Hey guys, I am having some issues installing my SSD

I disconnected my HDD and put in my USB boot for the SSD
it worked great. loaded winblows etc etc all is good
I set up winblows with my SSD
Then I plug my HDD back in

Now I went into my bios and put my SSD as the primary boot drive, but I Guess it reset it when I disconnected my HDD because it then booted up from my HDD instead of my SSD

So I reset my computer and then went into bios and put my SSD as the primary boot drive.

But then it wouldn't boot, it gave me a Hard drive write error Ctrl alt delete to reset message

I turned it off and then disconnected the HDD and now it wont boot into my SSD, it says it can't find a version of windows on the SSD and the boot USB drive doesn't work anymore.

Anyone have any ideas of what I should do?

Thanks

SSDs are snake oil

HDDs are certainly cheaper per GB. But if you have a need for high performance AND high density, the only real solution is an SSD.

RAMDisks are too expensive to use for anything over ~8GB, so for 4k video editing or similar, buying 500-1TB SSDs just makes the most sense economically.

You get data rot on HDDs because of rotational velocidencity.

while i agree that a large capacity HDD is great for data storage a SSD is better and faster for operating systems to be installed to because they boot up much faster and applications launch and run much faster,

choose the best tool for the job, dont love one and hate the other because you are undecided how to best use each one

you have to take the platters down to a tire shop and have them balanced, then they spin smoother and your data wont get whacked off

PROTIP: YOU CAN'T

>having to listen to HDD spinning in 2016
fuck that

>dat burst write speed
>not even large enough to find actual seq read/write performance
ew.

(SSD + HDD) > SSD >>>>>> HDD

It's only doing tests on a 1GB test file, if that's not large enough of a file for your preferences I can adjust it if you like.

What do you think would be more appropriate 1GB test file is the standard however.

>not having 15k rpm SAS drives in RAID gloriously roar to life on boot up

FUCK... I literally can't. You win this one, OP. Kudos. Catch ya on the flip side...

No, prove to me why HDD > SSD you bait faggot.

notice how it's always poor NEET faggots that still argue for solely an HDD, and within a decade that argument will be rendered obsolete anyway.

...

Ssd
No moving parts
More efficient, emits little heat, Requires little power, and no sound.

What is the WD red for? What makes them different from blue, yellow and green?

red is faster, blue runs colder, yellow is great for storing anime and green uses less energy

Here it is again with a 4GiB test.

It should be noted I was uploading a torrent while this was running, so the read performance is slightly lower since my drive was doing ~5-7MB/s worth of uploading at the same time.

helps with the picture

Black?

designed for storing porn, perfect in that regard

How is being autistic?

Why is yellow great for chinese cartoons

Why is black great for porn?

pays well

>Slow
>Noisy
>Uses more power and emits more heat

Yeah totally HDD's are so much better

reinstall (gentoo this time)

I have had that and I say ENOUGH

For laptops, they're obviously essential. For desktops, there really isn't a massive need. They're far more reliable though in all ways. I have having corrupted data out of nowhere.

Just get both. Problem solved kek.

>tfw I'm anxious that my SSD will just fail without an error for no reason
>tfw using a HDD gives me a complete peace of mind as HD Sentinel will notice me if SMART values are worsening

The reason why I like SSDs is not just their speed but primarily that they are silent. Meanwhile most HDDs are louder than 3 fans. I have a completely passive cooled system and replacing the HDD was the best part about it. Not only are they loud in idle too, no, they give you that irregular bumping noise all the time.
Plus they are huge and heavy. For laptops, they have to use 2,5" HDDs, whose speeds and power consumption are totally fucked, meanwhile you can fit 4 SSDs into one 2,5" HDD. They weigh nothing and they consume much less power so for laptops that's the only viable choice nowaways.

posting in a b8 thread

don't ask me man, ask wd...

oculus pleb

Where do you read about this? Is it in their advertisement material? I could not find anything about it.

it's a street legend bro, gotta ask around, find the "right people", you know what I'm saying

REDS are for Sup Forums
YELLOWS are for chinks, japs etc
BLUES are for pajeets
BLACKS are for those on /lgbt/ that like BBC

If money isn't an issue, SSDs are slightly faster, though the main advantage is the lack of moving parts. I really haven't noticed much of a speed difference since getting an SSD, but I think from now on I'm going to just buy mechanical hard drives because they offer more space for less money.

Don't listen to this fucking retard. Reds, blues and greens are identical apart from firmware.

Reds, greens blues are also sub 7200rpm, except for a few 1tb blues I think, so they're all equally slow and shitty.

Don't fall for the shitty nas marketing meme, it's almost the same as having a fucking gun shaped radiator on your motherboard.

it's light and day and not only in regards to the startup

This.
>any application that would benefit from speedups require very large amounts of space and/or many writes
>ssds are extremely expensive per GB
>many writes kill ssds in weeks or months
>hdd live a lot longer
>hdd don't lose data when unpowered
>all the data you could speed up by using an ssd needs to be reliably stored (such as personal files)
>all the remaining data (such as programs proper) can easily be reinstalled as needed and are too small to benefit from disk speedups
