pricing... that's up in the air as amd said polaris has the 300 and under market, what does vega have? im personally betting 400-600, but just to spite the 1070 possibly the lower end card would be 350, it should also be noted that the card mentioned above was 8gb, and big vega is thought to be a 16gb card, so between 1080 and titan x for 350-450$

first, polaris was never going to be faster then pascal (higher end ones), no one was dumb enough to think that, what we thought was based on golden silicon, and turns out, if your shit clocks high id does hit where we thought it would, xfx gtr is the only partner that gets higher binned chips though.

honestly wasn't around/looking into a cpu around bulldozer, don't know the hype there, but I do know that till haswell, amd was better in rendering then an i7, and for games would hit 60, it was not good, but it wasn't the worst either.

on the fury, no one thought it would be 500$, everyone put it at 550, and fury x being the wild card as it was the first launch after amd said they didn't want to be the budget brand. seeing it was water cooled, we all added 100$ to 550 and said if amd aren't going full jew that's where it would land... and that's where it landed. nvidia got wind of the price and put out a slightly cut titan x for 650 effectively killing all hype for fury x, which was a good card.

no one thinks small vega will be 300, amd said polaris is the 300 and lower line of cards, however from 350-450 is the range for the small vega to hit, and what we are shown only has 8gb hbm2 when big vega is thought to have 16, so there is a chance.

and finally no, we are assuming 350/i7 price for 8 core 16 thread worst binning because that's what amd is alluding to. we then extrapolate 6 and 4 core prices from that, at 250 and 150. a leaked most likely fake vender try cost 'confirmed' that price point. with a 500$ higher bin.
personally im set on the 8 core being in the 350 range just because of how they present it and talk about it. I mean look, they keep talking about it in a gaming context, and we have solid arguments over if a 4 thread i3 or a 4 core i5 is good enough, could they justify their 8 core if it was bare minimum 500+$ i want to say no, but a sku at 350 250 and 150 sure as fuck could.

I'm kinda surprised that AMD goes for the high end enthusiast hardware. Zen shapes to be good although their marketing is shifty to say the least. Nobody is going to buy a $500 CPU to play battlefield same way nobody should buy a $1000 6900k. There are cheaper Intel alternatives that yield same results when it comes to games so I dunno wtf is the point of this, they might as well claim that their CPUs are as good as $2000 Xeons in vidya because in all cases that Titan X will bottleneck before CPUs. 490 supposedly chugs 225 watts of power so that's always a good sign of another AMD fuck up.

do you just not get the feeling at all, at any point in time with them saying this is the minimum, pitting it against a 6700 or having a consumer event for the 8 core, that it may be in the i7 price range? I have no doubt there will be higher binned chips for more, but bare minimum seems to be around the 350 range and with how many motherboards are coming for it, with very good oc capabilities, they seem to be targeting something, wide appeal most likely, a 300-800$ cpu line up that pits a 4 core 8 thread against an i7 with 4 cores 8 threads would have no mass appeal, you would just get the intel.
