What went wrong?

What went wrong?

There are no experiences that must be experienced, still too much, needs higher res screen. It's still too early

Nothing, it's first gen VR. Nothing unexpected.
>people think VR is a gimmick like 3D TV

This is another thread I hope to remember so I can laugh at it in 5 years.

first of all its expensive
second normal fags don't know what it does yet
third its not nigger technology (cant be shown in public therefor useless to niggers)

Everything that's too expensive for your average consumer poorfags is a gimmick. Give me a call when a pc VR set will cost less than $600.

Exactly, when i used it at DH it felt awesome and was super fucking fun. But its not something most people can just throw money into. If it gets cheaper itll be less niche, but at the moment its a not really viable for the average person.

Why normies dont like VR

>Expensive
>Early tech limitations
>Small amount of content
>Requires expensive hardware to run
>Requires some amount of saviness to run

Why autists dont like VR

>REEEEE MUH MEME TECHNOLOGY

Nothing
I'm just waiting for higher res kits

Same thing as with Linux: no games.

Pricepoint

Holy shit that shit's expensive

but what about all the porn?

Its not as bad as you might think. The most annoying thing about VR is the screen resolution. This shit can give me headaches within an hour, if I try to read text. As a productivity tool this is useless.

However, the other aspects of the device are fucking amazing. the 3D is in no way comparable to what you get with 3D tv or 3D movies. If the in game FOV is perfect Depth perception becomes so natural its mind blowing.

I play Elite Dangerous with mine and you have absolutely no idea how fun it is to dogfight in an asteroid field. Being able to follow targets with your head is glorious.

Nothing has given me a strongest boner than looking at the gaping asshole of a slut in VR porn, too bad you look like a total autist if you get caught fapping wearing your HMD.

Nothing, it is progressing as expected. Of course it will take a few generations for it to get really popular. Right now it's only for the especially interested, with the price and lack of AAA content. But that will change.

>first gen VR
this. I'm in for the 40yr long haul.

VR is a lot like arcades in the early 80s - really fun at places that can afford them, but not something many have in their homes.

I'd be really interested to see more VR multiplayer games. Even something boring like playing cards at a table can be super fun when the other player moves and behaves like a real human. Hand tracking is likely to be a big thing with 2nd gen systems.

Nothing.

SBS porn sucks, only rendered is decent at the moment until more advanced techniques similar to photogrammery that properly convey perspective and depth appear.

Frankly barely use it for porn past first impressions, I'm turned off most of the time, maybe when I was a horny teen I would have been all over it.

Biggest gripe for me has to be the setup time and weight/size of the damn thing. The resolution is low but barely tolerable, and FoV could be better but it quite sufficient. The immaculate tracking is what makes it amazing.

The stock headstrap is woeful, the new headstrap with integrated headphones should improve comfort and reduce setup time a bit. Feels like a commitment putting it on at the moment.

The biggest problem for Vive right now is the lack of quality content with long playtime.

> First gen VR

No it's not. There's been many unsuccessful attempts.

too expensive. should have been like half the price.

third is stupid logic

i think expensive is the biggest and basically only reason why it wasnt successful

VR is still to flakey to be a universal medium

> goofy looking as shit
> visual fidelity still sucks
> inability to dynamically re-focus displayed content to match virtual depth causes eye strain and headaches
> mismatch of body inertial sense and displayed scene movement limits scenarios to low/slow-movement ones to prevent people from puking their guts out
> will give you pimples and/or facial herpes depending on how tightly its clamped and who you share with

and that's before you even get into the politics about the companies who own the tech.

i used the headset after 4 people used it and that bitch was nasty asf

>Expensive
>Needs good computer to power it
>First generation
>Not a lot of good content

Content is the big one. People would overlook the rest of VR content was widespread and incredible.

IMHO because you need more than just a 600 dollar headset and 2000 dollar PC, you need an omnidirectional treadmill and a gun with absolute position sensing

>entire thing is a gimmick as of now, like a wii game.
>No way to control(move around in) actually fun games
>Money grubbing devs making it overpriced (rift costs $200 to make) because even they think it wont take off
>horrible resolution

>hasn't experienced this generations VR
wew lad

normies will literally not buy this because "it looks stupid"
