ThinkPad T420.
Cheap, easily serviceable, plenty of parts everywhere, easily upgradeable and the docking station is based as fug.

Also no gay "muh thin" memes.

xmas gift

Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013
Beautiful, portable, good keyboard, ages quite well and it has Mac OS.

Asus with i7 and GT635m.

Needed a new laptop and I was moving overseas for a year. Seemed a waste to ship my desktop. 2 years later still here. Regret not getting a cheapy laptop and shipping my desktop. Not really enough space for it though.

Enjoy your house fire.

Enjoy your broken hinge.

Plan to buy an Thomson NEO14 (2BK32)

another T420 Owner
Tanky as fck,i love rugged design not gay shit, easy to replace, because it's meme

Literally zero problems.

>T420
>not T430 master race

x220 with 9-cell, 8gb DDR3 and 256gb 850 pro here
this thing flies

Not literally though because it weighs 4.5KG

HP Elitebook 9470m.

Used one for work, loved the shit out of it, went and bought one.

Sure shill.

How does it compare to elitebook 8470p?

Thinking of buying one.

I bought a r51, it arrives on Monday.
I have an Asus and a thinkpad 360, but doesnt work.

ladies and gentlemen: miranda, the only elitebook user on Sup Forums

shit yeah I own a laptop, been using laptops as main machine since early 2000's, desktops are for gaymers

Thinkpad W520
I needed something more powerful than the core 2 duo one I had before

>that keyboard layout

i5 babby lake xps 13 with 8gb ram and 512 ssd

good stuff bois

I change a laptop roughly every 3 years...
They often break right after the warranty ends.

2007 acer asspire
2010 fujitsu something
2013 HP Pavilion
2016 HP something

>r51
Why though?
>Pentium M
>no rollcage

Had one of them as well till the mainboard shat the bed. It has a few things over the 9470. You could go buy a cheap i3 8460 and throw an i7 in, but the 9470? You're stuck with whats soldered to the motherboard. It's also got a drive bay for a second HDD if you choose. Having said that the 9470 has an mSATA slot, but 2.5" drives are always cheaper per gigabyte than mSATA, so that's a consideration as well. Tonnes lighter than the 8460, equal battery life, bigger screen resolution and the chassis feels just as solid and flex free as the 8460. Lid is a touch flimsy compared to the 8460 but that can be said of all thin laptops nowdays, and lets face it, they 84xx series were just tanks anyway.

It's a solid evolution from the 8460 though. If you want upgradability go for the 84xx series, otherwise if you have the coin to spend on a spec'd out (processor) 9470 jump on it.

The fuck you talking about son?

>shit keyboard for no performance gain

uhhh user, you fucked up.

T420 was always better than the T430, the only the the T430 added was a bump to ivy bridge, which nets ~5% performnace gains, which for a 5+ year old laptop, doesn't matter anyway because both are underpowered in 2017.

pic related, my T420 dankpad.

>buying consumer trash
You moron.

>They often break right after the warranty ends.
> acer
> pavillion
> fujitsu

Stop buying shit tier laptops faggot. You get what you pay for.

Thanks user.
Love you!

I bought a MBP 2016 13" w/o touchbar.

Why?
I had a zenbook before. I wanted a device that can outperform my zenbook in performance and batterylife while maintaining as thin and small as possible.
I also didn't want to by a plastic one because I liked the brushed aluminum on the zenbook.

The MBP 13" 2016 was a logical step.
BUT
I can't install Linux on it yet due to lack of drivers

Glad to help, happy hunting.

Surface pro 4
Got it on black friday and it looked amazing.

By the way it is

Idk man, i always want a thinkpad, and idk why, but i love old things, especially computers. I know its not to old like thinkpad 360.
And it was very cheap.
Plus, i can use ram, hdd and i think the disquete display of the thinkpad 360.

Late 2011 15" MBP
Got it refurbished for $700 two years ago
Threw a 500GB 850 Evo in it and it goes fast
Got it because it's a MBP (OS X for iOS development and build quality)

Asus r150dp
Got it on 2013 for $500, main attractions were SD card slot, cd drive bay, vga, and lots of i/o aswell as a dedicated gpu at an affordable price.

Games doesn't run aswell as a thought, it still runs pretty well and I get a few hours battery which is fine enough for me. Probably would've gotten one without dedicated gpu if I could go back though. Maybe a ThinkPad or something, but it still serves me pretty well.

Thinkpad T420. Just got it a couple days ago. For a 4-5 year old labtop, it's running like it's brand new.

>SD card slot, cd drive bay, vga, and lots of i/o
How are these something special?

1.8kg actually but nice try

e6430 because they who was selling me a t420 kept cancelling

Because most laptops have fuck all I/O nowdays? Much less a VGA port.

I have 2. The first is a Inspiron 17r SE that I received as a gift. It's actually pretty damn good for what it is. Upgraded to ssd and 16gb ram. It stays hooked to my TV and is used as a media center/occasional gaming system. The other I own is an x220. I travel a lot and that thing is absolutely perfect for on the go. Plus it has the comfiest keyboard I've ever used on a laptop

Got this beast in silver. Amazing specs, build quality, design and capabilities. Best laptop to come out of 2016

Glorious HP nx9420 black brick.

Name of the ESR meter program? :^)

If one cannot be found by it, can one truly be said to have a name?

how does the keyboard feel like

I have an older one I don't use anymore. I got it for school mostly, can't take my desktop with me everywhere. But I've since graduated and don't really need it as much anymore.

I do currently have an HP Elitebook that work gave me. I usually leave it on it's dock at the office but I occasionally take it places with me. Usually only if I need to work. If I go on vacation or something though, I'll just bring my tablet. It works well enough for my needs, and if I need to do something on an actual computer the little SSL remote app I have on my tablet to get into my desktop works for what I'd need.

Hi hello! You misquoted me user, give me a (You) in compensation.

T30 (WIP)
T60 (operational)
X220 (operational)
Getac S400 (my #1 choice and I carry this brick every where)
Dell Latitude 3340
Toshiba T3100 (if you can count that as "laptop", as if mobile pc system)

>which one
>one

Awww...that's so cute.

Imagine a giant penis flying towards your mouth, and there's nothing you can do about it. And you're like "Oh man, I'm gonna have to suck this thing", and you brace yourself to suck this giant penis. But then, at the last moment, it changes trajectory and hits you in the eye. You think to yourself "Well, at least I got that out of the way", but then the giant penis rears back and stabs your eye again, and again, and again. Eventually, this giant penis is penetrating your gray matter, and you begin to lose control of your motor skills. That's when the giant penis slaps you across the cheek, causing you to fall out of your chair. Unable to move and at your most vulnerable, the giant penis finally lodges itself in your anus, where it rests uncomfortably for 4, maybe 5 hours. That's what using a T430 keyboard is like.

I made the mistake of buying a Lenovo Y70-50 without trying it first.

Terrible keyboard, terrible touchpad, terrible screen. It must be the worst screen I have ever seen.

i have a shitty HP laptop that overheats when doing most things. i use it as a kodi box and it luckily doesn't overheat doing that.

2015 MacBook Pro with 15" retina display, I like the build quality, performance, and I prefer macOS to Windows, which I dual boot. It's the only Apple product I own.

I would never have bought it though if I didn't get it for significantly less than it costs at retail.

They kept this same design for the P252X series in 2015

I used to own a Schenker XMG A501 with a Nvidia 555M GT like 7 years ago because I was on the move a lot.
Now I have a good PC and gave the laptop away.

Got a yoga book instead for browsing anonymous imageboards and reading comics.

gimmickbook

How many hours do you get?

>GS70
>muh gayms
>light for its size

Thinkpad t410.
A mate of mine told me about the wonders of used thinkpads and recommended a t410. So far I'm happy with it.

I'm about to buy a new one and choosing between ASUS K501UX and some HP Pavilion 15-*108 with IPS screen and little less performance. Also thought about spend a little more and buy ASUS GL552VW with excellent performance and IPS screen but I don't know if it's worth it.

>height sensor
what did they mean by this?

Why is the x220 so expensive on ebay

supply and demand i guess
also price-gouging faggots for that reason

Toshiba sattelite radius 12 with added muh 4k meme

bought because keyboard was pretty good, also had an i7 and could last whole day if went into power saver and battery saver in win 10, and was still quick

So,the only good portable laptops that one can get for an affordable price are gone now.

mabye, I got my for $550 because refurbished

but yeah portability costs a pretty penny if you couple that with decent power

it's fine, could've been bit a bit more tactile but hasn't annoyed me yet

I own a ThinkPad T520. Its price, power, and trackpoint made me buy it.

Thinkpad T420.
Memes.

HP spextrex360 got it for school and it's just amazing the display is nice and it also has a touchscreen

Asus ux32vd here, bought the badboy used for a good price.
It was like 400 burgers for me, but they were selling around a thousand still.
The maxed out version with the i7 and 620m. It's fast, looks nice alright, etc. Going to need a ram upgrade soon.
The 24 gig issd is enough for me because I got my /home plus a basic win10 install on the hdd and still got like a 100 gigs left.

No ports Macbook 2015.
Screen (upgraded from Air mostly for that), trackpad, battery life, size/weight, OSX, no fans, the speakers (although I didn't expect them to be so good) also holy shit it's so pretty.

Only thing I am missing would be some 2 in 1 option to use the screen as a tablet for drawing (kinda like surfacebook)

>person likes thing i dont like, so he must be a shill

i fucking hate this website

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention that the battery is shit. It started to inflate and pushed out the touchpad. I openned it and removed the cell that was looking like it would explode any minute. I always use it plugged in anyways.
>Still has 50 minutes of battery life tb.h

I have one too, what model do you have?

Disgusting

>bought for $450 refurb in 2012
>put SSD in drive bay and HDD in optical bay
>upgraded to A10-4600m from eBay for $15
>added 16GB RAM kit for $40
For the money, it's a nice computer.

Noice dude.

Where did you get the 16GB kit for 40 bucks? I take it it's 2x8GB DDR3?

12-13 hours on linux with half brightness and radios on
8-9 hours on windows with half brightness and radios on
goes up to 15 hours on linux with lowest brightness and radios turned off

I lucked out hard on the battery though.

Are this the actual hours or just projected shit?

I got it in August, but it looks like most prices have doubled since then.

Thanks, trying to find a sweet deal, don't actually need it.

Obviously its how long it lasts, but just sitting there and idling.

The battery is a huge cancerous growth also, I don't know why you would trade it for slightly lighter and smaller machine with 7-8hrs of battery life, unless he literally goes camping and takes his laptop with him and has no solar panel.

Inspiron 5378
Memes, porn, some development
Got it from Dell's outlet on a sale, i7 7500u, 16gb ddr4, 256gb ssd for $450 seemed like a very good deal.
It's pretty comfy and fast, battery life ain't great but I use it plugged in most of the time.

I'm rocking a T400. I bought it because it was rugged, it had a good keyboard and it was in fantastic condition.

msi.com/Laptop/GP72-6QF-Leopard-Pro.html

Because it was on sale at the time, no regrets though. Fucking beast.

Lenovo e570
45% off

Funny to mention that in contrast, top i7 of x220 and x230 are faster/equal in performance to x260 best CPU, but the power management and GPU performance is a different story. Using x220 for game development here.

>no performance gain
ACKCHUALY Ivy Bridge's iGPU is a good amount better than what you get on Sandy.
As I recall, the dGPU in the 30 series was also stepped up to something that performs, you know, better than the iGPU.
As such, 30 series thinkpads do offer a performance gain over 20 series, especially if you need a GPU for any reason.

Also you can slap a 20 series keyboard in 30 series laptops, so kind of a moot point there.

All of those are moderate usage(usually writing code/debugging or browsing Sup Forums). If you watch lots of videos, half each duration. If you play games, 1/4.

x201 i7

Well there's a pasta I haven't seen in a long fucking time

The envy line is one of the few that are actually decent from HP

I saw one of those yesterday at a store, it's a pretty machine but it must be atrocious to use.

Asus tf100 hybrid
Thinkpad 11e(no trackpoint or touch screen)
Acer aspire one 522.

The Asus and Thinkpad are essentially mint and new. I bought the Asus when I thought the Acer was dead, but I was able to repair it, and limp it through another 3+ years. Bought the 11e for brother, but after he saw it he said he'd prefer my much older t61, so I upgraded that and gave it to him, and kept the 11e.

Can't feel like I should use them when my acer still works and is so worn down.(keyboard is all glossy from so many keystrokes)

A consumer model Lenovo (not a ThinkPad.) Chosen based on brand recognition and availability.

2015 macbook pro
it runs osx

Chink shit

I've a few, ask me anything

A) You obviously smoke like a chimney. Not a question, just trying to Really Make You Think about your health.
B) What's with the missing keycaps?
C) What are specs of them all?

>Do you own a laptop?
Yes
>Which one and what made you buy it?
It's an AsusK501UX, because I needed one for school. Entry level gaming laptop back when it came out.
Only videogame I play these days is Killing Floor and only IF there are people playing.
Bought a refurbished one for 600 bucks.
