here ya go its at 4.3GHz rn so dont hate
how do you a Xeon?
what?
how do i oc?
the first revision of my motherboard allows baseclock oc
i3 stronk
Laptop.
Please rate.
Nice povertyrig, not too many memes.
Unplug all your flashdrives.
Aye, how much seperate storage devices do you want, completely pointless. You're like a verbose meme within speccy.
Kek, I use them as backup for programming shit mainly, whenever I make a change on my main drive it gets backed up to my main flash drive too.
Save my little ass for daddy later please.
My cpu is actually running at 69 c, but whenever i load up speccy it always climbs like that.
69 is hardly acceptable either m8. Sort it out.
Jesus fucking christ, how has your home not burned down yet. You're using a fucking FM2+ processor or some shit with a GTX 960, enjoy every game you ever run being bottlenecked to shit, you total spasmoid.
:D
nice processor lel. I can only imagine that thing grinding to a halt within the next 2 years being clocked so low
CPU is running at 4.7GHz. Kinda feeling the itch for a new one but it doesn't actually bottleneck in any game at 4K, so I don't really have a reason to switch.
I know but I don't even use it in any professional way.
Just a portable webmachine.
Had a Zenbook 13" with dual 1,2ghz and Windows 10 before. It did it's job aswell.
This is my workstation
r8 m8s
What about if they release a CPU microcode update that can only be installed via a BIOS update that gives performance gains?
You're now forced to remain on that BIOS, or modify a later BIOS and hope you know enough to keep the OC functionality from the old version.
My 5820k got a CPU microcode update that boosted memory read/write speeds by a good 15-25%
>My 5820k
Should've gotten a Xeon E5-1650V3, multiplier unlocked Xeon.
>E5-1650V3
I got my 5820k for $290
find me a 1650v3 for less.
That isn't a xeon fool.

You might wanna upgrade your CPU
and your RAM
oh and your screen and your GPU
my gaming machine since 2009.
i think i should upgrade
I upgraded to my 5820k from a Q6600 and haven't looked back.
I'm not in the US so I don't know where to look, where I live I see them for
a shitty portable web machine using year old, non energy efficient CPU architecture
>better binning
Dont be retarded user, intel doesn't do shit for binning on such low end parts
also, ECC support for a home machine? kys
They're $550+ in the US, on ebay used ones go for $400+
...
They're clocked higher in the same power envelope. You can see it on ark.
Only love for you
So fucking what? The 5820k hits 4.2GHz+ easy as fuck regardless
I'd be spending minimally $200+ more than my 5820k for a new one, for literally NOTHING.
I understand Xeons are "cool" because not everyone has one, but i'm not going to waste money on nothing.
How are you liking the GTX 1080s? I'm getting one soon and had a few questions if you're still around:
>How much difference does SLI make?
>Are you getting steady 60 fps at 4k?
>How do you go about plugging in all the monitors? DisplayPort? HDMI? DVI?
>I'm buying a DisplayPort only 144hz monitor. Will it run smoothly are 144hz when plugged into a 1080?
4.2GHz really isn't that much for Haswell
Yes I know
They're good. I got Gigabyte 1080 G1s, mostly due to availability, I got them close to release and this was what I could find that wasn't extremely overpriced. Mine don't OC extremely well, they top out at ~2050MHz maybe, you might get another 100MHz or some shit out of 1080s sometimes, whether I got unlucky or it's because of the power limit I've no idea. Still, an extre Are you getting steady 60 fps at 4k?
Most of the time, yes, at maxed or close to maxed settings, not much AA though. Some games bottleneck hard on CPU though, not in the sense that a 4790K is shit but TW:WH for instance runs a single thread at 100% and when you get to battles with 5000+ units and projectiles flying all over the place it can't keep up. Some are also just unoptimized, like Dishonored 2 (although it runs at 60+ FPS most of the time, in most levels)
>How do you go about plugging in all the monitors? DisplayPort? HDMI? DVI?
ZR24w: DVI
27MU67: HDMI 2.0
U2713HM: DP
I don't like DP because Windows is ""smart"" and removes monitors entirely when they're turned off. This completely fucks desktop icons and window positioning and I sometimes remote into my computer with monitors turned off. The Dell doesn't do this, so it's on DP.
>I'm buying a DisplayPort only 144hz monitor. Will it run smoothly are 144hz when plugged into a 1080?
I assume so, I've got a friend with a 2560x1440 144Hz monitor on a 1080, it runs fins as far as I know.
Core clock is pointless now-a-days anyways. The real bottle neck is RAM. The big advantage of even low end core 4/8 thread Xeon E5's is the quad channel memory.
For the higher order Xeon's (like the 6/12, 10/20) you get 10MB+ more L3 cache. Ofc you lose ~1-1.5GHz of max clock. But you'll waste those cycles waiting for memory access anyways.
I've got my 5820k paired with 3200MHz DDR4 in quad channel.
15MB L3 cache isn't too bad either.
I think that really depends on the workload, if it's running video games core clock is king.
Salty Lake BCLK overclocker here to answer your question!
If Kaby Meme is good enough to make me upgrade my CPU then I'd have to install a BIOS update, but if Kaby Meme was that good I would be getting a nice performance jump anyways. Same for Coffee Lake or whatever they're calling their "oops we fucked up the 10nm process so it's only going in laptops, have another revision" line
> battery lasts easily 13 hours
> muh engery efficiency
kys
be gentle
Chinkpad, rate pls
Isn't the thing coming out after Kaby supposed to have 6 core "mainstream" i7s? That's going to be fairly significant even if it's 14nm, especially if it can clock like Kaby with adequate cooling.
always time for love
Still good for a 6 year old machine?
lookin good 10/10
