with the latest drivers, i7 4790k, 16GB RAM, Wangblows 10 x64.

MPV conf:

vo=opengl-hq:interpolation:tscale=oversample:cscale=ewa_lanczossharp:scale=ewa_lanczossharp:blend-subtitles
video-sync=display-resample
hwdec=auto-copy
ytdl-format=bestvideo+bestaudio/best

deband=no

softvol=600

af=drc

save-position-on-quit

that was with no-config

wats the best config?

are you on linux?

yes

Did you try dragging? I have same issue as with and without config on linux.

MOUSE_BTN3 volume 2
MOUSE_BTN4 volume -2

Why don't you try his newest build with the new syntax?

github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/adf65634d85c3c881268687025e39706046d7535

Will this ever be accepted?

Gave it a shot last night, but the video plays back with odd stutter where it looks as if the video is quickly switching from black frames to the correct frames every half-second or-so.

I'll try it again though, maybe it was my config messing with it.

you're referring to a commit already in the codebase, what is there to accept?

Is it really? than how come it doesn't work?

It's just not the default because it's more expensive to render or something. To use it you need to set seekbarstyle = "knob" in your osc.conf or whatever the name of that file was. Also I don't think there has been an official release since that commit so you'll have to use a compiled version.
