Just picked up a refurbished r9 fury for $200. Why doesn't this card get as much recognition as it deserves?

Because it's shit.

Posted from my iPhone.

The chips are broken Fury X

It sucks ass

Because 4GB.

and the 970 were broken 980s, what's your point? This happens in all technology.

the card does have cons going against it that may turn a lot of people off.
>12 inches
>2x 8-pin
>high power consumption while under load
>bad coil whine

>refurbished

How do you think the GPU was refurbished? You bought a used card that isn't confirmed dead, that's it.

Because it doesn't deserve that recognition you idiot.

I have one

It's shit.

I have a Sapphire Fury Nitro, it's pretty good.

Why didn't you buy one new for $240?

>bad coil whine
Have you seen one of these in person or do you just spout whatever shit you read on the internet?

I bought the nitro card posted earlier and, while i can hear the coil whine, i can only hear it with a panel off of my case and my head right next to the card. And its not a screeming high pitched whine like the one coming from the power adapter of my xbox one, its a really low pitch that blends in with fan noise.
Im very happy with this card. It gives you gtx 980 scc performance for about the same as an oc rx 480.
I bought it for high framerate 1080p gaming but surprisingly it can run the witcher 2 at ultra/4k 60fps consistent.
The massive cooler barely makes any noise. The rear exhaust 120mm fan on my case makes more noise than this thing does at full load.

>thinking any level of coil whine is acceptable
No.
Your shit is built with low quality parts and will die early.
Fuck off.

I have one that I unlocked to 3840 CUs, it's bretty gud for someone that likes to max shit out at 1920x1200/1080 and doesn't give a shit about 4k or other meme resolutions. I've yet to have issues with any game, same with going wild on MadVR settings too. The appeal was getting a kinda-Fury X without a CLC, and it runs pretty cool even without one

The fact it's HBM probably accounts for how I've been able to bullshit past games with settings that call for 6GB+ cards, i.e. Doom runs with Nightmare settings fine, and Shadow of Mordor doesn't take any noticible hit using the ultra textures

If anything, it was a victim of shitty drivers that worked fine for all cards EXCEPT the Furies, and specific DX9/DX10 bugs and other card-specific optimizations weren't fixed until earlier this year, with the ReLive drivers finally fixing what problems remained, too bad they didn't release with these, as they'd have got a much different reception

Want to get one.

What do you need to unlock it?

They have a BIOS switch, so it's pretty hard to brick it if someone goes wrong. Worst case scenario is the CUs were locked for a reason and it's unstable on all unlocks, or there are hardware locks instead of BIOS locks, which might be something they do to newer cards

Otherwise, if you can successfully unlock, you'll get a 10-15% boost, and in rare cases, you unlock everything and get an air-cooled Fury X

in a nutshell

luck.

AMVidia GTX Fury80 this is not

>kraken g10
>mfw 55c under load

Because you can get a brand new Fury for 220.

People would rather buy their meme 3.5g cards over a fury because muh brand. i.e. they're retards.

>muh power consumption
Yeah, that dollar a year matters. stop living in a europoor country where they pretend electricity is difficult to generate.

Because it's shit.

>people are retarded because they won't buy what I say they should buy
Found the sperg.

fury line although being impressive it had two major problems

1)the hbm bandwidth was and is so massive that nothing can utilise it properly
2)the shader output was never above 70% because of a the back end couldnt be fed enough data fast enough and b because of a the shaders were lagging the whole system by being switching states every time a new workload got introduced..

hopefully we wont see the same shit with vega and hbm 2 (they will have up to 1tera of memory bandwidth..)

It does get recognised.

For contributing to global warming.

then un should ban nvidia for creating gt 480...
and really burn them to the ground to even think to release the gtx 490..

Hey man, Nvidia processors save the earth, why else would they be green.

Not that user, but every single GPU I've owned in the last decade had some kind of electrical noise at least in some situations. My Fury Tri-X has the least so far.

...

I recognize it for being an improvement over my last card and a decent deal at the time. I still wish I could have paid extra for more memory.

>Why doesn't this card get as much recognition as it deserves?
it's getting more than it deserves

Still waiting.
