>AyylMao'D beating Incel
They'll get close in terms of performances, but they won't get past the performance of the latest I7s
you mean 2 days until AMD returns to some semblence of competency and competitiveness. there is absolutely zero chance of AMD beating intel on performance or perf/w.
>things that never happened: the post
If they come close enough with few percentages, this is as good as buy.
I don't need to pay extra 50-100% tax for marginal increase in performance.
...
I think you're being way too optimistic
I do however think those parts will perform great for their price.
Reminder to report the shitty false flagging before it gets too extreme.
Reminder that Zen might be good going by AMD's demos.
Reminder than 4c will be $200, 6c will be $300, and 8 cores will be $500.
Reminder that the Vega hype is real going by pic related. They have Nvidia's drawing technology that made Maxwell so efficient, they have HBM2, and they have new NCUs. They essentially have all that Volta should have right now.
I mostly care about performance per dollar.
If that pricing is real Zen is DOA.
Nigga what. 8c Zen is expected to perform in the realm of a $1000+ Intel counterpart, the 6900k. How is that DOA?
>exactly the same kind of retarded shitposting as on Sup Forums
AMD/Nvidia/Intel war threads confirmed for Sup Forumsermin bait.
>corporate cheerleading
when will the AMD propagandists leave?
tl;dr side mentality is cancer
That's because that Intel chip is overpriced. If you think AMD should charge a price premium because they can tickle Intel's balls in performance while having less than 10% market share, no retail/OEM control and aren't an established brand then kissyourself my man. They'll have to undercut in prices alot.
it's 499$ for the black edition 8c and 349$ for non black
Source, your ass.
Pretty high for none US markets, goy.
Remember a year ago just before the release of the fury x?
Nvidia's gonna fuck over every 1080 owner by panic-pricing the 1080 Ti at $650?
It was terrible. Not only was the release completely fucked over by Nvidia releasing the 980Ti, they lied about it OCing well and released shit benches. Hopefully they have learned their lesson by now. I'd like to see HBM2 on consumers, Pascal has been a massive disappointment. The only decent buy is the 1060 and that has already aged like milk.
Agree, and I have low expectations for it to all go well.
i have a 390X and I had to go back to using the last catalyst driver version because in the Crimson/ Relive drivers there's no way to adjust hue/saturation/etc. anymore.
They just fucking took it out.
Fuck AMD they can't remove standard features like that.
>Pascal has been a massive disappointment
980ti performance at mid range prices and 960 power usage is a massive disapointment?
I'd say the 1070 is a pretty great card.
As for AMD, I'm not setting the bar that high for them again, I just hope they release a decent graphics cards that can compete with the 1080 at a lower price point.
I think they made it to look HDR displays more compelling to purchase. Don't forget theu also disabled Asynchronous Shaders cos of a 'bug'. I will give them time until summer to fix all that otherwise imma go with the other lower proced jew.
Going by AMDs demos, everything they make is the best thing ever.
Then comes reality.
>980ti performance in mid-range prices
>mid-range prices
It's their own stupid fault for trusting marketing pictures and overhyping shit.
Remember how the 480 would be 980ti level? kek
I can get a new 1070 for 430 euro's, and the cards also pushed prices on used 980ti's down to 300-350 euro area.
Is that not cheap enough for you?
>Zen offering 10x the power of an i7 at $150
>violating the laws of physics
Okay.
I don't know if this is some advance shitposting. Nobody with half a brain believed the leaked slides. There were so many jokes after that it's impossible to be have taken seriously.
If you saw the threads it was filled with people who believed it
>Zen offering 10x the power of an i7 at $150
this has to be a psy op
intel is trying to overhype the shit out of zen so that they can shitpost about it twice as hard when it fails to meet the unrealistic expectations they set up
InGaAs or graphene fucking when?
4 small GPUs in a MCM fucking when?
>They essentially have all that Volta should have right now.
>Volta
Hasn't even been released yet...
mid range is 600 to 800 bucks USD for the entire build
that's the "max everything at 1080p" sweet spot and it's been that way for a while. I mean the 560 Ti was the midrange king back in its day and the most expensive AIBs were like 300 bucks at worst.
I don't know why Sup Forums is growing so fucking hysterical about hardware. I guess Intel and Nvidia succeeded in pushing 400$ GPUs as the new "midrange" so they could hawk more thousand dollar shit
Never. Sorry.
Volta should have async and HBM2. Pascal didn't even exist back then.
No. It's in no way "cheap". Even for me. If you can afford and see it as justifying a price you pay, doesn't mean the rest of consumers do so as well. Go take a look of discrete GPU owners share, most are ""garbage"" tier, cheap, low performance buyers.
>tfw just bought a 1440p G-Sync monitor
Hopefully Vega is trash so I can feel justified in my purchase
You poor goy.
Fact of the matter is, Pascal brought 980ti level down by almost halving it, and that is an impressive feat.
>8c for 50% of the price of Intel's 8c with 90% of the performance
What the fuck do you think undercutting them by a lot is? 85%? 90%?
You're just an intel fanboy that's mad AMD is going to be competing at a high level after being awful for years.
Yep. The 480 was belived to be a card sitting between the 1060 and 1070 at a 1060 price. It was overhyped and a bit underdelivered.
A lot of people expected the fixes that are going to be in Vega to be in Polaris, but Polaris ended up being a stop-gap compromise between the two. Better back end with the same front end.
Most of the hardware goes under-utilized much like the rest of GCN.
Compared to when GPU performance actually advanced it isn't impressive.
yeah basically same here
They don't need to if they can undercut the price.
Got a 970 on launch for muh price/ performance.
>3.5'd
>Specs inaccurate
>Async emulation
>KVM state detection
God have mercy on those who paid for premium performance and get shit on.
Too expensive.
>>KVM state detection
OOoooh, do tell me this tale!
That's not midrage price dumbass.
>mfw buying a 970 at October 2015 for $210 after selling the game and the shitty $30 apology
Not a bad buy to be quite frankly honest considering I'm on Linux. I sure wish AMD wasn't in this shitty state of open and closed inferno, maybe then will their drivers will improve here. At least their open drivers completely shit on Nvidia's open drivers.
Have to perform some song and dance, increasing VM CPU overhead to pass a physical card to a VM because the card isn't Quadroâ„¢ certified.
Going AMD to counter this.
They have their own set of issues but none to intentionally cripple my usage.
AMD's open source drivers are frankly in a fantastic state at the moment, but it's gonna be a while before they excise all their abstraction layer garbage in the code and get mainlined into the kernel.
At some point OGL drivers will be fully userspace components written against Vulkan anyway, so freefags can finally shut up about closed kernel blobs.
are they still aiming for that? as far as I know it's a stalemate situation. maintainers don't want to merge a fuckhuge HAL that makes their job permanently harder and AMD doesn't want to maintain a separate code base for a 2% market share OS.
there's absolutely nothing wrong with AMD's userland driver shipping separately from the kernel.
AMD isn't just competing with the 6900k here. They're also competing with Intels' previous generations going as far back as Sandy Bridge.
They need to be price competitive against all those generations and offer customers looking to upgrade a better deal than Intel's offering, especially as their reputation has been hurting for the past couple years. I'm no market analyst, but the more compelling their offering, the easier it'll be for them to build their marketshare and reputation (in the consumer market) back up.
During the presentation they mentioned 2 of Intel's on market processors, the i7 6900k and the i7 6700k. If they want to really shake up the market, then their best bet would be directly competing with the 6700k by offering similar performance at a lower price or higher performance at the same price.
Of course, this may be just wishful thinking on my part. I just hope for the best possible news.
>at $150
sauce?
There was some minor mailing list drama, but it was more or less resolved as the AMD guys saying they weren't dumping a "take it or leave it" source set on the maintainers and were working to continue minimizing the HAL.
I'd gamble that there will end up being a substantially smaller but still existent HAL that slides in, keeping everyone's ego intact and actually helping Linux moving forwards towards credible claims at caring about desktop usage.
he is probably joking the price speculation is 500 USD.
is it to dumb to get a RX 470 now or is AMD just pushing the high end cards?
They hinted that their top 8 core chip would directly compete with the 6700k back at their New horizon event when Zen was mateched againts a 6700k in DotA 2. So 300-325 max is my geuss considering:
Vega looks like a whole new lineup. I'd wait a bit.
just high end, they will maybe do a refresh of polaris in summer to 475/485
Just the high end
Vega is a new arch, r-right?
Goooo Patriots!!!!
If NCU really is GNC's successor then yes. AMD will then launch a new line of cards.
You're confused. Vega is 4th gen GCN family.
NCU is just marketing speak for "we finally did something to the CU"
>Red roosters fawning over the latests lies
Close enough. I just want to upgrade from my FX-6300 god help me
Polaris is 4th Gen GCN. NCU will most likely be more than that.
Yes, the two Polaris dies are also part of the 4th gen GCN family. Generations are based on ISA features, not specific IP implementation. Vega is still 4th gen.
Point being that it is very much still a GCN arch.
>People excited for more shit products
>Poorfags and poojeets shilling ayyamd kekzen this hard
Kek stay mad, kaby lake is btfo-ing your poocessor
From the rumors I've seen I believe that there's credibility to the assumptions it's a new arch.
The presentation that will start in about 20 hours from will most likely reveal at least this much, so we'll know soon.
It didn't even scratch Skylake. ;-]
For you shitposters, Kabylake is to Skylake what 4790k was to 4770k.
Thing is. All they have to do is stay competitive against i5 in single threaded performance while offering hyperthreating. i5 literally isn't enough because AAA games start using ht which is hidden behind Intel tax. I've been dropping frames in GTA 5, Watchdogs 2, Witcher 3. My next update will have ht, period.
We will see, if the final zen chip consumes 95w in a torture test then they beat intel by 40-50%.
not their top 8 core, their base 8 core.
there are also 2 skus lower then base which look to be the 6 and 4 core, and one rumored above base that is rumored to be 500$ but everyone who hates amd is saying that's the minimum.
Personally, I think the 350$ range sounds plausible due to the die shrink, size of the die, and what features it does not have, They can not compete price for price with intel, but they can compete performance with intel in many areas.
Intel has had their dick in so many peoples asses for so long they cant fathom cpus should be far cheaper then they are.
intels latest depending on bench went backwards.
>Zen offering 10x the power of an i7 at $150
Do AMD fags actually believe this?
nvidia priced it at 650 because they saw the papers of the fury x and got scared, so price match a titan to it, amd failed to deliver due to the process falling out and needing to move from what should have been 20 to 28.
this time, it looks like amd has new architecture, definitely anticipating something big seeing what the 5000 and 7000 did compared to nvidia, hell, amd may actually be competing with volta.
no
shills pretending to be AMD fans do
Maybe he forgot that AMD shills are also extremely poor and build $300 computers. Her was talking mid range for employed people.
gpu prices have been getting out of hand recently. I fully blame the titan for makeing a 1000$ consumer gpu ok.
I just bought a i5 6600k and a 1070 to replace my 5 year old AMD PC.
No Regrats. Buying on release is dumb.
just a reminder that intel has been raping your mouth with prices for a VERY long time, and now people are starting to say they like it. there are enough downsides to amd's cpu that it could never demand intel 6 core prices at bese clocks unless they kept literally everything so tight under wraps that they did something that changes everything.
amd going for 150 250 and 350 with base models of 4 6 and 8 core respectively seems plausible, their marketing around the 8 core makes it seems 300-400 is the range, and if they do do a black edition, 500 seems reasonable if its really the higher/highest binned chips.
amd starting at 500$, that is just fuckin retarded because you could just go get an intel 6 core and motherboard for that price, and have great performance and in 20% of the loads (amd is going for 80% parity) far exceeding amd. you are also on a more guaranteed process that will deliver a 4.2/4.3 across all core clock rate.
amd didn't over hype, someone got golden silicon and posted results.
there was reasonable hype for a while, but then nvidiots took over and bastardised everything, and when it didn't perform to their retarded ship posting, they called it a failure.
and it currently does with the top binned cards, xfx gtr are top binned polaris cards and they do sit in that between 1060 and 1070 range, close to the 1060 sure but still in that range.
remember, consumers were fucked as amd never released top binned polaris to the public.
navi possibly
I'm very aroused thinking of 1-4 chip configurations. Why is 2018 so far away?
...
Probably gonna be jumping ship soon, Nvidia is clearly pulling an apple.
>980ti Is now considered a "MidRangeCard"
>>Zen offering 10x the power of an i7 at $150
What?
