I recently read the Steve Jobs biography. This combined with an increasing paranoia about "being the product" has made me desire a shift to the Apple ecosystem.

I just ordered a 15" MacBook pro which will be used as my main device from its delivery forward. I appreciate Sup Forums raising concerns about privacy when the rest of the world could seem to care less.

My only reservations is buying one, being at a work in a meeting or a presentation and forgetting a dongle and being totally fucked when I need to plug into a projector or when someone hands me a USB stick. It s serious concern and could loose me my job or a contract for my company just because apple was "brave" in 2016 and threw out the ports I need for every day use.

I don't have much use for a laptop, I'm in no hurry to drop almost $2k on something I'll only use here and there. I've got better places for my money to go.

I've been using Windows convertibles for years; pen's a plus but is definitely not necessary. Besides, I won't be running Windows for the most part.

Coil whine, or whatever you call the noise the power jack makes when there's video playing, is the only actual problem, and it goes away after a few minutes. Wish they'd fix it though, it's not like Dell doesn't understand how electricity works.

Late 2013 reporting in. Everything is going well, but not for long I fear. This king about selling before it's too late.

I make music as a hobby and have worked with both Mac and PC. PC is superior. The whole "Mac is better for making music/editing video/editing images" is a meme unless the person in question's favourite software for each of those purposes only exists on Mac (Logic X, Final Cut Pro, etc).

I use a surface pro 4. Didn't care for it at first but I learned it's ways. It does everything I need it to. Also you can use whatever keyboard and mouse you want with it if you don't feel like using the type cover (which is the best chicklet keyboard I've ever used by the way)

I need to jump through hoops to get what I need for school and work on a Mac. As much as I love the build quality and sexy looking OS it's just not practical with that price tag. That and the touch bar is fucking retarded and they made the keyboard worse.

The Surface 4 Type Cover looks pretty shitty at a glance, but holy fuck it's a lot better than most dedicated keyboards on actual laptops. The keys have this very metallic feeling click to them, and the travel isn't too bad either.

That's how I felt exactly. It's damn comfy, and the natural slant and give in the board makes it unique. Trackpad is only second to apple IMO. The only downside is that unless you like being uncomfortable you need a large surface to use the surface. It can't be used well in your lap, but when I'm trying to get work done I'm usually in a place that has a table... I got a dock for Christmas and I'm going to pick up some monitors for it as soon as I build my new desk this weekend. Stoked.
