Zen is solid. its a new design in the post finFET era thats gonna match the Corei7 on a smaller node. All they have to do is be cheaper per core and offer HT/unlocked Multis by default with cheaper motherboards and they win.

And zen+ on 7nmFF will potentially surpass intel unless they through their architecture out and have some brand new shit we dont know about.

Intel is played out they have noe more IPC gains to squeeze out of their arch and rely entirely on new nodes and better binning.

AMD set the target at 40% IPC gain over Piledriver. So that's all they have to do for it to be a success. Luckily zen hasn't been overhyped to the extent that Fury was. So expectations are where they should lie.

Intel makes it money from corporate deals. Places like AWS buying them 10's of thousands of CPUs for their datacenters for example. Intel has better RMA support and connections/leads in that world now. Going to be tough for AMD.
