Lightworks

Because it has a pathetic 2.21% of the OS market share

so server software is chopped liver then

Why would you support such a miniscule portion of machines?

There are costs involved with supporting your application on more platforms. Not only in development time, but also in maintenance.

This is a pretty silly question, because the answer is obvious.

Define "professional software"

stop posting this guy

It's a common misconception that the average business makes use of Linux outside of websites.

Most SMBs are running Windows Server for LOB applications and industry standards like Active Directory and Exchange.

It does?
All GIS I've had to work with had Linux releases

It doesn't, it just lacks video games.

very disappointed by the lack of adobe products available for linux.

Light works is meme tier garbage.

By professional software I assume you mean tools for artists? Like photoshop and final cut pro.

Linux has a lot of professional software, the top tier stuff in fact, it's just backend software likes servers.

Adobe is cancer
Worse than Applel

I wonder if Adoobie will make software for Linux when Apple throws in the towel on Mac.

Many SMBs getting bad advice. The average SMB doesn't need active directory or exchange. Also many LOB applications running perfectly fine with Linux. It's the special snowflake Software, that insists on Windows.
We are going great with samba, LDAP and IBM Notes/Domino.

>still has a better h.264 encoder than resolve

gtfo

because linux devs are huge faggots that have to do everything via command line, including setup. it should be mandatory for every package to have a GUI.

Unreal Engine runs on Linux.

I think you meant Adobe Software

Why does Windows lack professionalism?

Linux has professional software. But not for liberal arts mouthbreathers.

If you worked in infosec, IT, science you would know.

Because it's shit made for retards.

do you even know what a package is

I wanna fuck that girl(?)

Yeah, it's the thing I deliver to your mom every night.

people don't use active directory and exchange because of microsoft lock-in. people use active directory and exchange because they are objectively better than the alternatives.

well there are a bunch. but libreoffice? you dense man? this i prime example on professional software. also software which let's you sync it's content with other devices doesn't exist. well you can i if you want to. but theres always at least a tweak necessary to make this possible.

Uh.. no. Cell phones alone make your assertion and your reputation null.

because businesses as a whole are risk adverse, and Windows was in the enterprise game much earlier

We all do.

No, it isn't.
(I'm a MCSE since 2000)

What happened to Zoe? Did she become a reverse trap? (e.g. becoming a "man")????

yes they are

>windows, mag
>you can do only what they tell you to do, and little to no effort is required

>gnu/linux
>you can do everything you want but it require at least little effort

just choose faggot and install gentoo

she got a cute haircut

>vidya is professional software
is this way.

These companies are greedy. They hate free and they only want big $$$.

Products are good, IDK about Adobe.

OP meant Photoshop, Ableton, FL Studio, PH Reason, Paintshop Pro, Videostudio pro...

How do any of these relate to Sup Forums? From what I see these all belong on /ic/, /p/, or /gd/.
Sup Forums proffessional software boils down to text editors/networking implementations/etc.

Because we want better soft than those Dinesh uses.

Tell me, what exactly it better?

>tfw AWS is built on RHEL5, Java and Oracle

It's true that there are costs involved.
And you pay this cost for each version of windows you support too.

This is why web applications are such a good idea for so many people.

> Support one environment only
> Which YOU control.
> Updates happen automatically
> Backups done by professionals on the backend instead of amateurs on the end user level
> Flat cost per period for end user so it's easier to budget the solutions

And these things work on Linux machines too.

CRM, BI, E-mail, calendars, budgeting, accounting, reporting software... These things all exist. Unless you're one of those people who think that Photoshop is a prerequisite to running a successful bakery, you're just plain wrong.

What exactly does SMBs need AD and Exchange for?

I mean yes, Exchange is not a bad email server, but why is a small-medium business running their own fucking email?

They are small-medium. They should get specialists to deal with that shit for them. Whatever that specialist uses is ultimately completely irrelevant. It's not something that they would care about.

What they do care about:
> Do I get my email?
> Fast?
> Securely?
> Without paying too much?

And AD?
Come on bro. An SMB would just use google drive or similar cloud storage to share files.
And send smaller files via email.

> Muh group video conferences needs Skype for Business!
Fuck no. Your group video conferences can use google hangouts.

> Muh audio chat!
Skype routinely shits the bed on such.
Discord is much better.

> Muh issue tracking
Atlassian stack for issues (test/helpdesk can talk directly to IT with it, which is nice.)

> CRM!
SuperOffice CRM, cloud license, done.
You're SMB, you don't want to have a large IT department.

> Microsoft Office!
... Office 365 if you NEED to use MS Office.
Other than that, for the 99% of use cases, LibreOffice actually does work. For some things it works objectively better than MS Office.
Calc won't shit the bed horrendously when you ask it to open a CSV file for example, but Excel... Depending on language settings, it totally will. And it won't tell the use it's confused either. And guess what? A lot of data sources in real life will export as CSV.

You don't NEED an MS stack to do business.
You can build a good business stack using MS, but you can do without them.

s/tell the use/tell the user/g

the global flag doesn't need to be specified if it only occurs once.
Also I'm pretty sure everyone understood what you meant.

Doesn't have to, but the meme is s//g, so that's what you write.
.

>the meme
fuck off back to Sup Forums you piece of shit.

>e-sports coordinator
This is a real job that people get paid for? It sounds simultaneously difficult and unofficial/unglamorous.

Well in any case SOE IS CUTE! CUTE!!!!!

Because linux lack professionals.

This.

Market share means nothing, Linux is free and thus nothing other than RedHat products (and a few others) is counted.

Linux's most Professional Software: The User
