It depends

forgot to type 'RAW'

It literally doesn't matter. People just like to have catfights over everything

jpg is mp3 and png is flac

I wish more of the features of Jpeg were supported (12 bit depth, etc).

Right now everyone just uses a minimal baseline set of features.

JPEG 2000

How long until arithmetic coding support gets turned on?

fuck off

Depends. Whats your use case?

t. fuckwit

JPEG 2000 was a mistake. BPG is the true next generation lossy image format.

BPG is a joke that is the laughingstock of the compression community. (Same with FLIF and other piece of shit memes people like to push)

for what purpose?

lol you think he knows?

he's just baiting us.

you want colors?
.bmp
you want details and quality?
jpeg 2000
you want soft pics?
.png

reminds me of that gaming RAM guide

...

I thought bmp was good for quality

This is the troll version, the real version has JPG and PNG flipped

bmp is pretty good for quality but ppm or raw is even better

(Remember kids, the higher the bitrate, the better it sounds/looks)

AV1 will destroy HEVC/BPG for lossy still image

PNG is best for lossless

>FFv1 is best for lossless
ftfy

jpg usualy better for photos or pics with high variaty of colours, details
png better for pc made graphics, charts, alpha containing stuff etc

>tfw some fag uses PNG for media player screenshots

jpng
