This is the future ran by the kikes. Donald Trump will fix this and uncuck america.

nobody cares about america, i want big walls, tall buildings and flying bikes

and you'll get 2 of those things with Trump. Congratulations.

>make a cyberpunk future
>tech companies slap flat colors everywhere to hide that they're cyberpunk tech companies

I just want my neon-lit alleys, dammit.

iT WILL ALL BE 5000K LED
NO SODIUM
NO MERCURY
NO NEON
5000K LED
Cyberpunk is dead.

The future might be incandescent.

news.mit.edu/2016/nanophotonic-incandescent-light-bulbs-0111

i DREAM!
>Everywhere replaces low pressure sodium with LED when LPS is more efficient

You can have them, just not in the US.

Name the specific Cyberpunk things you'd like to have/not have.

Have you read some of the foundational cyberpunk novels? The whole POINT was that the potential future was shit. Sure the protagonist(s) found themselves in extraordinary situations, else it would lack narrative, and and they got moments of semi-glory, but those go unnoticed by the wider population. That kind of thing could be going down right now and you wouldn't know it because you're not the protagonist. Instead, you're Anonymous posting on Sup Forums in the cyberpunk present.

You can be certain we're in the cyberpunk future, because everything we ever thought was "awesome" is happening (or will soon be happening), yet instead we perceive it as underwhelming or threatening.

Cyberpunk is dead, chummers

Because it exists in the imaginations of emo-boys. Or it is commissioned by game companies to exploit emo-boys.
Either way, there are way too many emo-boys around for sanity.

It tries to emulate the neon-underground-clublike dystopia.
Fuck you!
Emo?

Our future is lit by cheap blue LEDs.
Sad, but true.

...

>tfw our future is shittier than cyberpunk

>emo-boys
lmao someone's stuck in 2005

Growing up, we are told a romanticized story of how the "future" will be like, but have any of you stopped to consider that we are actually in the future right now?

We can send entire libraries of books to each other within minutes digitally. We can take pictures of our environments and send them to each other instantly. We can not only communicate with each other instantly via voice or IM, but we can even establish a video link that will allow us to see each other.
Right now, there are men floating in space. We can hop on a plane and traverse the world within two days at most.

This is the future, it just isn't as good as it could have been. Why? Because this is the truth, its all ran by a small group of elite

they're called
S A D B O Y S
you cuck

>S A D B O Y S
2013 called, they want you back, granpa!

I think the main point is that we haven't implemented any classic cyberpunk aesthetics on any real scale, at least in the Americas and Europe.

Because people never paid attention to where we all were heading.

Read the foundations, there's minimal deviance in aesthetics when compared to modern cityscapes. The technology is cool but it doesn't transpire to a more grandiose scale you might expect from all the non literary imagery.

I want steampunk

Do you browse reddit perchance?

We're tirelessly trying to destroy the earth, we genocide shitload of species every years and noone gives any fuck about it. What do you expect? The only thing humanity deserves is a painfully hard world to live on where we slowly disappear from earth in pain and struggle.
These distopias are too technologically advanced to be realistic, we won't last long enough to live in a cybershit world.

No
But like big flying ships

How do >we feel about simulation hypothesis here?

I don't buy it. The laws of physics just aren't terribly friendly to simulation. There's a reason our most powerful supercomputers are those engaged with simulating physical phenomena, and even they work with significantly simplified data.

>we are actually in the future right now

no real virtual reality
no personal flying cars
no teleportation

>future-future
no space travel
no other life forms found yet

we're about 2-3k years from being 'in the future'.

Cyberpunk isn't about any of those things. Some of them are literal fiction.

If you buy into it, you have to believe that creating a simulation like our present reality would be trivial for the computers of the civilization with access to that technology, whether that's a distant post-human civ. or alien civ. is totally up to individual opinion.

cyberpunk was always dystopian.

look at the picture in the OP, that place looks horrible.

>Have you read some of the foundational cyberpunk novels? The whole POINT was that the potential future was shit.
Not him but yes, the point of the /books/ was that the future was dire. And it would have been fine and dandy if remained so: in books only. The problem is that it arrived in the real world.

Even Wm G said he wouldn't want to live there, just visit it. But here it is, now.

And looking at CRISPS we are also having a topping of biopunk/ribopunk.

>that place looks horrible
I think it looks neat.

Thanks for the wallpaper user! Good game too.

Is that from some actual 16-bit game?

where are the trees, lads?

In the woodchippers.

Thanks chummer. I watched the movie a week ago inspired exactly by this clip. Great effect, great action, bad script. This music video does justice though.

because you have every element of cyberpunk besides the cool romanticized ones in the present

The music video is kinda better than the movie itself though, gets rid of all the boring/sluggish parts.

The whole TNI album is a masterpiece desu.

We haven't even had programmable computers for 100 years yet. Give it time. AI is making huge leaps forward. We're already ruled by a few elites. There have been huge breakthroughs in stem cell research and cloning. Even Pajeets living a third world mud hole carry small ARM computers with touch displays. Nearly everyone on earth has access to knowledge that people two decades ago couldn't even imagine. The internet is so large that you could look at one web page every second and die before you see the whole thing. Computers are truly amazing. They're already integrated into security systems, heating and cooling systems, doors, windows, cars, and like half of your home appliances. I'm in the upper peninsula of Michigan in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. Just got done shoveling a mountain of white bullshit and now I'm warming up inside. Even I have several computers and internet access. This is the future. It's a great time to be alive. You're shiposting instead of getting raided by barbarians or starving because your crops failed. You can read, write, do basic math. There were lots of people just 200 years ago that had none of this stuff.

If a Neuromancer movie ever gets made, "Final Impact" should be playing it the opening scene in the Chiba City bar.

>tfw there will never be a director that understands the cyberpunk culture at large and tries to incorporate it rather than make his own statement

There is also the Snow Crash vision of a cyberpunk future. More action, more fun, less dystopic, still lethal.

>cyberpunk

More like cybercuck. Those who are trying to stay in control of their technological assets are a slim minority these days. Even this board is by now full of cucks who keep unironically defending all kinds of botnet, feature removal, etc.

All this lamentations makes me laugh because we actually live in the 'future' but people still saying 'but don't have x'. If it's a problem to you then learn yourself a shit and do it. People won't do shit specially for you.

Can't wait to live in Mega-City One

Lots of the mega cities in asia are like that. The only difference is that they were built up more recently than the US and Europe so they had the opportunity to build with the newest tech in mind.

Tokyo (by way of Chiba City Blues) is cyberpunk but not in the same way as BAMA in Wm G's books.
