I'm kind of a poorfag and want to buy an iPhone. Should I go for a 5S? That's the cheapest one here, can't afford the iPhone SE.

if you can't get the newest flagship then don't bother, you'll get judged more harshly for having an older iphone than you would for having an android

depends on how much cash you can spare per month, you can even get a new one.

Every few months, I have consumerist whore urges.

If I rent a Linux server, can I use my own tools? I want to put up a golang webapp but I don't want to set up a home server.

yes, "server rental" usually means they automatically set up a server and give you root access to it.

I've got something I'd like to release online, but I don't want it to come back to me. Nothing illegal, just something I might not want some people to find out about.

Here's what I thought I'd do:

1.) Rent raspberry pi server from TPB guys, pay using bitcoins so it can't be traced back to me.

2.) Upload these files to the server, then seed on a public tracker

3.) wait until enough people have shared and are seeding the file, then disconnect from the swarm and kill the server

Does this sound about right?

I do believe what you described is the entire point of renting server space

Why do you need to send JSON files? I know what JSON does but why would I ever need to use it?

What causes CPUs to be so bright and colourful under the lid?

Not sure if I should either build a PC or buy a laptop. I don't have a laptop and I think I could need it for school but at the same time I have a low budget and I'm looking for mid-tier performance and built at least

Needs:

>At least 8 GB RAM
>At least 2.4 Ghz processor/Quad Core
>Multimedia use: light gaming, music production and college
>If laptop: At least 15" screen
>Tight budget: $500-$900

I3-6100/rx460 desktop build for sub $600.

Then get a Chromebook. Chromebook will cover 99% of what you need to do in school. The heavy lifting can be done on the desktop when you get home.

Trying to use a laptop for everything is doable but I don't recommend it. More trouble than it's worth.

get both

How's linageOS compared to cyanogenmod? Is it as stable, lightweight and battery friendly as its predecessor?

>I know what JSON does but why would I ever need to use it?
JSON doesn't "do" anything. It's just a data format.

It's an acronym for JavaScript Object Notation. It's as widely used as it is because you can communicate between the client and the server directly in JSON so you don't need to change formats (as was done in yonder years with XML).

Dont trust
For 600-700$ you get a decent pc

G4560 / zen
480 4gb nitro+
16gb ram of whatever clock speed (2400 maybe)
530w psu from corsair
Z170 mobo / am4 mobo

That should be just 600/650$

How bad/inneffective/stupid/dangerous/whatever is to stack several PLCs on the same router?

JSON is the best and most convenient form of data. Working with data that isn't JSON is just a shitshow by comparison.

What's a better way of doing a reverse lookup for a map/dictionary:

a) "reversing the map": Switching the key/value pairs and inserting them into another map

b) "Brute force": Go through each key and look through all its values

why not trust them?

Because that user thinks we're trying to recommend some underpowered desktop. My intention with recommending the i3-6100/rx460 build was to keep the desktop cheap enough to also afford a decent laptop/Chromebook. Enough for school.

All up to you and your needs in the end. Do you need a more powerful desktop or a powerful laptop? $900 can get you a great desktop but no laptop. And vice versa.

chromebooks are no longer cheap, and for the price he'd pay for one, he could get a much beefier buisiness grade laptop from online if he's willing to accept refurbished instead of new

Hi, I got windows 10 for my home computer and it crashes constantly (apparently I need to update but the intel update doesn't support my 6 year old pc's hardware) so I have to change back to windows 7 with it again.

I have the installation program on an USB but when I start the boots menu and select the USB the computer boots normally into windows 10 instead of installing windows 7.

Please help.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_driver

how did you make the win7 installation usb?

>turn lights on
>light bulb explodes
>part that screws into the socket stays in
>can't get it out

I've literally tried everything, I can't unscrew it. Can't get a grip on it at all, and using pliers just bends it. Help.

What does "Core Data" mean in iOS development?

LineageOS *is* CyanogenMod. They just had to rename it because the Cyanogen brand name was owned by Cyanogen Inc, which went bankrupt - and thus that name is an asset that'll get sold off in liquidation. The open-source ROM is the same as it ever was, they just had to rebrand it and set up new infrastructure.

I don't think they even changed the version numbers, so its basically CM 14.1.

a.) should be more efficient if you expect to do more than one reverse lookup. b.) should be more efficient if you don't. If you're in case a.) you might consider just keeping two copies around and updating both whenever you insert or delete. Cause remember the whole point of bothering with a hash map is to get fast lookups.

Make yourself feel guilty about not saving the money. Think about how it really should be in savings in case your car breaks down, or in a mutual fund for your retirement.

>what else you want to hardlink?
Directories, presumably. You can't (or at least shouldn't) do that since it lets you create cycles in the directory tree (making it no longer a tree..) which can cause things that try to traverse the directory structure to get into infinite loops.

If there's glass shards sticking out of the screw, take a potato, cut it in half, and jam the flat surface of the halved potato into the shards. Unscrew.

Should I apply for Systems Administration or Software Development programs at school? I have 0 experience in programming. Which is easier?

No shards sticking out, just the metal part. And it's not protruding enough to stick a potato. Can't even grab it with my fingers.

is there anywhere to dl cyanogenmod?

What's the difference between frameworks, APIs, and SDKs?

I'm moving back to Windows 7 from 10 until there's an alternative or Microsoft unfucks itself. What are the updates to not install on 7? I know about KB971033, any others?

developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/CoreData/index.html?utm_source=iosstash.io

tl;dr: core data is the label for the framework containing their database stuff, toolchain management, things like that. Any time you save user data in an iOS app you're generally using Core Data on the back end. Also hooks into their iCloud stuff more or less seamlessly so things like user settings get synced--that's Core Data

Google it, there's a whole list. More than 10 for sure. Can't remember from the top of my head.

>LineageOS *is* CyanogenMod
Yeah, I knew that. I'm just a bit unsure because I've seen people complaining that the battery life dropped dramatically after flashing lineage and that it was fairly unstable.

Thanks anyways.

What forum or site do I go for help with my Apple MacBook Air with Windows 10 installed? After 20-60 minutes of my Webcam, it will freeze with the light on and won't work until I reboot

I used rufus to load the windows 7 ISO into the USB.

What would happen if I did this

>What forum or site do I go for help with my Apple MacBook Air with Windows 10 installed? After 20-60 minutes of my Webcam, it will freeze with the light on and won't work until I reboot
Hate to say it but you won't receive help for problems like this anywhere given your circumstance

It would be extremely painful.

nothing

with the windows 7 usb dvd download tool

Depends on the surge protector. It should technically be exactly the same as rotating the plug 180° and plugging it into the outlet properly.

PLS
RESPONDO

If all sockets are wired in phase it should work just fine.
If it's not it will short

See kids, this is why euro/schuko sockets are superior.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have the internal measurements of an Apple II-GS case? Preferably in metric.

Wait no, it won't short. It will just do nothing

I did this once by accident. Nothing happened.

Thanks everybody, I'm not even going to bother

Are you a faggot?

Sometimes when I boot up ubuntu my wireless internet doesn't work. The device is connected and recognized, however.

lsusb gives:
Bus 008 Device 004: ID 148f:3070 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2870/RT3070 Wireless Adapter

If I try to use dmesg I get things like:
[ 92.702922] ieee80211 phy0: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset 0x0500 with error -110

What about webhosting on a Linux server? Is it the same thing?

>click link to thing I want
>website opens ad link instead on first click
Anything you can do against that?

You just install lamp, ngix, Django, Java-EE, node.js, or whatever software you desire to host a web server.

How is Linux able to run on both x86 and ARM?
