An OS looks as good as a user can customize its aspects to a user's subjective taste while retaining uniformity.
The base design is only good to a handful of people, and that forced cage is what inherently makes it complete shit.

It won't work because Microshit is not offering an equally competitive product. Windows 10 is a cluster fuck and becomes less usable with each cumulative update. The adoption rate is only about 300 million which is below the 1 billion estimate so they lost a shit ton of money and future ad revenue.
Lastly, many people I know have either moved on to MacOS or simply using their smartphone/tablet with Google docs to work.
Microsoft has no leverage anymore aside from the gamers who are reluctantly using Windows 7 and soon will move to either Linux or MacOS.

somehow i think pre-indian invasion microsoft was more interested in the flow and usability of the interface rather than how good it looks at idle. Most linux ricers make the desktop and windowborders pretty but don't bother trying to make the interface easier to work with because (aside from not knowing any actual programming) they never use more than a couple transparent terminal windows and web browser positioned just so they never lose sight of their wallpaper (never know when there might be a desktop thread).
of course now the pootels are in charge all flow is lost, there are two control panels for no reason and everything is 10 times more retarded than it was before thus "windows 10".
KDE breaks if you look at it funny. Cinnamon is only available in Linux Mint. Try installing it on top of Ubuntu Core and you will run into a world of pain.
Only decent implementations is Fedora and Manjaro Cinnamon which are community driven, not official.

I'm trying to get into 3d mapping, and all the shit I can do can be done easily, with massively increased stability, on a fucking Mac. A company I'm eyeing up has devs specifically begging to have their software coded for Linux, and they won't even touch Microsoft.
Google Docs is easy as shit to use aside from formatting specifics, Slides is great as long as you know how to keep the information simple. I don't even play games and I'm getting sick of 7 largely due to shitty updates and a change in the format.

Not even DX12, the great meme buzzword, is an excuse.
The only graphs showing positive DX12 influence come from unfinished and unstable games in their beta period (case in point Hitman, which also happens to be among the biggest failures in the past year) where getting good or bad graphs is easy due to unstable code.
Anyone with a brain however will know that it will take a decade for game developers to build and re-build engines to actually take advantage of DX12, by which time almost all contemporary released gaymes will already be on Linux or MacOS thanks to Steam and GoG, and other 3rd parties doing conversion and helping devs.
Even if some legendary devs appear who manage to do it for Windows 10 exclusively, a whole 3 or 4 gaymes are not worth it to move to that shit.
I'm already eyeing getting some Linux Distro in the future and dual-booting Windows 7 (pre-late 2016 releases devoid of analytics crap) for old gaymes, completely sandboxed except for online play.

I wouldn't be surprised if the last desperate way to save 10 is just for other companies (AyyMD is the biggest culprit that comes to mind) to only be compatible with 10 in future hardware/software.
My favorite fucking issue I've ever seen with Windows 10 was an attempt at my university to upgrade our digital arts center from 7. They upgraded a few PCs, and things were mostly fine until they discovered that NONE of the Windows 10 PCs could connect to our render farm. Which basically means NOTHING created in After Effects or any 3D software could be completed.
Nobody has any idea why this happens, and nobody's even trying to fix it because fuck it.
Our own fucking standard PCs had an entire day of being offline just because the login screen hung due to a bad KB.
It eventually got fixed, but nobody could log in during the first week of classes.
Fuck Windows 10 and fuck anybody who thinks it's the saving grace of operating systems.
