i3 7350K is shit.
It’s expensive, and to get it near the performance of a locked i5, it has to get so much hotter than that i5.
This is a terrible card all round.
This
This is an Intel desperation move. Same with the rumored HT-enabled i5 and EXTREME EDITION i7 with MOAR CLOCKS.
worst cpu card all year.
>giving a fuck about shit-tier $100 """CPUs"""
Lmao, go back to lereddit and leave technology to big boys.
I don't understand the HT comments anons. I have an i5 in a MBPro from 2012 and an i5 in an HP win7 gaming laptop from 2014 and they both have hyperthreading. When exactly did the i5 lose it?
>cpu card
what
>lapshit
No one cares, macnigger.
Any answers from someone who's not a complete retard?
Lapnormshit CPUs are different from desktop CPUs. There are laptop i7 cpus that have 2 cores.
For desktop it's:
pentium = either only 2 cores or 2 cores and 4 threads
i3 = always 2 cores and 4 threads
i5 = always 4 cores
i7 = 4 cores 8 threads, 6 cores 12 threads, 8 cores 16 threads and 10 cores 20 threads
The only mobile i5s with hyperthreading have 2 physical cores. Same as desktop i3s.
2 core 4 thread Pentium is very recent
Is there any point to buying a Kaby Lake i3 over a Pentium? Yeah, there's muh higher clock speed but are there any serious limitations?
>i3 7350K
Top fucking meme, why buy that and a Z270 motherboard instead of an i3 6100 and a Z170 board? I can get to 4.6GHz easily and 4.8GHz with a little more voltage. Is the 200MHz I might gain from the 7350K worth anything? It's the same fucking architecture.
>i3-7350k
Shit CPU.
No, g4560 literally killed entire i3 lineup.
i wonder if anyone bought this piece of shit. the only person i recall being impressed with it was fucking luke at linus tech tips.
>2c/4t $180
>a match for even 4c/4t $130 Ryzen
What I'm interested in is if Intel bumps their core and thread counts up for each line to match AMD.
2c/2t Celeron
2c/4t Pentium
4c/4t i3
4c/8t i5
8c/16t i7
Only mobile ''''''i5''''''s have hyperthreading
Desktop and mobile intel i3, i5, i7 have completely different meanings
It's nice
Just costs 70~ dollars too much
>shilling this piece of garbage
here's your shekel schlomo
Celeron = 4 core
It's retarded that Intel sells dual-core chips in Macbooks with hyperthreading and calls the "i5s" or even "i7s".
They already gave Celeron hyper-threading.
G4650 is 2c/4t
There is 100% no reason to buy i3 this generation.
Those CPUs come in other laptops too.....
>8c/16t i7
Intel already sells 8c16t i7. They even have 10c20t i7.
The new entry-level i7 will probably have 6c and 12t.
You mean g4560?
No it's 2 core no hyperthreading. Celeron is still too shitty for anything but Word/Excel.
Yeah, sorry.
Celeron has HT now just like i3.
ark.intel.com
That's Pentium, not Celeron. Different lines.
Are you illiterate? You're confusing Celeron and Pentium?
Damn what the fuck is wrong with me
But there's a quad core celeron model
The Celeron N3450 is an example, althought it's based on an atom arch (goldmont)
>ark.intel.com
That's a Pentium. This is the Celeron:ark.intel.com
i7 should be for high core counts, or like e7 in the Xeon line.
4 cores should be i5
>This thread
When the fuck did Intel product naming get so convoluted and confusing? Seriously, they used to be clearly defined and well laid out. At this point, it's actually more confusing than any scheme AMD has ever had.
There's also a quadcore atom pentium lol :D
ark.intel.com
there's no real definition on what an i5 or an i7 is. but yes it is still fucking dumb and i don't know why they can get away with that.
AMD is ironically going back to what they used to do and copying Intel's naming scheme, with R3, R5 and R7 lines. They have more corez per price though.
That's Pentium. Celeron is still their cheapest desktop line. And I'm talking standard for the whole line.
Well, yes. I meant entry-level i7s, the ones that fit on the standard motherboard sockets (zX70, bX50, etc.) rather than the enthusiast sockets. I'm going minimums here.

What did intel mean by this?
Intel funny numbers mean what they've always meant: The delineation between i3, i5 and i7, while subject to some generalizations and patterns, is mostly for branding and market segmentation rather than serious technical consistency and meaning.
A thought experiment: Strip away the i3/5/7 from the names and just had the SKU numbers. So processors with names of only 6600, 6600K, 6700, 6700K, 7600, 7600K and so forth.
It becomes harder to make broad-stroke, back-of-the-hand recommendations for normie consumers. You can't just tell someone friend, girlfriend, family or boss "Yeah that Dell is okay, but I'd get the i5 model if I were you." But you, someone who might build your own system, would still do the research to determine the features you wanted when picking between two CPUs with the names 6600K, 7600 and 7600K. For you, call them i5-6600K, i7-7600 and i7-7600K doesn't actually tell you any extra information.
>intel mobile lineup
hehe
is it SO FUCKING HARD to give things names that make sense. Like number of threads or clockspeed or anything reasonable.
let's rename Ryzen
>Ryzen 4 3600X
4 thread, 3.6GHz, XMR enabled
>Ryzen 12 4000
12 thread, 4GHz
>Ryzen 16 4200X
get the fucking idea yet?
>Ryzen 4 3200M
mobile ryzen, guess how many threads it has and what it's clockspeed is
Hey user want to get even more upset?
Behold, the i3 6100U. A full-fat i3 6100, clocked down and undervolted.
ark.intel.com
I wish you could get LGA versions of it because it would probably overclock like a champ
Agreed. No one buy this card.
>card
Also, wouldn't this be good for emulators?
How reliable is non-K overclocking on Skylake or Kaby?
This is better
>ryzen 436X
>ryzen 1240
>ryzen 1642x
>ryzen 432m
And for normies all you need to know is bigger number is better and x is ++
Yeah the current system is pretty horrible which is weird because they were almost on the right track with Bulldozer since at least the first number in the 4 number codename represented the number of threads, even if it was a hybrid arch.
ie FX-8350 has 8 threads. FX-6300 has 6 threads, etc.
The Ryzen scheme is shit. For example, there will be 6c/12t R5 chips as well as 4c/8t R5 chips. Just literally fuck my whole SKU up.
