first for video games, guns and tripfags without trips
>3 variants of Model M in the post
>one SSK
>one full size ANSI
>one full size ISO
feels good man
Have we decided that Topre is the true endgame yet?
>fullsize
>rgb
yea literally every other topre board besides that piece of trash could be considered end game
I like actual useful keyboards when I play video games.
I play videogames on my HHKB its not hard lol
That's nice. I have enough ingame modifiers to worry about. I can live without having to have modifiers just to use my keyboard's "F" keys.
Just play games that don't require anything but WASD and some pinky modifiers
God I want blue switches but I can't afford anything right now. Next month...
I am also in this thread
whelp, trips don't lie I suppose
see
Can't really use them for games, friend.
mx blues are crap
get any other clicky switch
buckling spring, white alps, futabas, space invaders, mx greens
anything but mx blues
What do you think?
gotta love 80%. is that cthulhu? where did you buy the board?
Board is a novatouch with mx sliders. And yeah, those are cthullu key caps from hungr works studios.
The rest are gmk hyperfuse with cmyw mods
Listen to this guy, he's got double dubs
>be me
>walk into my room like any other day
>see bare naked cup rubber lying on my desk

what do?
OwO whats this?
those are topre switches
what keyboard is this?
Can I buy the hhkb 2 type s on Amazon? 20 dollars cheaper + prime shipping.
tada68
You can buy it on there. I don't know why you are asking us here
If you can wait and want unnecessary hassle you can import one from Japan and it'll be a little less costly.
Some years back some user said not to get it on Amazon, forgot the reason.
it's cheaper if you import them from Japan
There's no warranty except the one Amazon offers if you buy there.
EK is the only shop in the US with it.
How would I go about that?
Ahh, that's good to know. I'll buy it from there. I had some issues with a KB from EK before and they sent me a new one.
amazon.co.jp
and a forwarding service like white rabbit express or tenso
Amazon might allow you to return the item if it's a defective one.
It would be difficult to return one from Amazon Japan though.
i sure as fuck can, but then again the games i play are things like ark, SMB, and dark souls
Thanks! I went with Amazon since 3 year warranty for 20 more vs 2 year on ek.
You can't even play FPSes without at least 6key rollover.
Thats not true. most rubber domes have 2kro and people don't have a problem with them. Also depending on how the matrix is laid out you can press certain combinations without a problem
how the fuck do you play an FPS while holding six keys + modifiers?
X)
My tactical watches caliber 32 with tactical NATOS
No people make do with them.
Pretty easy. 5 keys even more easy.
my tactical baclava and very sharp knife
looking at the membrane layout of the model M you can see that despite having 2kro you can still press the 5-6 buttons that most FPS games need.
Besides what keys are you talking about. As you can see 2kro is just fine
looks comfy and safe
WASD
Reload hot key
Crouch/prone hot key
Mic hot key
That's 4-5 keys right there you can hit all at once. A 6th key can easily be added.
Another example that I admit is shit but you can make the argument for fat fingering all that too. That could involve more keys.
The only problem I see is that you can't move forward with W then reload and talk at the same time, unless you reload first then push to talk, or if you bind push to talk somewhere else then it wont be an issue anymore. Otherwise if you look at the matrix everything else is fine
My tactical Filco with hair trigger browns and nepalese toy caps.
Or just get a Topre keyboard and not worry about it. Full nkro
if i wanted rubberdomes ill just get an old one with nkro
Really trolled my britches in a bunch there.
Anyone know of where I can get ISO UK + Cyrillic keys for my Pok3r? The best thing I've found is a G80-1800LPCRB-0 and removing the keys... but that's shit, tbqh.
Is it bad practice to dab soldering lead from on top onto the board/pin? Seen that given as advice to not overheat transparent Zealios.
Also am I supposed to use any kind of special solder?
Group buys like XDA and Rebirth have those options and they only costed like 60 bucks, but those are gone and never coming back as they were only there for a single run. Sorry m8 better luck next time, although GMK Yuri is dropping soon™
I need a backlit keyboard for low-light hideogames, should I get a quiet mechanical or just grab whatever membrane's on sale at logitechstop?
develop muscle memory
depends on your budget. You can get full size mechanical keyboards with a back light and decent keycaps for like less then 60 bucks
My muscle memory is keyed to my XPS 13 so I occasionally need to look down when I'm using a full-size keyboard.
>GMK Yuri
That has fucked me right off. Would be perfect (considering what little is available) but I'd have to choose between Cyrillic or Latin.
mfw
Yeah, 60-80 would be about what I'd want to spend. Got any reccs as to specific manufacturers or models?
You can go after chink brands like magiforce which come with a variery of gateron or cherry switche. There is also Kahua and E-Element if you want a corsair knock off
>got a nice blue UK filco majestouch cherry blue switches
>want a minimal mac keyboard because of how elegant and minimalistic it looks
Am I a fag?
cant go wrong with magiforce senpai
do you like willies?
Yes but I'm not homo.
I'd love that wireless mac keyboard with mechanical switches.
Looks like the filco otaku, I almost got one but my typing and key memorization is crap, I'd have to keep googling where the less-used keys were.
I was reading the faq and the red and brown switches seem pretty similar. Is it just personal preference as to which you prefer? I actually don't mind the feel of membrane keyboards, so I'm not likely to be particular about my first mechanical.
Red or Brown switches? I'm mostly an FPS gamer using a 60g force membrane keyboard. Does a tactile bump feel like a brand new iPhone home button?
no, it feels more like the power button on a core 1100
Does anyone have spares from the CMYK modifiers? Impossible to find without paying out the ass.
Reds hands down. Gonna be a bit to get used to and typing won't be as easy but you won't regret it.
I have a magicforce. The keyboard actually rivals some keyboards that are twice the price.
no warranty
>topre
Gay, my razr mech keyboard has a built in usb hub, audio and mic in jacks, programmable keys and backlit keys.
Get on my level jelly fags.
good night /mkg/
I don't like using passthroughs because of the lag associated with them.
That said, I wouldn't mind my HHKB having USB 3.1 passthrough and connect to the computer with USB-C. It would be nice for charging smart devices.
If you buy from amazon.com it's not an issue.
Might not be an issue if you get one from mechanicalkeyboards.com, but I haven't seen their return policy.
>audio and mic jacks
Yeah I bet Razer's bargain bin DAC and ADC in there are real high quality
>programmable
Actual programmable or "our garbage drivers let you make shitty macros that aren't saved to the keyboard, only locally or ~on the cloud~"
>backlit
Literally no-one cares about backlighting except idiots who care more about appearance than functionality
or i could have a good keyswitch and just press only two keys at a time
Topres are literally memes
I tried my manlet friends hhkb 60% and all they feel like are less shitty rubber domes
Explain how would you use these over a blues or browns without donning a fedora
whoa mate something riled you up?
how about you take a breather first correct the sentance, then get back to shitposting
No mate I'm just sharing my opinion on something and asking on someone else's perspective
Also my grammar was fine
used TKL skull squadrons to play around with to my heart's content on my novatouch, and a pristine 100% complete skull squadron set (plus signature plastics thank you caps) for vanity shots. r8 me.
Does anyone know if the Unicomp keyboards that are repros of the model M are any good? I want a model M really bad but I'm not sure if it's better to just buy a new Unicomp or a used genuine one.
no experience with an actual model M (can't live without my windows key) but i use the endurapro at work and like it. if you can find either of em cheap i say go for it.
How's the clit on that thing?
Interesting. I'm looking at various models, was thinking of just a regular Ultra Classic, I don't need the clitmouse.
So here's the other one, PS2 or USB? What flavor is "better" and why? I'm hard pressed to find a clear answer to this one.
How's the clit on that thing?
I have one. Kind of bulky, but I like it.
I want to buy the mito canvas cap set, is anyone else thinking about it?
goodnight buddo
anyone buy a vortex core?
>40% meme
No. Any less than 60% is needlessly inconveniencing yourself.
I want my GMK Hydro.
That thing is a joke.
The keycaps are dye-subbed and the case is anodized, fixing the issues with the regular pok3r.
But it's a 40%, and it's not even fully programmable.
>>>want a minimal mac keyboard because of how elegant and minimalistic it looks
I actually switched from Pok3r to Apple Al full-size keyboard. It's so fucking low to the desk that it doesn't trigger any RSI in my hands. Love it! Just fucking go for it.
No because shitty programing. Waiting on let's split parts gb. staring at icewind :(
Didn't we all already agree that switch preference is just that, preference. Some people prefer topre, some prefer gaterons (or mx, idk), etc. Topre has a quality of tactility that no MX switch has, and is only closely matched by some very rare alps. Whether or not you like that is up to you, but many people do. That's it. Let's be happy and friends, please.
Those keycaps are so nice. I got a chance to type on some at a meetup and they hug your fingers. Freaking awesome!
Anyone got one of those Cherry ML compact keyboards? How is it? Currently typing on MX reds and wondering if the ML switch is any better for typing. Since I still mostly type on laptops the short travel is actually a benefit.
Cherry ml switches feel like typing on wet newspaper. I would look forward to the gateron low profile switches.
Even compared to a rubber dome laptop keyboard?
