Thoughts on the S20?

Normie friend needs a phone for Sweden and UK so no chink shit. Budget is 100 to 250 britbong pounds but probably lower is better

A few years ago I would have said Moto G but I'm not current on normie phones with good LTE bands

Redmi Note 3 Special Edition. Has all european bands

Yes I got a SE myself for Japan and UK but this friend is full normie, I'm not there to hold their hand with chink shit

Moto G4+.

Moto G5 is coming in march, get either that or a Huawei / Honor phone

>or a Huawei / Honor phone
I SAID NO CHINKSHIT

Those phones are sold locally in UK / Sweden so they'll have all the bands needed + warranty and support if that's what your issue is.

Huawei is Korean and Motorola is Chinese. Apple is also Chinese. The more you know.

Huawei is Chinese

Anyone got any experience with Oukitel phones?
Reviews online aren't too bad for this particular model to be fair.

The CPU is very weak compared to anything else (slower than a 4 year old HTC one or a Samsung Galaxy S4), but the rest of the phone isn't bad

An user posted quite a detailed review over at /csg/ a while ago, check the archive. It's a great phone, don't worry.

Don't forget to install cm13 or RR

cm13 is no longer supported

Who cares? Doesn't mean it doesn't work.

LeEco Le Max 2 is available for $186 from Banggood with the coupon KIMOVILX829. It's one of the few chinkphones with full support for US LTE bands

banggood.com/LeTV-LeEco-Le-Max-2-X829-5_7-inch-4GB-64GB-Snapdragon-820-Quad-core-4G-Smartphone-p-1125233.html

No headphone jack. Makes it a shit.

It's good for people still on Lollipop who want a newer Android version but also want to use xposed or some other app not yet available for Nougat.

Ever since I flashed Lineage OS, my phone is powering off while charging and I have to hold the power button for 30 seconds or something to power it on. Anyone knows how to fix it?

Reflash stock or stock-based ROM until pajeet gets his shit together

no

I've got absolutely no idea what either of those things are.

Then hold your power button for 30 seconds or something to power your crashed phone on

Cyanogenmod 13 and Resurrection Remix, two android custom ROMs

You don't need to flash shit. the Oukitel ROM is already close to stock.

Been having tons of notification problems lately :

>OP3
>Nougat

Checking my notification sound is enabled, the sounds are definitely loud enough to hear, and even the notification light... I am not getting whatsapp or email notifications. No sound, no "messages" that pop up.

My app for whatsapp is Disa and for email it is TypeApp. What's going on? App glitch? Nougat error?

You can basically flash anything you like. start tinkering with different roms.

nexus 6p is dying slowly but surely and it's becoming a piece of crap, what is a good chink phone to replace the old beast ?

The Nougat update has been rushed, I'm having issues too.

>Keep my 1 year old Moto X Play with broken screen
>Buy a refurbished or new iPhone 5 (because 6> is too expensive for me)
>Save for like eight months to get an iPhone 6>
>Save for like a year to get a Galaxy S7 Edge

Help me choose

>OP3T 128GB back in stock
Should I buy now or wait for the OP5?

You'll be waiting until June/July

Get a chinkphone

>Moto G series has GPS issues
>Can't connect to Russian satellites
>Drops and wanders when travelling
Aside from being cheap and getting you lost, what's so great about this phone?

>the Oukishit shill is still operating

Good specs for the price
MicroSD slot
Stock android, already got updated to Nougat
Easy to unlock / root
Plenty of custom ROMs available (inc. official LineageOS)
Removable battery (only on the G4 Play)

There are chinkphones that have better specs for same price, but they often don't have support for all the network bands you might need + you can forget about having warranty or repair service

so I know very little of smartphones and i'm looking to get one with a budget of around 200-300$, mostly want to surf the web and listen to music.
been looking at the p9 lite but i like really clean homescreens, any similiar phones that won't have interfaces looking like detroit?

You can simply install a custom launcher and make the homescreen look however you want.
Phones to look at:
Huawei / Honor phones
Galaxy J5 (2016) / J7 (2016)
Moto G4 / G4 Plus / G4 Play ( though Moto G5 is launching soon so you might want to wait for that)

Moto G4 plus.
amazon.com/dp/B01DZJFWNC/

recommended me a custom launcher?
I'm tired of google bar at the top of G4 Play
No, you can't long press and hide it.
Google also interferes with music playback, thinking I've asked google to do some voice command, but I've turned off every google voice/now/okay option I can find.

Nova Launcher

I have the option of obtaining the motorola moto x r the razr hd for free. Going to be using these until the samsung s8 edge comes out. What do you Sup Forumsuys think is the better of the 2?

So,I have a Z1 Compact and I like to give it some more life; currently I'm with a pajeet room. I'm searching for some stability but the latest stock rom is 5.11 and bloated af, is lineage os or CM à good option?

Consensus on the axon 7?
amazon.com/dp/B01FUF1EL8/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=

Good hardware, shit software.

Is that a joke? those phones are 4 years old.

>shit software
It just got official LineageOS ROM which fixes all the issues with the stock ROM.

>shit software
does Sup Forums not like marshmallow? android in general?
please be more specific.

No, its not a joke. I could go out and buy the s7 edge but, whats the point if the s8 comes out in a month or two. My last phone was destroyed and these are my only options as of now.

My nexus 5x just got stuck on a boot loop (anyone know a way to get data out of it?).
I'm living in Germany but I'll be back in Australia in a few months.

Is there a better alternative out there than the moto z play that's roughly the same price, I don't mind paying a bit more but I do want a sd card slot.

It has great quality control though.

They are both massive pieces of shit. buy a blu r1 hd from amazon $99 until the S8 comes out.

Isn't that phone $50 with Amazon Prime?

$50 version has ads but I'm sure you can just do something to get it removed

i can get them for free. Dont want to spend money when im buying an s8 in a month

my Mate 9 is arriving in 2 days.
bought it for 510 euro. how'd i do?
hyped af cause I never owned android before
is everything i need to know to get started in the sticky? anything outdated in it I should keep in mind?

Been using Redmi Note 4 for a week.

MIUI is fucking trash, seriously. Seeing it in pros in OP link surprised me. This iOS/Touchjizz mix is fucking disgusting, but that's something you get used to. However, you won't get used to notifications. They look and work like Android 4.0 notifications, meaning you can't expand them, you can't perform actions without opening the app first, they're still using colored icons etc.
The worst part is that they straight up don't fucking work most of the time. You can reply to a message, turn off screen, put the phone on the table, only to pick it up in 20 minutes only to find out you got a text back the same fucking minute but no notification. This shit is fucking infuriating. I turned off all the power saving shit in the settings, and it still happens sometimes. If you look up "miui notifications not working" you get like a 10-step guide to get this shit working, and it still doesn't.

Other than that I'm really pleased with it. Very good screen, really sturdy build, decently loud speaker, good call quality, 8+ hours of screen time no matter what I do with it, and insanely cheap for what you get. My last phone was Z3 Compact which had plenty of issues, most notably shitty screen that also came off two times, after the second time I decided it's time to get a replacement.

tl;dr Notifications are a fucking disaster, otherwise pretty good

do u need to charge ur phone for 24 hours when u buy a new one

no it should have be usable out of the box but with a low battery most likely so you should plug it in

No, whoever told you that was talking bullshit

anyone here using an S7? Any notable flaws aside from touchwiz?

Who here has used Lenovo/Motorola's repair services? Is it worth it?

I have a Moto X Pure with a cracked screen and I'm thinking about sending it in but I'm not sure what to expect. I hope it doesn't take too long.

>Nexus 6p Randomly turned off of today
>Stuck in boot loop
>Factory reset doesn't do anything

T-Thanks Android, good thing its still under warrent

Looking for a phone in canada. My budget is around 250$ max. 5 inch or so screen, 1080p, fingerprint sensor, and micro sd would be appreciated. Redmi note 3 looks pretty good, as well as the zuk z2.
any anons help would be appreciated

1 year GS7 user here.

If it's not the S7 edge and just the regular one you're talking about, its not too good or too bad. Solid. There are honestly better phones out there for less but the crisp OLED screen, front camera and fingerprint button is a selling point. The front camera works pretty good in dim areas as advertised.

Overall, it's as good as my old GS3 but obviously faster and has less battery drainage ofc. You can get rid of touchwiz with Nova Launcher or something similar.

Also, this might be moot but it's not fuckhuge like other fingerprint-meme phones such as the Google Nexus. I don't need to buy a manpurse for a king-sized chocolate bar phone.

My Xperia M2 died.
Should I get the Moto G4+ or wait for the G5?

How are the new iPhones? I realized recently that I don't care about the OS capabilities, just the phone itself. My main concerns are battery life, performance, and hardware quality.

Wait for the g5

you dont need those things from an iphone
but the SE is the only Sup Forums-approved iphone, and if you jailbreak it you can make it look really good and operate just fine.

the iphone 8 (perhaps called the iphone X, since its ten years since the release) should be announced in september or so

problem is what to do while you wait
i got the g4, and ill use it for over a year, so that if a g6 comes out i'll get that

Hello, /spg/. I'm using a rooted Honor 8 and I'd like to update the EMUI 4.1 to 5.0 or put a good and stable ROM on it. Can anyone recommend me a good tutorial or a good ROM ?

im in the usa, looking for a new phone that isnt chink. carrier is sprint, budget isnt really an issue. been considering waiting for the galaxy s8, new LG or motorola phones, or just going for the google pixel. thoughts?

what's the best case for the oneplus 3T?

Wait at least until MWC and then ask again

Fuck

>battery life
>iphone
hahahahahahaha
pick one.

Looking for an around £50 smartphone for my girlfriend.

Looking at a Cubot Rainbow.

To be fair user, those reviews aren't wrong but they are outdated. Many of the earlier complaints have been addressed (i.e. Camera autofocus and aggressive battery management). Of course, it's not a perfect phone, but any one interested in a phone that's more than a few months old should assess the current opinions of the community at large rather than a few year old blogs.

Personally, I've had a lovely time with the device, especially after the nougat update.

Didn't the nougat update come out today?

That's a fuckin' shite phone senpai

pixel or iphone 7

i'm finna decide tomorrow

verizon, so i dont have a bunch of other choices if both blow

pure talkusa just dropped support for my first smartphone 32g meizu mx2. ill continue to use that on wifi

any older cheap dumbphones you've loved that can into 3g and microsim card ?

Galaxy S7 non-edge w/ verizon

or

OP3 with T-mobile

She deserves better than a £50 smartphone

We're both broke, but she refuses to buy a phone. She's constantly getting lost in Scotland and I need something to contact her.

Galaxy S7
>5.1" 1440p
>Touchwiz
>better screen
>better camera
>SD card slot
>waterproof

OP3
>5.5" 1080p
>stock android
>easier to unlock/root
>lots of custom ROMs
>USB-C
>Dash charge

Galaxy S7 is probably the better phone overall, but if you prefer stock android and want to be able to install custom ROMs pick the OP3.

is there any phones that have the same looks like the next bit robin, so i dont buy a cheaply made plastic phone that im about to throw 164 dollars at i really just love the look of the robin.
But i dont like how its made of pure plastic and glass lenses

Not really, it's quite an unique looking phone. Maybe one of the Xperia phones.

Just get a used Moto G

This is the new Moto G5

>tfw phone is dying and want to upgrade ASAP
>but I want to wait for MWC announcements so I can get a nice phone with Nougat out of the box
>also don't want to get chinked because no 4G in my country, Honor 8, Redmi 4 and Note 4 Hatsune Miku Edition look nice though

I seriously hope Nokia, Motorola and Blackberry don't fuck it up, I'm really looking forward for their new phones

So far the Moto G5 looks nice I guess, it's not too big, stock android, hopefully with Nougat, and aluminum body (or so it looks)
If would be nice if the Z Play gets a price cut as well

>tfw was hyped for new HTC devices, then the HTC Ultra announcement happened

pic related, my living corpse

Looks OK. Thinking of buying a dual sim G5 when it comes out to use as a work phone.

forbes.com/sites/bensin/2016/11/17/how-to-fix-push-notifications-on-xiaomis-miui-8-for-real/#5235b3c44e1b

Oh, and turn MiUi optimization off as well, not just memory optimization.

You have to "whitelist" app to allow it to run in background on miui.

1. Settings -> Battery -> Manage apps battery usage -> Chose apps

2. Security -> Permissions -> Autostart

It's a great system taking in account current state of android and (non existing) background process management.

No.

Thanks LG not Android

XDA has a script to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP. From there getting rid of the ads is as simple as flashing a .zip. And if you don't want to go to all that trouble you can disable them temporarily (until reboot) by enabling developer options and stopping the ads service.

Best $60 dollars I ever spent. Makes a handy backup phone and it's not so bad in its own right. The 2 gig version has handled everything I've thrown at it just fine, though the most intensive thing I've done was play GTA Libert City Stories.
