What kind of data can a hacker steal from a kernel anyways??

Is this what living in china is like

Fedora has a firewall on by default.

>install fedora
>spend an hour editing conf files because I didn't realize the firewall is on by default

>install linux
>doesn't come with norton
>get infected

>install linux
>prompt comes up for a fraction of a second
>fans start spinning
>10 seconds later a fat bearded penguin appears in the bottom-right corner
>it says "I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux..."

Cinnamon Mint:
>Uncomplicated firewall (ufw)
sudo ufw status
sudo ufw status verbose
sudo ufw disable
sudo ufw enable
ls /etc/ufw/*.rules
sudo ufw show raw

KEK. This didn't happen, OP.

I thought linux came with a firewall in the kernel.

Admin accounts only matter in a domain environment, you can get all the info you need out of a normal non privileged account if you want.
