QUICK!
You are stuck with one for the next 15 years, you have 10 seconds to choose.

Right, because I don't even know what the laptop on the left is. I know it's some kind of MacBook but don't know which.
Thinkpad. ez
BTFO, you still going to die
x220
Then slap the most I can in it. Pretty sure it will take at least 8GB of memory.
i'm already stuck with a x230 for 4 years, i can deal with the remaining years easily
the one on right
do i have to use it though, i already got a t420 and x230
which one has higher specs?
15 years is a long time
ThinkPad, when (if) it breaks down it can actually be repaired.
Thinkpad, of course. Is this some kind of trick question?
Plot twist, Thinkpads screen is not working.
The Macbook, obviously.
x220 with 9 cell + slice
Then you replace it yourself
My only computer for about 4 years has been a 14" T60 with 2GB of memory and a 1.6GHz duo processor.
So that x220 would be an upgrade for me.
Buy one for a few quid (at a higher resolution than it probably came with before).
This is why the ThinkPad is the correct answer: you can just replace anything that breaks.
It's the shitty single-port one.
The thinkpad, because the Mac will break in 2-3 years and become utterly useless, while you'll be able to get parts and keep the X220 running the full 15 and then some.
It can be expanded to:
>Intel® Core™ i7-2640M (2.8GHz, 4MB L3 cache)
>16GB (2x8GB) PC3-12800 at 1600 MHz possible
That should keep you going for 15 years
Already stopped using a 2011 MBA (slow overheating garbage at this point) in favour of that exact one on the right. Only 1 year newer, performs like it's 5 years newer. Easy decision.
Good, most of them come with a piece of shit TN panel that belongs in the trash anyway and it takes like 30 seconds to swap out with an IPS.
>x220
there is no way that rMB will last 15 years (sierra doesn't even work on 2009 MBPs) and i can't do anything to fix it.
Not that difficult, there's only one possible solution.
In fact I'm already stuck on that plan, have two x220 and 3 extra batteries, one slim and two extra large.
Thinkpad
I like Apple but id prefer my Autodesk suite not to have a retarded ui
get the small one, comes in handy when you know you need 3~4 hours of battery and you want to shave a bit of weight
The MacBook. I couldn't deal with peasant resolution for the next 15 years. For all of you talking about slapping various upgrades on it, these are meant to be unchanged, its not the same machine if you change a component. The ThinkPad will most likely fail before the MacBook in some way. The ThinkPad is maybe 30% more powerful roughly, doesn't matter too much though because it'll be running Vindoos which is shit anyway negating any benefits. You can edit 4K footage on the MacBook, the ThinkPad can't do that.
x220 easily, because it'll actually last for 15 years. the macbook will die in 7.
>these are meant to be unchanged
That's not why you buy a business laptop, user.
ThinkPad, because the core M in MacBook is cucked as fuck.... For a shorter period I'd go with the MB so the price of X240 can fall.
>you're stuck with one for the next 15 years
I would imagine, to make this something more challenging that you wouldn't be allowed to alter anything. If you are the obvious choice is the ThinkPad.
...
Chinkpad obviously
can't live with that shitty "butterfly" keyboard
x220 of course
I already have a x201 for daily (college) use and I'm pretty happy with it
Maybe one day I find a 220 with a good price and upgrade
pretty unfair comparison user since the mac is barely a computer at all
...
>Core M
>edit 4k footage
choose one
I'd pick left only because of the screen, 15 years with a TN screen is torture. I'd then install Linux on it.
This
>choose left
>5 years pass
>there's a problem with a soldered component that shouldn't be soldered but that's Apple
>take it to the Apple Store
>sorry, products older than 5 years are "vintage", we don't repair them anymore
>you're stuck with a broken piece of shit for 10 more years
>choose right
>some years passed
>you drop the thinkpad on the ground
>it still works
>you spill a cup of coke on the thinkpad's keyboard while eating some delicious fast food
>it still works
>15 years passed
>it still works
X220 easily.
The macshit will overheat and suffer solder cracking and RAM/SSD failure and have to be thrown in the trash after 2 years, whereas the X220 will run for years without issue and if any come up, every part is user serviceable.
Thank you for letting me know, I'll make sure to get these things for Christmas
>commenting on things you don't know about
Watch Linus do it on YouTube you dumb nig. This ain't Windows pleb shit. Look what a properly optimized OS can do.
>t. mactoddler
>Watch Linus do it on YouTube
The mac book would break much faster than the thinkpad.
thinkpad. I can replace everything inside of it if there is a larger change in technology. Also
>picking macbook
>it breaks after 5 years
>you don't have a pc for the next 10.
X220. If i wanted to i could install macOS on it anyways.
I decline both, as I already have the Precision version of the XPS 15.
>macfags will defend this
Macbook any day, after being fed Sup Forumss' lies I finally woke up from this mass hypnosis and realised that the ThinkPad is a fucking garbage meme hyped up by autists who's 5 years behind in technology.
If you have plans on buying a thinkpad, just don't.
X220 easy.
fuck that homosexual macshit with non replaceable parts and no ports
>t. mactoddler
My library has those thinkpads and they're fucking useless. Trackpad hardly ever works. Definitely going with the macbook. Just install linux on it anyways
>t. mactoddler
Wow you're really making yourself look better than the mactoddlers, user :^)
>t. mactoddler
Would choose left if the keyboard wasn't ass, x220 it is. Can it at least be an x220t?
It's literally called a MacBook, the bezel contains the full model name.
>using the trackpad on a ThinkPad
T420 hackintosh scores.

Hm, I guess the right one then
i wanted to kill myself after 10 seconds of using the keyboard on the macbook so i'm going to go with the thinkpad
the macbook has barely any key travel
but hey it's 3mm thinner, because apparently that's the only spec that hipster faggots care about
/thread
after using macbooks for a while its impossible to go back using that thinkpad garbage.
It just feels so awful
How much do you get paid per post Rajeesh?
X220 and put macOS on it
best of both worlds
>ruining a thinkpad with mactoddlerOS
>t. shitposter
>t. mactoddler
I would take the MacBook. The Thinkpad looks a bit old and clunky.
>t. mactoddler
Some people can afford the best
sry m7
>judging the book by its covers
I don't like macs. Try again.
>the evidence
>HAHA THE EVIDENCE XDD
Haha, 15 years... can a macbook even last a year without going plannedly obsolete?
This.
When someone has the money, why would they buy a throttling overheating fruity toddler toy when they can afford a 20+ hour battery life T560?
Tfw you would take à thinkpad when you have free mac
Nobody buys ThinkPads for personal use. They're business machines ordered by the hundreds and given out to the plebs in a comapny. Its the business world's version of mil-spec, it's good enough for the intended purpose. People only like them here because they can be bought for cheap when companies renew their machines and dump the ThinkPads, they had to be compatible with many things software-wise too which is useful. ThinkPads are the best non-Mac laptop, but Macs will always be the best laptops running the best OS for personal use.
t. 2015 15" rMBP and gaymen rig owner, best of both worlds
macOS is objectively the best OS
>best software available
>best package manager
>best aesthetic
>best terminal
>best filesystem
>best development tools
>but Macs will always be the best laptops
>fruity overheating housefire toddler toy
>best anything
Macs are for gullible technology illiterate morons. i.e. (you)
Thinkpad.
Macbook makes you gay, to be honest.
>fruity toddler OS
>deletes your files if you drag one folder of the same name into another directory with a folder of the same name
Macos is a barely functional fucking joke.
Power users use terminal for file management
Left. I'd rather have a higher resolution than a bunch of deprecated ports
>best software available
no
>>>>>best filesystem
It quite literally is the most advanced operating system which exists. Windows, look at 10, that's the future of Windows. Linux, look at the clusterfuck state that's in. Give me a Bitcoin address so I can send you some money, I want to pay for English lessons for you so you can expand your vocabulary past 'fruity' and 'toddler', you don't seem to know any other English words. Which province of India are you in? Maybe Western Union would be better.
How are you supposed to hold it with one hand then?
In this case, the difference in power is small because of the thinkpad's old hardware. It's ports are all really old. The mac's higher resolution is the most important thing. The majority of computer usage involves reading, and fonts are a lot smoother and clearer on a hi res screen.
APFS is objectively the best filesystem
This hasn't been the case for a while. It merges them normally.
>t. mactoddler
There are 0 modern windows laptops with 16:10 aspect ratio with specs that match the mbpr. Also, Apple is the only company that does hidpi right.
>lol let's slap a 4k screen on a 13" laptop and then complain about scaling issues
>t. mactoddler
My thinkpad came with a delicious non-touchscreen IPS. I love it.
Why would anyone stand for anything else for their expensive work-computer?
Go away Louis.
>t. GNU/autism
>t. mactoddler
This. And the macbook becomes completely unusable after 5 years since the battery can't be replaced and everything is glued together.
>0 computers with spec that match the MacPro
You are right, since even a Windows laptop that costs half is faster than a MacPro.
