There isn't room for a tracker like TehC. The plebs are on trackers like IPT and PrivateHD, and the ones who are willing to put in the effort are on cabal trackers.
Torrents in general are on decline, like 70% of film piracy now happens on those shitty streaming sites that are full of pop-ups and other intrusive unsafe ads. Torrents only account for like 27% of the traffic, and Usenet the rest basically.

the torrent is split into pieces of a certain size (eg for a 1gb file people usually split into pieces that are 512kb/1mb). these parts are random and so a picture file might be in the same 'piece' as a part of a video file, your torrent client downloads the whole piece because that's what it's designed to do (some clients hide the excess files).

I disagree, been in the game for about 7 months and I've levelled up on every tracker, to at least PU (mostly Elite)
I got in at the worst time, because the PTP (or AHD) recruiter never got back to me before what closed (I was an Elite).
So now here I am, someone who would be in (one of) the cabal right now moving up. But I'm stuck at Teh. I'm sure there's a few like me with great stats but bad luck/timing. and I guess that's what Teh is for.
I honestly don't understand the hate. Their layout is great, their IMDB scraper is great. They have all the quality P2P and Scene encodes and SD releases, and so few dead torrents. Even when there is a dead torrent, you just jump on it and usually a seeder will get back on it within a day or two. Also their staff is so based, not a single power hungry faggot. Also it's got a comfy user count of 12,000, not too big, not to small.
Is PTP really that much better? Why, is it just more torrents, or also because its a bit easier to get buffer?

I was on TehC, I used TehC, then I got into PTP from TehC. I've not downloaded a single torrent from TehC after that.

TEH does get some love in this thread user, probably for many of the reasons you state. It's a decent and reputable tracker, albeit with a much smaller number of torrents than PTP. But inevitably, because it's not the best in it's niche, and not cabal, it will attract the curry memers.

Nope. HEVC cannot produce transparent encodes at the same filesize as a proper x264 equivalent. All HEVC encoders are still too immature. When x265 or another H.265 encoder becomes mature and this becomes possible (and it will) then you'll see HEVC internal encodes on HDBits, et al.
But right now you cannot produce even the SAME filesize in HEVC as an x264 encode with the SAME picture quality. It is simply not possible. Let alone less.
HDBits has said they will immediately allow it as soon as an uploader posts comparison screenshots (source||HEVC encode) and it's indicated as transparent and an x264 encode cannot do any better at that filesize.

The question is, why do you need BTN and PTP when HDB has both movies and TV? It seems like extra disk space you need to dedicate to seeding for very little benefit. If HDB doesn't have it, it's probably going to be very obscure.
