It won't run the latest OS X. The edge of the palm rest peels off and it's easy as fuck to stain.
It gets amazingly hot doing the most simplest tasks and feels extremely fragile.

I always email them and say that they're dumb for asking that price, they should be asking 100ish, maybe 200ish for an i5/i7. If they respond it's usually with a "Whatever you don't know what you're talking about." or something to that effect.

No, don't get anything before the 2012 line.
The Core 2 Duos are outdated nowadays and the i5/i7 ones are much cheaper now. Also this one does not even have a good trackpad or any of the other nice features. Way too high price for what year it's from.
If you say you're going to install Linux on it, than get a ThinkPad, there's no use of the MacBook without macOS, you're making it just into a shitty 3rd party laptop by doing so.
