UPS.

this

Some pelican brand with a million dollar warranty. Can't wait to get my new pic build when a storm fucks my shit up ;^]

surge protectors degrade over time, you might consider replacing it if its that old

>light is still on
shouldnt matter, I remember reading that even ones that still had the light on but were old tended to be faulty

Spend the $60 to get something with a battery in it.

APC SmartUPS 750

I use this.

Holy shit bro I have the same one

A black Tripp Lite. Simple enough and looks great.

>using a surge protector
fucking pussy

Get raped and kill yourself, you retarded fucking faggot sack of nigger shit with down syndrome.

>Get raped and kill yourself, you retarded fucking faggot sack of nigger shit with down syndrome.
Get raped and kill yourself, you retarded fucking faggot sack of nigger shit with down syndrome.

My whole house is surge protected from the breaker box. I'm plugged into the fucking matrix.

Enterprise grade UPS connected to all my network and computer equipment.

this big bitch

Dad worked as an IT guy for school district. He gave me a huge fucking 30lb surge protector/ battery backup. Thing weighs a ton but it's never failed me. Not sure why it's so fucking heavy though

>Not sure why it's so fucking heavy though
you do know it has coils and batteries in it?

This is the main unit, I also have a 1000XS.

>posting big close up image to make people think its big
kek

>mental illness

It's 70 lbs. It's not particularly large but it has quite a bit of weight.

Just bought a small Tripp lite strip. Comes with $25k insurance apparently.

Enjoy your fried PC because you where too cheap

nothing has happened to far

>nothing has happened to far

you geeks realise any power spike big enough to fry your gear isnt going to be stopped by the 10 dollar piece of crap you got from walmart

The funny part is, they do

Surges are not a problem where I live.

That's not the point

What is the point?

To protect your fucking equipment

It's like saying I don't need to lock my doors because I live in a good neighborhood

>spend $1000+ on computer and monitor
>won't spend and extra $30 on surge protector

>To protect your fucking equipment

Has anyone here ever experienced any damages to any electronics due to surges?

Because i never did, sometimes it happens and shit just doesn't die, not even the clock or anything at all,

>Comes with $25k insurance apparently.
I have heard that those insurance policies are notoriously difficult to use.

You have to ship (with your money) your damaged equipment to them. Then they conduct an investigation. No too bad if you are shipping a tablet of laptop. It is a pain if you are shipping something large (flatscreen tv).

Easier to use your renter's insurance.

>there hasn't been a surge in a decade
>happens to get a surge tomorrow
k

Home owner's insurance

Pilot S. Cheap, but it does the job.

>insurance
>better let my equipment burn and mess with insurance, maybe not even getting it, then reconfiguring everything again
k

>reconfiguring everything again
Backups

Surge protected?

Offline of course

>keeping all your data in one place
retard

reconfiguring from backups isn't reconfiguring?
autism at its finest

>Surges are not a problem where I live.
>The process of power generation, distribution and grid maintenance are different where I live.
Unless you have spent money to ensure you have clean electricity, you experience the same issues/risks everyone else does.

I know plenty of folks who don't use surge protectors/ups. They are fine. I would never do that because it is a stupid risk.

Just don't fool yourself into thinking the electricity in your neighborhood is special. Everyone's electricity is degrading their sensitive electronics. Much of it is slow degradation but it is cumulative. And luckily, decent power supplies will protect your computer...but that is only for your computer.

Of course I would rather replace a used up surge protector than a power supply.

His surge protector has a fire extinguisher and an automatic gun that shoots thieves

Must be fun redoing it daily.

It's literally 1 script on the command-line,
once every 20 years maybe, so far 0.

>The process of power generation, distribution and grid maintenance are different where I live.
It is. Firstly, my photovoltaics inverter and distributor filters the electricity.
Secondly, functioning breakers are mandatory in Germany.

What has this to do with anything? Retarded post.

>I don't use breakers
>Has a breaker and power filter
kys

Go for a walk, dig up backup HDD #1, deposit backup HDD #2
Plug in
Run script
Plug out

Yes, it's killing me.
Also
>you don't need backups if you have a surge protector

>you don't need backups if you have a surge protector
>not having several surge protected network backups
kek

This is a standard electrical setup in German homes. Most private homes have photovoltaics on the roof by now.

>missing the point

House could burn down
Thieves could break in
The police could break in

Yes, my several concrete rooms with racks in in could all burn down at once, wew

>The police could break in
Not where I live, you pedofile

Breakers aren't gonna save your electronics from overvoltage

My photovoltaic inverter does

Monster because i unironically love supporting audiophile cancer

>my photovoltaics inverter and distributor filters the electricity.
user, you have custom electrical filtering from the sound of it. So obviously you aren't getting power directly from "the grid" so most of comments don't apply to you. You sound like you know what you are talking about. Most people I know get their power from the grid, they should be using some type of protection either from a surge protector or UPS.

>functioning breakers are mandatory
Are the breaker for your home spec'd to protect electronics like monitors and PCs? I always thought those blew way too slow to protect anything sensitive?

me too
if your mother is the matrix

>I always thought those blew way too slow to protect anything sensitive?
they do

You don't have lightning?

The protected light is powered through a thermal fuse that blows when the varistors (which provide the surge protection) degrade too much. So as long as it's not a 'fake', the light is trustworthy.

He does, he live in Germany, but obviously hes just too stupid.

The whole house has lightning protection circuitry.
Pretty sure this is also mandatory.

But that circuitry won't protect delicate electronics, it's pretty much the same everywhere else in EU.
