/mkg/ Mechanical Keyboard General
Has anyone bought a Ducky One with PBT caps? How nice is it?
As nice as you would expect, though I prefer the Shine 3's heavier case. Ducky make good PBT caps
Power outage
I have one ask away
Its a great keyboard and the steel plate gives it some nice weight (almost 5 pounds). The programmable macros are great and I love the sleek design. As far as the keycaps go they are some of the best I have ever tried, only thing better would be my IBM model M. There is a slight issue and that is when exposed to sun light the keycaps will bleach over time like in pic related. Its quite a common issue on Ducky keycaps as others online also report similar issues. I think its just a quality control problem since only my S key is bleached, while the dye sub PBT keycaps never had this problem despite being older. If you want my model keyboard you have to wait until the end of 2017 as they are all sold out. I got mine 6 months ago when there were only two left in stock, and the pre orders also sold out as well. If you dont live in the US then you could find them elsewere
Glad to see the new IBM circle jerk thread is up
Can't beat good old IBM's. I'd take a pic of all of mine but I've run out of floor space.
I need a windows key
I just wish they made capacitive buckling springs or an SSK
I have an SSK with capacitive buckling springs :D
Are hhkbs worth it or just a meme?
Sauce on that board, OP?
it's a powdercoated IBM Model F 107
You can buy a BTC keyboard which is essentially the same type of underlying switch mechanism for next to nothing on ebay. HHKB's are nice, but they're not worth the price.
Ah nice. I was confused for a moment; didn't think they ever made them in black, and the thought that Unicomp might have picked up the design also occurred to me.
Unfortunately not, Unicomp don't even seem capable of making a TKL version of their boards let alone capacitive buckling springs in a decent looking case.
Does the foam and foil or slider and dome feel better?
Anyone know when whitefox will be available again? Either that or a ~60% redscarf? They seem like neatest ~60% keyboards out there.
I'm pretty sure the foam and foil ones are capacitive so I'd go for that one, no idea which one feels better though.
Asked on the other thread but going to do it here too. Can anyone ID the one in the middle with a purple case?
Surely something that small and ridiculous would be custom made.
Probably a minivan.
Looks like the MiniVan, not too sure though.
filco majestouch 2 tkl + tai-hao miami pbt + red filco cable
this will be my end-game for the time being, I dont see me getting any new upgrades in the near future.
this time the correct thread.
Those caps have always looked edible to me...
you guys are in the wrong thread
This thread was created first
i just noticed the other day how my ALT key was being pressed down without me actually doing anything with it. But it fixed itself after i pressed the button again.
Is this a sign of the switch dying?
That depends what switch, if it's buckling spring the spring itself may not be seated correctly. If it's Cherry or Alps you're probably fucked with a dying switch... or it could just need a lube.
Ill do that mod someday I guess
There were a couple people curious about this $35 keyboard the past couple days. I'm typing from it now if anyone is curious about it. I really like it, first mechanical keyboard I've owned. Did a quick test in Overwatch and the blue switches seem fine for gaming too. If you're already used to membrane, you're already moving the switch more for a double press than you would be with blues anyway. Probably already a known fact, but just saying for anyone coming here for the first time wondering if they should get reds or blues. Of course it comes down to preference, I'm a sucker for anything with feedack.
I bottom the keys out while I was playing that, but it feels really nice to to just lightly tap the keys for actual typing. Still getting used to it, but I have that phase even between membrane keyboards.
What board is that
probably a Korean custom
