There's going to be a 1080ti. It will be just about as powerful as the titan while costing a whole lot less. Is it worth it to wait when the 1080 is better performance per dollar? How much are you willing to spend on the ti brand? If your pc sucks dick and games are unplayable get a 1080 now. Just make sure you at least have a 1440p monitor with at least 100hz refresh rate. Otherwise just get an rx480

g-sync has caused bloat in the monitor market with never dropping prices and the nned for a $150 module. freesync does 90%+ of what g-sync does at near zero cost.

the ti this round is significantly cut titan, not slightly like last time, it should be halfway between 1080 and titan.

I really hope amd is just waiting for the 1080ti to happen, so they can push big vega right after, kinf of a reverse of what happened with 980ti and fury.

vega looks like it could either be a new core architecture, or they implemented what made maxwell so efficient.

if its new core, look at the 4870 and how it crushed nvidia at a VASTLY cheaper price, and then the 5000 that refined it and was still cheaper. then the 7000 line that again beat nvidia's at the time and went toe to toe with the next lineup till the 780ti, and over time still came out on top in many cases.

amd has a VERY good track record with new architectures on the gpu front.

so many of nvidia's practices year over year, cululateing in the need to use vista for a feature I wanted was my last straw. amd thankfully has and likely always will remain a very viable option, sometimes the best, sometimes the best for price.

4000 died after 3 years of driver support
5000 and 6000 died last year, but only officially. driver support really died after 3 years.
7000 series, gcn 1.0, they disabled async compute last month.

Biggest lie ever. People are running HD cards that have aged well, the gap between 1060 and RX 480 has closed, and people are still rock 390x cards and the like for years. Even the FX-8xxx trumps the i3 in multitasking, which matters if you're gayman alongside having 20+ tabs, playing music, and shitposting.

AMD cards are more practical. Nvidia cards are only good until the next series starts to launch.

If there was a bug, I want to know the performance before and after, seeing as it took what, a month or so before someone noticed anything, I find it hard to believe that async added anything to gcn 1, I have a gcn1 and would rather the game not crash/take system with it if the gain to performance is next to nothing.

still wish they would tell us more... at least its better then the heaven benchmark and nvidia where they made old cards worse, for no reason, removed all threads of it ever happening, and moved on like nothing happened.

I work from home developing on both windows and mac so I couldn't really avoid having a collection

Been thinking about building a pretty ballsy (dual xeons or some shit) workstation and consolidating most of my stuff into VMs - easy to spawn and trash windows instances for testing and shit as needed but I can host it all from linux so i can play around developing for that too (and keep all the non-work shit like web browsing on there)
