what does it mean when a headphone is described as "dark" like the x2's?

It's more low and mid end focused, the high's are less sparkly and peircing

What about for some earplugs for.my phone? Does it matter which ones I buy or are they all the same in the 20-50 price range?

earplugs? You mean iem's?
I honestly think with iem's you're paying more for durability/accessories than for sound. I'm not an audiophile though

What kind of headphones does fuuka have?

Deadphones

Literally me

Are sennheisers new HD5*9 actually an upgrade over HD5*8 or are they one of those where new ones are shittier than old ones
Also what the fuck is HD569 and HD579 supposed to be ? HD559 and HD599 are supposed to be direct upgrades of the HD558 and HD598, but those two are just new shit

What the best setting for dac, go with highest setting your dac capable 24/32bit 192hz or lowest it can 16bit 44.1 hz. or somewhere mid ?

prove it

fat bass, it's going to be used for Slamming Brutal Death Metal purposes, but also for trap etc

Just leave it at the highest setting that doesn't fuck with programs. It doesn't really matter though. You won't hear a difference.

I need it to be portable enough too

Any opinions about Sony MDR-XB950AP ?? i was in a shop, put them on my head. These are so COMFY, but now i read they have lot of bass, im lookin for a balanced sound, was looking for ath-m40x. but Dunno if these will be comfy to.

>i was in a shop, put them on my head. These are so COMFY, but now i read they have lot of bass,
wait you could put them on your head but you couldn't listen to something with them?
what the fuck?

also neutral is not the same as balanced
also OP for purchasing advice

I mean something to use with my phone, no idea how to say it in english

24/44.1

Well you could use anything with the phone, but I think you mean IEMs the ones that come with your phone when you buy it, eardicks
Not expert, but I've heard that Xiaomi Pistons are good and LG QuadBeats are also good

there was no way to listen, it was just for public view. Just exhibition

Usually they are connected to something or even an open plug so you can use your phone to try them out

that's fucking retarded

kek

Just ordered the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless over ear. Heard they're the best for Bluetooth

>what am I in for?

regret

tfw finally buying schiit stack

Elaborate?

I got Sennheiser HD 650 as a gift. What amplifier should i buy?

Just copped some DT 990s 600Ohms

I fucking love them

Anything powerful. Those things suck juice with three straws.

Try them without one first? If you want one anyway, what is your budget? Any other requirements?

No they don't suck juice. They aren't that insensitive either and because of the high impedance, they don't draw much power.

One with 2Vrms and 40mwatts in the output at minimum, Micca Origen+ has a super confy limit of 1.7Vrms on low and 100mwatts max, so you have a confy listen level on low. The drawback are the shit drivers.

Reminder that X2's are the best phones under 300 bucks

This desu, was agonizing over these or the DT990s at a store a few weeks ago. So glad I went with the X2s.

literally the only thing they have going for them is that they don't need an amp
if you already have an amp there's a lot of better options

I prefer my K712 desu

I have an asus xonar STX and it works just fine.

O2 or Magni2

you must be retarded to buy an amp with a price of the headphones
and you won't notice any difference between these reddit shill products and e10k

I was thinkin of getting akg 550 mkii. What do you lads think?

amazon.co.uk/AKG-Premium-Foldable-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B016ON147O

I was thinkin of this, specifically.

AKG K612 or K701 seem to fit what you're looking for a bit better, since they're open and more on the neutral/bright side. Latter might require a (fairly basic) amp though.

e17k for $90, or fulla 2 for $100?

You would love the k612 pro but might need an amp, the hd598SE has great highs IMO and is mostly neutral and doesnt need an amp

>look at me while im projecting my own sense of value and worth on others
>i shit on reddit for extra cool cred among equally retarded anons
>i don't really understand how much amplifiers can cost in parts alone
>but ill give shit advice anyway because if it's enough for me, it has to be enough for others too

you wont satisfy your criteria of neutral/bright nor the fact that you are looking for preferably open back headphones with k550. in fact i wouldn't recommend those headphones to anyone regardless of their preference. at the very least not without having a listen in a shop.

try hd 558 for open back or mdr-7506 for closed back. both are easily driven from low powered devices like smartphones or laptops. if you really don't care but want comfortable, dt770 perhaps? it has a v-shape somewhat similar to the akg 550(when it works properly) but it's much more comfortable.

k612 is the least sensitive akg. it needs an amplifier more than most headphones on the market, including akg's own "higher end" models.

if you can muster up that 10 bucks and don't need portability(battery operation), fulla is better.

The 55Xs are not open.

I would like to eventually upgrade, but for now I was looking for something that would be easily driven by low powered devices and which I could carry around with me for convenience, listening to at the gym and on a daily comute, etc. thanks for the advice user.

You are literally asking for the SHP9500

>SHP9500

Just looked it up. I'm kind of torn between SHP9500 and the hd 558. hmm...

>>greentext wall
:)

Tone wise the philips are more bright than the senhs, the philips cable can be replased the senhs has a 3metter 1/4 cable with an adaptor, i say the philips are more portable. The HD598SE have 2 cables and are a little brighter than the HD558, consider them if you find them cheap

Thanks user, I think I'm gonna go with the philips. Appreciate the advice.

Boys should i buy these rha-audio.com/ca/products/ma750 or these beoplay.com/products/beoplayh3anc

I need something for on-the-go, I’ll be out of country for a few months.

get these
amazon.com/Westone-Six-Driver-Universal-Fit-Earphones-78507/dp/B00KQOZA1Y

An O2 is cheaper than an E10k, and a Magni2 is only $100

just received akg k712pro this morning.
sound great.
bit of a change from my dt990s and 770s but, i'm loving it. A lot less bass, but the beyers have too much anyway. I think AKG has hit the sweet spot with the bass on these. Really dynamic, great natural tones, great soundstage. And they are really comfy too.
Im pleased.

Any good recommendations for hearing protection wireless bluetooth headphones?

Bose's QC line is the leader in active noise cancelling
if you just want decent active noise cancelling with better audio, consider sennheiser's PXC 550

How's the build quality and sturdiness? Do they sound well with high impedance output amps?

I just got the cheap pads for my superlux 668b. However, it came with 2 foam things between the pads. Am I supposed to put the foam things in the pads and then put in on my headphones? First time buying pads so not sure. Here's what I got amazon.com/Cosmos-Velvet-Replacement-Cushion-Headphones/dp/B00KLPRQMO

>How's the build quality
they feel a bit flimsy compared with the beyers but the the beyers are brutes and heavy, the akg are light on the head, i don't think i'll have any problems unless i abuse them. Build quality certainly looks good. Obviously i've just got them so it's impossible to say.
Though I don't think they'll survive the same abuse the beyers do.

>Do they sound well with high impedance output amps?
According to reviews i've read, they need a lot of power to sound their best. I'm running them through an e09k, which will power just about anything, and they sound great. Running them from just the e17 alpen they definitely don't sound as good but, far from terrible.

I have that exact setup with my 668B's. They're the smaller thin foam filters right?

Yes, it just came in a white box with nothing else so not sure if it's supposed to be in the pads or not.

Yeah put them behind the pads. It'll cut out the highs a bit, which the 668b's desperately need.

I have read that the spring band thing becomes loose rather quickly so they just hang on your head instead of sitting tightly.

By high impedance output I meant amps that output let's say 10 ohms instead of 1, those are the majority and supposedly low impedance headphones sound poorly with them due to the driver being out of control or whatever, the 1/8 and ideally 1/10 rule. Meaning K712 needs output impedance of 7.3 ohms or ideally 5.8 to sound properly.

That miight be audiofool delusions but who knows.

I just looked up e09k specs and the output impedance is of 10 ohms, which is more than those headphones need but I guess if they sound good, we can dismiss this issue.

I have my 668B's layered with 3 filters on each cup. The original pair that came with the 668B's, the ones I kept from my dead 681's and the extra thin ones that came with the Cosmos pads. It brings the bass up a bit while taming the highs at the slight cost of soundstage.

I want to get some gucci headphones as gift to my gf. What should I choose?

No beats
Wireless preferred but not a necessity.
Max budget $1500

Thinking about some Beoplay H8

Not bad choice but personally wouldn't put in more than $200 on headphones where I don't know how the person is going to treat it and not an audiophile and won't know the difference.

Clearly it isn't about the sound aspect here. Calm your autism.

I literally started saying that it wasn't a bad choice before putting my personal opinion but here you are.

Why wireless though? That's something pretty impractical overall, especially for normies that will forget to charge them. Not to mention the degraded sound quality.

I assume they're going to be for outdoor use mainly? Then get the over-ear Momentum, those are nicely built and look classy instead of autistic, on-ear stuff is usually uncomfortable after a short while and leaks/has bad isolation.

Sennheiser HD 600 is going for $299 new on Amazon right now. Is this the best price I could hope for? I haven't been following it for long, and used ones aren't much cheaper at all.

No, I've seen 650's go for about that much.

Theyve been down to ~$260, but that is pretty rare. Theyre usually a fair bit higher.

You can hope for another 6XX drop.

Are there decent non-chinese (no superlux/brainwavz) closed headphones for less than $70?

M40x.
Why no superlux/brainwavz though?
Youre going to have to pay for pads with M40x anyway

Can someone recommend me a chink upgrade to my old AKG K701? Preferably something that's less than 200$ but sounds like the Sennheiser HD 800

Wair for another 6XX
otherwise 600/650

My superluxes (668b and 681) broke within a year and so have the brainwavz in-ears I've had.

I plugged them to my motherboard Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, which has an 2V amplifier, and it sounds pretty good compared to my old Sennheiser HD 465. Is integrated sound card really that good nowadays or should i still think about buying a amplifier to get better sound?

I also have one of those fancy new mobos with a good audio chip and built in amp. It sounds alright but it doesn't really come close to my Essence STX, and I assume any good external amp+dac combo.

Help! How do I remove the static(?) noise that comes from the headphones when plugged in?

buy a dac/amp.

I know I could wait around for another 6XX drop, but they're just a "limited edition" model of the HD 650, and it would probably be months before I could finally get my hands on one. Even then, they're most likely just going to sell out in less than an hour like they did last time.

From the reviews I've seen, the HD 650 doesn't seem to be an "upgrade" over the 600 in any way to warrant that higher price tag. It just has a different, warmer sound signature. I'll probably end up ordering an HD 600 since it's at a decent price, I'm just trying to talk myself into it since I'll need to pick up an amp+DAC along with it

Not an audiophile, sorry.
I have this problem with the VSound VSD1S that I just bought, but standard apple earbuds produce no noise. Is there anything I can do softwarewise?

Is it normal for me to hear noise when I move around my headphone coord / jack?

>Vsound
*Vsonic

>Is there anything I can do softwarewise?
No. Its your noise floor being picked up by your sensitive IEMs. By a DAC/Amp with a lower noise floor.

Don't have to be an audiophile to buy a dac/amp. If you want something cheaper, try a sound card.

Yes.

oh well, thanks anyway :(
>try a sound card
on a laptop?

ah nvm.

Wow, the japs really nailed it.

>I have read that the spring band thing becomes loose rather quickly so they just hang on your head instead of sitting tightly.
Looking at it, that seems plausible, especially if you have a large head or wear them low on your head. I barely have the elastic elastic extended.
It is a really nice system though. You don't need to adjust them like you do other headphones, the elastic automatically adjust to your head, it feels fantastic. Time will tell if it lasts.

>Is integrated sound card really that good nowadays
Yes when properly implemented. Yours seems like fine.
