Can't wait for Common Sense 2018 beta

This.

All memes aside, the Sup Forums approved method is Anti-Malwabytes + Common Sense 2016.

> Common Sense must constantly run in the background
> Weekly checkup with Malwarebytes

Thanks me later.

The Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.

Nor does ancient ThinkPad with GNU/Linux

Windows 10 already ships with an anti-virus.
That + UAC + system updates + common sense is all you need.

Almost free KGB botnet

Nor does my Nokia 1100, your point being?!

I can't find common sense anywhere. Is it not available online for download?

ublock origin

Bullguard

Adblocker, CCleaner once a week or so and monthly-ish Malwarebytes scans for me.

Common Sense 2017
Combined with the ability to turn on and off javascript at sites you want
and fuck flash

Common Sense.
The last time I ran any AV software was 2003ish.

The only time I got any infections since was when some dumb ass friend tried to use my PC to jailbreak and iPhone, and downloaded some shit.

A network based UTM that can scan for malware before it gets to your machine.

Just use something lightweight that doesn't hog too many resources +common sense edition. MSE/windows defender is fine for this.

That way yo won't get fucked when not paying attention or drunk but you also won't have some pig of an AV thrashing the disk 24/7.

none of you have common sense at all cause you post on Sup Forums

prove me wrong, you can't.

Why would I try to prove your argument wrong? It's completely accurate.

Unrelated to the thread, did images just crap out for anyone else?

Define this Common Sense ©.

Yes it is. Need to upgrade every fucken year is retarded. Just use Common Sense Pro LTS.

Thanks user, I figured it out, somehow my machine fucked the clock and need a power cycle to fix. No idea how it did that.

May the Holy Spirit keep you from harm's way, friend

Thanks for free (You)

nod32 if you really have to use an antivirus

Make up your own damn mind.
I recommend ESET.

Anybody recommending "common sense" is trolling or fucking deluded.

>durrr but I've never had a virus
yeah, this isn't the movies. Malware doesn't display skulls and bones on your monitor. It stays hidden so it can keep working in the background.

Is Smart Security from ESET good? Are the features worth the cost?

it's alright
I'm using it for a long time now, it's really light on resources and doesn't bother you with information if you don't want it to
if you want to get it cheaper you can just buy a key at g2a

Is the added firewall better than Winows' built in one?

eh, about everything is
it'll block basically everything marked as hostile, so there's that

avira or avast, free forever and great. used avast and avira on various machines for ages.

Any AV is a data mining botnet

No, because you don't need AV unless you are baby boomer computer retarded level.
There is a reason why 90% of AV recommendations here on Sup Forums are common sense, ublock, umatrix, malwarebytes and firewall on router.
I only use AV when I install it for someone who is tech illiterate, Comodo, Avira or MSE.

LOL bait

Also AVIRA is the best I've ever used.
Very quickly,detail scanning,and free.
A pay Antivirus have many features that are not needed.
What about MSE?Nothing, precious.

Every antivirus solution on the market, free or paid, has become more invasive and privacy-violating than any virus you can get these days

Antivirus:
>scans literally everything you do
>scans every website you visit
>sends whatever the fuck to the cloud
>encourages you to use its own input option to input bank account credentials, passwords etc
>monitors your network traffic
>takes over your windows firewall settings againsts your will
>changes system settings without your input
>has to be online at all times or else it becomes outdated and starts spamming you about how the databases are 1 hour old
>some inject javascript into every website you visit, even https, and use their own certificates to possibly snoop your traffic
>literally monitors EVERYTHING you do

Virus:
>encrypts your data
>asks for ransom
or
>wipes your entire drive
or
>displays ads so whoever made it can make easy money

MSE is trash, Comodo a resource hog.

How can one stay clean then, even when you visit and download shady stuff? Explain in utmost detail please.

>noscript, umatrix etc. to prevent unwanted, malicious script execution
>any adblocking solution to remove the possibility of seeing malware-serving ads
>common sense 2017 to not download and run limp_bizkit_-_nookie.mp3.exe
>scan files on demand with malwarebytes to make sure

There, you just eliminated 99.9% of all infection vectors

Windows defender disabled+ublock origin+Common Sense™ 2017™ open beta

If you need to make a risky click use vm or old pc/laptop

>MSE is trash
Maybe, in my opinion any AV is trash, so there is that. Some people still need it though because thinking is difficult.

>Comodo a resource hog
It's the least bloated and most sane free AV I personally know (except for clamav). You can pretty much disable whatever the fuck you want and it's 100% ad free, doesn't distract you with popups and bullshit and pretty much just werks. It's what I install for people most of the time.

God exists. Prove me wrong, oh wait you can't.

Got a pretty decent deal for F-Secure.
I still use common sense even with it though.

The second part of this so much

>not having a dummy laptop setup on a different network from your main pc to test anything remotely suspicious

I use mobile hotspot on a throwaway phone as well for it and try and get cheap HDDs when i can to replace the dummy laptop with whenever things get bad on it. The setup is also the same as my pc so i have as little variables as possible

Common Sense® 2017 - Free Edition

An AV may or may not help you clean some shit off your computer. You should take measures to not get [THAT SHIT] on your machine in the first place.

Kaspersky

always gets highest ratings

Stupid ass u cant hack or nuthin I got NORTON!

What if you are installing pirated software? AVs usually scan all the files while they are installed and executed by pirated installers. You can't be 100% sure it's safe if you scan manually like an ISO.
