Xbox

This is semi-tech related. Anyone here ever modded an Xbox?
This dudes video makes it seem like it is very complicated.

Yes. Hardmod > softmod

unleashx, action replay, and splinter cell. ezpz.

>fat neet in his parents' house
>thumbnail is some random slut
>modding a 15 year old console

I remember the scene and how XBMC came out of this... :'( what has the world come to...

And yet TSOP is better than both of them.

You don't even need action replay, just a usb to xbox adapter cable and a small flash drive. Make sure it's connected before the xbox boots and it'll format it as FATX. Then use a windows program to stick the required files on there.

take an old xbox controller if your cheap then cut up the wire to then rig it to usb, download action replays software, copy files to mem card and then use the splinter cell save exploit and boom your done

Head over to the ISO zone, tons of tutorials and all the software you need

I made some neat mods in Halo 2 back when I knew jack shit about computers so it's definitely not that complicated.

That guy is literally an autist

How do people still look like neckbeards in 2016 with all of the neckbeard shaming is beyond me.

Oh man, I remember my old modded Xbox. Xecutor3 chip and a crystal case. A 250gb hard drive back when that was "impressive". Easy as shit to install if you've ever soldered anything save the d0 wire, that thing was always a pain in the ass.

I Still have mine XBMC with a 120Gb HDD all my friends thought this was some next level hazor shit

XMBC was the shit.

I remember getting my dad to put a little travel TV in the back of his Suburban when he went to the grocery store, I'd walk down to the Blockbuster, rent a game (on their Netflix-esque one at a time for as long as you like service), download it to the HDD in the back of the Suburban, then go get another one. Got like 10 games. Blockbuster people didn't give a damn. Oh the nostalgia.

Modded mine about a month ago with the ndure hotswap method. Ftping games is pretty cool desu

It's 2017 user and actual autists probably aren't aware that they look like an autist.

Check out coinops as well for sweet sweet retro action

>2017
...
I keep forgetting, it will probably take me months to learn the year

yea, i've modded lots of xboxes

at one point i had a friend who would find people who wanted them modded, and he'd bring them to me to mod

i've installed modchips on request, but most of them were softmods

the basic process i used was;
- boot the console with the dvd drive disconnected to intentionally cause the console to "green screen" (get stuck on an error)
- at the same time, boot up a pc partially (pause POST just before disk detection)
- disconnect the ide cable from the hdd in the xbox, then attach it to the computer
- continue booting the computer into xboxhdm
- use xboxhdm to install the softmod (ndure, i think it was called), as well as replace the dashboard (XBMC, usually)
- once done, run a tool on the xbox to backup the EEPROM
- optionally, flash the Xecuter BIOS onto the xbox (using a homebrew program), this allows for some things a softmod can't do, requires a

Do you know where one can get the X3 chip. Ebay is empty.

does anyone actually like looking like a neckbeard?

no idea, i've only installed provided modchips, and this was years ago

-- also, you can flash the Xecutor bios onto the xbox if it's

Yea I have modded them before, your gonna need a memory card or USB with the files and Splinter Cell.

I feel like getting an original xbox and doing it again, I sadly sold my memory cards.

the memory cards are just standard 8M usb flash drives

I guess so. Also some USBs don't work, whenever I do it is gonna be with a USB. I just need to find one that would work, I am thinking about getting a chink one, maybe 1 or 2GB.

I have done a softmode and hardmode on my xbox 6560

It may be 15 years old but it can play more videos than Xbox One and PS4

Fuck I didn't know the green screen had the disk unlocked, I remember having to hotswap the ribbon cable at a certain point during xbox bootup to catch it between locks and it was a pain in the ass. I only ever had to do that when people would intentionally do the thing I specifically said not to do which was delete the system files.

With a modchip you can just throw in a stock HDD lock it and remove the chip if you want a chipless xbox.

only some green screens (or rather, error codes) keep the hdd unlocked, unplugging the dvd drive is an easy one

since xbox live is dead, there's no reason to have to avoid softmods or use a stock bios anymore

OP go here if you want a modchip gocybershopping.com/home.php?cat=220

I used to mod xboxs.

afaik you took out 5 longish screws, soldered a jumper, then used a save game exploit to crash the system and load Linux, then you used tftp to send modded firmware.

After that you boot a custom dashboard xbmc or whatever and it had an install to hdd option.

>the most modified console ever
>people turned it into a home theater media center
>decade later XBMC becomes KODI and still exists
>Still no emulator for it
>mfw

xbox has no gaems

nice pussy

>Still no emulator for it
There's a lot of undocumented, proprietary hardware in the Xbox.

There's also a lot of leaked source code and docs about the system
I guess most emu devs don't want to touch it though, which is a shame really since the Xbox is pretty much fully documented with it

>This is semi-tech related
no it is not, go back to

>giving into reddit pressure and calling things you don't like memes

stay demasculated

Where can one find those docs?

Can you post that somewhere? I want it for archival purposes.

IIRC there was a thread on betaarchive (search for xboxkrnl) with links to it, but that was just for the kernel src IIRC, not sure if the docs were included with it

Would you be willing to share it? The source seems to have been pulled from where it was hosted and I'm not sure where to look for the spec docs.

Put it up on TPB so I can seed it until the end of times

That's asking for trouble. Something like uguu.se would be ideal for user. Temporary hosting with no logs.

Hmm think I still got the pack that leaked on BA somewhere, I could up that with some of the docs if you'd like

Heh pretty sure I'd be v& pretty quick if I did that.
This pack doesn't really need people to seed or keep it alive or anything though, it's being hosted on BA's FTP so it should be pretty safe

Anyway yeah gimme a min and I'll link you guys

Never mind they apparently block zip and rar files now.

Thanks user, I'd appreciate having something like this just in case since it's apparently elusive. I hate when things like this disappear forever. I've wanted BA ftp access for a while just so I could personally mirror some content, but unfortunately I don't have anything to contribute to gain access.

>I've wanted BA ftp access for a while just so I could personally mirror some content, but unfortunately I don't have anything to contribute to gain access.
Sucks, I was never a fan of their new contribution rules, mostly because they have so much already and its way too hard for people to find new things for them
I was lucky and got in before they changed them, but now if I wanted to join today I'd probs need to work somewhere and leak things to get in, hardly the public FTP it used to be...

Anyway here's the BA source pack:
www112.zippyshare.com/v/baNXwUJE/file.html
And some of the docs that aren't included in there:
www77.zippyshare.com/v/XZZ069ka/file.html

Since those docs aren't on BA maybe you could try using them to get in? Doubtful though since they're real strict about contributions now

Also apparently some of the files in that pack aren't original, someone posted originals here: mega.nz/#!zR8RHIQR!COKLbkk1rGXAtF8yHKRa6Ouzv5kBFRF6tAQQAFIQPFo

Thanks boss. Will be mirrored for posterity in some arbitrary point in the future.
