when I open windows default calculator I can immidiately start using the keypad to put in data, but when I hit enter it opens up the calcs menu instead of computing the equation.
It appears that the issue is default focus upon opening the window is on the menu instead of the display, i've yet to find a way to resolve it.
I've googled and the closest thing I find is people having issues when using microsoft keyboards- I'm using a logitech and the actual issue is slightly different
For them the entire calc window does not gain focus and thus comes up behind any other windows on screen, calc gains window focus on it but inner focus appears to be on the menu by default

hate to break this to you, but many people -have- to run windows due to various requirements and reasons.

The windows calculator's input handling is fucked. It does something weird that makes it sometime not respect your keyboard layout, amid other things. Tl ;dr don't use it, just type your equation into Google or something.

I prefer symmetry for processes when i migrate between machines - having to do things differently depending on what machine I'm using will suck.
This issue is only occurring on one machine, no others have the problem

Run a calc emulator. hp48gx, nonpareil, etc. Then you get a real calc and not that msft crap.

Alright, it sounds like you're not high up enough to make these decisions. Escalate your ticket to your System Administrator. After getting enough of them he/she will realize how fucking stupid a decision it was to switch.
