I know there's no reason to upgrade yet, but I can't help but want to go Kaby Lake just because missy of them seem able to hit that magic 5.0 or higher.
I'm on a celeron D running windows xp

Kaby Lake is overpriced garbage.
I5-4460
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
GTX 750Ti BIOS flashed 1350/3000
I'm itching for a graphics upgrade but it's been holding up fine for the past 3 years. Maybe I'll grab a used 280/280X for a cheap upgrade.
470 is ~$160 now, if that is within your budget.
I forgot to mention I'm a poorfag which is why I still have the 750Ti or I would've upgraded by now. I almost snagged a 7870Ghz o craigslist for $25 but got fucked over.
Bretty good.
FX 6300
8 GB DDR3
R7 250 1 GB
Does the job for me. Recently changed the stock cooler of the 6300 because it was starting to transform into an airplane engine.

And your father wants a space heater for his home office too?
Seriously, the 6300 is a nuclear reactor on silicon. Better get a non-stock cooler for that bitch.

Had a x6 1100t bought a fx8120 initially went back to the 1100t but have to use the fx8120 due to people compiling things to require AVX.
Pretty ridiculous, most of the PC is from 2009, I use to buy a new one almost every 18 months before that.
>tfw 960m instead.
I want to brutalize that dumb slut.
